@Ratchett are you going to make Mighty/Crafty SonG adapters? I wanna pull the trigger on a Mighty but need to know I can connect it to glass with something vape safe and perfectly fitted before I do lol

I've considered making one, though the easiest solution is to simply adapt the mouthpiece to a 14 or 18mm fitting. I believe there were requests to bypass the cooling chamber completely and make an adapter to fit directly over the load. That would be much harder to make.

The mouthpiece adapter is doable without having direct access to a unit. Any possible adapter to bypass the top portion of the unit would require I have access to the vape for several days/weeks while I perfect the fit.

Sadly I don't know when I'll have access to a Crafty or a Mighty, unless someone is willing to lend me theirs for a bit while I make the adapter.

What if I could get access to a 3d scanner and send you the details? ;-)
Absolutely, if the 3D scan is high enough resolution, the finished part should fit nicely. I have an optical 3D scanner and it's *ok*, but not great at the detail I need for product design. I'd prefer a laser scan if you have access to one.

All I need is the 3D scan in *.STL format and I can go from there.

I contacted a few local companies and so far price for the scan avarages at 150$ for at least 0.5mm accuracy. Is this a rip off?

Lol, damn! No way am I paying those prices. I can build or buy a Laser scanner for a few hundred bucks! We'll see what I can do with any scan @herbivore21 can produce
Gotta get in touch with a few friends, my university doesn't seem to have such equipment (I am a university academic) but I know somebody at another one which does have exactly the right kinda 3d scanner I believe, just gotta see if I can use a friends staff perks instead of my own ;)

If any of you need a simple SonG adapter to convert the mouthpiece to an 18 or 14mm fitting, I can easily do that - If you're interested and have access to a digital caliper - please PM me.

Despite the temptations, I can't justify the price to purchase a Crafty or a Mighty at this time......

Hell, if someone has a camera and can take some clear pictures from several angles of the Crafty without the cooling unit installed would be VERY helpful to better understand how feasible a SonG would be to design

You wouldn't need to create something in lieu of the cooling unit. I mean you could, and it would be really slick to lock into place with a 90° swivel like you do with the cooling unit. But to me a much simpler way to go about it would be to just make SonG with a hole for the mouthpiece to fit into. The probably would rule out hands free vaporbonging, but if a user is willing to hold on to the unit during the hit, it would be no problem. :2c:

Exactly - so if anyone has a pair of digital calipers and can measure the height and width of the mouthpiece, I can easily make a SonG to convert it to a standard 14 or 18mm opening.

PM if you can help

Perhaps we can find some middle ground. Is there any cheap way I could use to create a mold of the cooling piece? If I were to ship anything to you @Ratchett, are you in EU or just an insomniac ?

Or maybe we are overdoing it. The cooling unit swivel is really simple. Two rings and two locks - I'll try to measure it precisly after work, it should not be imposible.

Lol, naw, I'm about 7 hours behind the EU, just an average night for me!

Sadly, I cannot copy the entire cooling unit, but the part which mounts to the vape itself looks doable, though I don't know about how to recreate the screen.... if we bypassed the cooling unit, wouldn't this eliminate the screen to filter ABV debris?

Since I have a spare mouthpiece being shipped to me, the easiest part will be a simple mouthpiece Adapter to convert the Crafty or Mighty mouthpiece to a standard 14 or 18mm size. I may eventually find a way to design something to bypass the cooling unit, but without access to the device, I would feel LESS confident in my ability to produce an air-tight seal.

Here's a mockup of the Crafty Mouthpiece WPA I designed last night in about 30 minutes:

I shall be watching this thread like a hawk...would love adapters for my Mighty to pair with my upcoming FC-187 and other China glass!

Also, would love to help contribute but don't think I could part with the Mighty Mighty for even a day...the shipping from the island would be brutal.

Mail came in early so here is another pic to add to things . . . :)

Thanks for that - wow that's a tight fit! I also don't like how close the SonG would be to the oven if I bypassed the cooling unit - I don't know if there would be any problems when vaping concentrates over 450F that close to the heat.

However, the mouthpiece WPA should be no problem at all - not an ideal solution, but it's the best I can do right now.

Maybe once I get a Crafty or a Mighty I'll work on making a porcelain WPA which could easily handle the high heat

Still waiting on my FC-187 to ship!

Indeed, parts are in route to me to start taking some measurements. I should have a prototype MiniVAP SonG before the end of next week!

How much do you think that will run? Make it a tight fit to the lid. I have the one mestizo made for himself and it's only downside is you have to hold it on sometimes. I have considered gluing it in place. But if yours stays on tight that should be a real winner! Also, how pliable will the silicone be? Will it be soft or rather stiff? If it is a choice, I think stiff would work better (as long as it still has a tight fit to the cap) so it doesn't sag and lean when a full WT is on top. Great job!

Thanks! Since the design is fully parametric, I can adjust the fit by as little as 1micron to make it a tight fit.

I'm targeting $13 for the 14mm and $15 for the 18mm versions

I too was considering making a very tiny plug to fit over the nub itself, but I had concerns about it falling off, so I opted to make a sleeve design.

My SonG's are quite pliable, on a scale of 1-5 (5 being most pliable), I'd put it at 3 or 4. @ShayWhiteGrow has a great video in the herbalizer thread showing him using my Herbalizer SonG with an HT. It's a great example of how pliable my SonG's are.

Let's just say it's flexible to the point that when I use my Indica SonG + PNWT setup, I never take my hand off the PNWT because it does bounce around quite a bit.

It's a downside of the Silicone, but currently the only material I have access to which I feel is completely vapor safe.

Given the popularity of my SonGs I may look at outsourcing my designs to a 3rd party which might have access to stiffer food-safe materials

I'll be getting this soon and will try/test/post pics.

The tight fit/ wrapping over the cover design should be a big plus---it should stay on nicely.

I'm guessing / hoping the jiggle won't be an issue as :

1. currently inverting the mV into my bubbler, I gently hold the mV upright even though it's a center joint/ points straight up. I lift the bubbler/mV unit to take a hit. and then lift the mV to clear the vapor in the can. So same technique with the Song and a bubbler.

2. for a hydratube use--the mV is narrow VS the wide Herbie so I would not expect ANY Song to be
hands free. The mV is too narrow to trust your precious HT glass to stand without a guiding hand.

Anxiously waiting.

I've printed two different styles so far. One that fits over the mouthpiece, and one that fits over the bottom part of the cooling unit. I made the models by measuring the parts with a caliper and experimenting.

I'm not a big fan of the mouthpiece version. Its tough to get a good seal and I was afraid to scratch the mouthpiece.

The cooling unit version reportedly works great.

What I am hearing from my tester is that the Crafty doesn't really fill a waterpipe densely, so I stopped refining the design. Currently it just press fits over the O-ring on the bottom portion of the cooling unit. I planned to design a way to lock it on though.
