You are exactly right. Not properly winterizing the concentrate and/or the addition of chemicals like PG, VG and PEG will cause irritation and, in the OP's case, shortness of breath and congestion.

Vaping using a cartridge pen should not hurt. If it does, something is wrong with the product.

I somewhat agree, but I don't think concentrates like rosin or full melt hash need to be winterized. But for solvent based consentrates, your probably right. Winterizing freezes moisture containing plant wax, and then you filter that out. Plant waxes can harbor solvents and are tough to get out without winterizing, at least for private non lab concentrate makers. So I don't think it's the waxes themselves, more rather what they can harbor.

And for me I can't take pg, peg or any of that stuff, and I'll add metal coils in pen vapes or cheapo nails. Or combusting, lol. But hey, that's just me.
