I've been looking at this now,

Do you need the cheap china glass?

I picked this up and have been very pleased.

Ok let me ask you guys this question. Why do the manufacturers of these electronic dab ribs make the temp start so high?. Just for example them temps for the Oura , Yellow is 620F/327C, Green is 860F/460C, Red is 980F/527C, and Blue is 1090F/588C. So the lowest temp is 620F!!!.

Here is a quote from weedmaps regarding vaping live resin,

Weedmaps said:
The optimal temperature range for dabbing live resin is between 315 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit (about 157 to 204 degrees Celsius). It’s recommended to err on the side of caution and heat your nail toward the lower end of that range to really maximize the flavor potential of your live resin.

So I'm gonna want an enail to do dabs correctly it seems. I already spent a buttload on "Pot toys" this week though so I'm gonna have to wait. Want to find the best enail solution for me. I want to be able to use my Roor Bongs and the joint size with them is 18.8 mm or some people just say 18mm and others just round it off to 19mm, but I believe those all to be the same size.

How about this one?

Saving that one to my favorites....

For right now I have two e-rigs that I really don't like and have had nothing but problems with. So I'm done with those. I do have the Stache Rio coming on Monday. Also have some bangers and a torch coming so I can try it that way. Seems like the best way would be with an enail though.

@Kins this is super easy..... 710Coils! That DC controller linked above your post is my favourite e-nail controller of all time and it's super affordable! Add a 25mm Axial Coil to it and a 25mm quartz banger with an 18mm joint and bubble cap and you are good to go! With a ruby insert the temps on the controller were nearly identical to my IR thermometer!

So I tried the KandyPens Oura again with some of the shatter I tried on my Volcano and I got the same nasty taste as when I tried it the Oura before. Rubber tasting!. This time I started cold and made sure to only load a small piece of shatter in the quartz bucket and used it at the lowest temp. My Volcano Hybrid on the other hand when I put the same product from the same dispensary in it, it tastes great.

Just put some live resin in my Volcano Hybrid along with a little layer of herb. Herb on bottom drip pad on top of herb and live resin "lambs breath" on top of that. Just a few little pieces of rocks and sauce. Thing lasted forever. I'm on another planet right now!. Sooo many bags!. Probably a little much ..... I put it the Kandypens Oura and it just burns and tastes nasty, but the volcano works great with it. Can't wait to try the torch method tomorrow!.

I'm pretty hyped about Dabpress cause their rosin press was such high quality and undercutted everyone else by quite a huge margin. They came out with enails recently and it seems like the same deal. Nice quality/fair price. Worth looking into.

That's a good price!. I need to look more into it to know if it's a good deal though. Need to be sure the nail will fit my Roor bongs with 18.8 mm joint size. Correct me if I'm wrong but that one says it's universal so it should fit almost any "rig" or bong, right?

Yup, if you look at the joint it's "staggered" They say on the page.
  • First Stage: 9.9 - 10.3 mm
  • Second Stage: 14.2 - 14.5 mm
  • Third Stage: 18.4-18.8 mm

I'm almost tempted to spend the money now and just live on beans and pasta for a while. This is sure becoming an expensive hobby. I started off thinking I'd just get one vape to last and for everything. Started off with Eq and didn't like that. Purchased a crafty+ and love it, also purchased a Volcano Hybrid which I love. Then I tried the electronic dab rigs which I really don't like. Both the Kandypens Oura and the Focus V Carta V2. Both start off with too high temps. The Carta at least has an app so you can dial in a temp though. I just don't think I can use those because the air path is just dumb, with Kandypens path going through the actual atomizer. You need an air/vape/smoke path that won't impart any bad flavors. Glass is ideal for that. Plastic and electronics are not suitable in my opinion, plus I seem sensitive to "off" tastes.

Never seen a PID controller with an auto off, if you forget to turn it off it would just keep heating.

Auber has auto off

Indeed, as well as the Maxvapor PID. You can set how long the units powered on, I would not buy one without that ability. Of course the heater stays on at whatever temp you set, until you turn it off, or the custom timer goes off. Not leaving it on 24/7 also extends the life of the coil, and perhaps your own life, in the event of an accidental fire, WIN-WIN.

My PID is always awake when I am, @710Coils heaters are rated 50w higher than standard coil heaters so should last decades!
That said I want and RDK300 for the boost mode more than auto shut off.
The Dnail setup is a great starting point and I believe @psychonaut said that the controller will be wired to the US 'Standard' configuration so you can easily upgrade the coil if/when needed.

@Magic9 posted the following question in the Underdog log vaporizer thread. I am re-posting his question here as to get better visibility with those in the know. I am new to concentrates too, so I am very interested in the response(s). I would imagine that runny concentrates are to be avoided when using the sandwich method?

"So which extract is better suited to be vaped in the UD (sandwich method)? Shatter or Crumble?"

When making a sandwich, you want concentrate that's easy to get off the dab tool. Crumble is generally pretty 'dry' and is not very frustrating to work with. Shatter, on the other hand, can be difficut to break up and more sticky. You can also use a little ball of organic cotton to hold the concentrate when vaping with a log. The concentrate can take a bit longer than the flower to be completely vaped and the cotton holds up better than the flower on the long haul.

Dry Kieff is the only one I would do in a dog.

Seems like a hot item and out of stock at their Canadian warehouse. Dabpress is on Amazon, you could get it tomorrow if it was in stock.

Well I got a regular torch today. Using it with quartz banger and cap from the banger store on a roor beaker. Only took seconds to melt the live rosin, I think 10 seconds. I must have put a little too much again because I got 2 dabs that were great, and one or two were burnt. However at least this time the pool of burnt was smaller. The banger was really easy to clean. I got most of it with iso-snaps and when it was practically spotless and cooled down I put it in some 95% iso to soak. I think this method works pretty well. Judging by the way the live resin melts and time before it bubbles it seems like the banger store bangers are more consistent with heat levels. The only thing is this torch has a super big flame even when turned all the way down.

Tried again and only getting better at this. Any tricks to turning off the torch with the same hand?. The way I've been doing it is turning on the torch and grabbing the bong (already loaded banger) and heating it a few seconds at the lowest possible flame or butane level. Then I have put the bong down and turn off the torch. I have to be careful because I don't want to burn anything in front of the torch. The Stach Rio definitely makes that aspect easier. However it's just a water piece with a torch turned sideways.....So I'm really liking this way though it may be dated. It seems to make more sense that it works better than an e-rig. With an e-rig or most e-rigs you can't dial in the temp and they just go straight to high temps and heat up almost instantly, that way they burn up all the terps, even at the lowest temp settings. The vapor path on the e-rigs usually goes over some type of plastic or even electronics.

Ok I have a question. Isn't a torch suppose to go very low before turning out? This one seems super high just when turned on and the flame doesn't go lower, it just goes off.

Anyone care to enlighten me about Terp Slurpers?

They seem to be all the rage, but I can't seem to figure out the draw... other than they are aesthetically pleasing.

Every video I see appears hugely inefficient, and often has huge amounts of oil going all the way up past the joint, wasting a ton of unvaporized material. What am I missing?
