See I had the opposite issue, my GBD bubbler broke because they braced the showerhead to the bottom of the can. It broke just sitting on the shelf. It was only a few months old.

I had the same thing happen with my GBD bub, but some how it still functions, after a year of use. I have been very tempted by these new pieces, but since my first round have been stacking up and seeing less use, I really need to hold off a while. Wish I had more funds to toss around right now I'd at least pick up that sidecar style with the attempted matrix D020w?? forgot the name on that one...

Long time lurker. First time poster. Thanks to everyone in this thread for giving me GAS something fierce!

I just pulled the trigger on this little guy. I have a thing for sidecars and need some water filtration for my new SSV. Hopefully it won't be too long in transit and I can report back on function soon.

Some have guessed this perc below which I think is on the 20D and 20W for the first time is a 10-slit, 2-section tire. Myself, I think the light is creating an illusion of a sectioned tire and this is really just one section similar to the original d020 (A???) with 10 vertical slits instead of angled slits. My second guess is that the perc action is very similar to the original w/slanted slits.

Of course, i could be completely wrong as well.

I have the D on the way, wanted to try that before opting for the W, plus I may change my mind during the 10-14 day shipping wait and who knows what sunshine will offer by then?

Someone else linked to a piece on Baked Bros that looks just like the D020-D (I dunno, to me the mouthpieces look a little different) and they have a different pic of the perc. I still think the horizontal "sectioning" could be an optical illusion:

Yes happened to me. I had to call the main office of my debt card and tell them that I knew it was a Chinese site and it was me ordering it

You can try calling your credit card company - sometimes a charge from China (if you don't usually purchase from China) will trigger their fraud prevention system. If the problem isn't on DHGate's end, your credit card company can tell you why the charge was declined, as well as allow your next attempt to go through.

I'd settle for DHGate just having an option to sort the items in peoples' stores by "Date Added". For some weird reason the only two sorting options are "Price" and "Number Sold", so there's no easy way to see new stuff, or what is older than what, etc. There's a limited "New Arrivals" section on the front page of SunshineStore's store but they don't seem to update it consistently. None of the recent new D020 "variations" show up on there yet, for example, but the ancient WP010 does.

I was cleaning my D020 with Iso and salt when I had an idea! Why not 3D print some plugs to hold both openings of it closed while I shake the sh*t out of it!

Here's a prototype of a tapered 18mm plug, and a custom mouthpiece plug for the D020.

I printed them using a TPE rubber-plastic material. Most likely not food safe, but since I'm using as part of the cleaning process, it's fine.

The 18mm plug is definitely water tight. Still trying to fine-tune the design for the mouth piece (I'm making the piece not only plug, but also snap around the brim for added security), not 100% water tight yet, but getting close!

What do ya'll think?

Heh, sadly there isn't really any food-safe materials I can print with, yet. But I did hear about some new filament similar to PETE which might be printable with my new printer and is supposedly food safe.

But indeed, the speed at which I can go from concept to physical reality is simply amazing. When renovating my bathroom, I snapped some plastic linkage for the bathtub drain. Called the manufacturer, bitched, and they shipped me a complete linkage (not the plastic part, the whole linkage) in the mail. Within 24 hours of breaking the piece, I had already designed, printed a prototype, refined the design, printed a second model, and installed it in the tub. 8 Days later, my replacement linkage arrived in the mail. Needless to say I never used it, the plastic part I printed is still sitting in my drain, not a single problem)

Lol, cool. Don't know. The TPE rubber is 3x more expensive than the plastic filament. But it shouldn't cost that much, maybe a few bucks? I'll have a better idea once I finalize the design and figure out how much filament is used.

Don't really know just yet - Just printed the pieces today - Unfortunately the top of the pieces which make contact with ISO aren't a 100 water tight surface yet (need to print a few more prototypes to tweak the settings) - so I haven't really seen any issues. Maybe I'll soak one of the failed pieces in 91% ISO i have around here, and see what happens to the material when fully saturated.

[Edit - 1Hr Update] - No problems - soaking in 25mL of 91% ISO - the TPE is fine, same texture/flexibility as before soaking. This is longer than I intend personally for ISO to make contact with the material, but this is still good to know.

Lol, yes, 3D printers are finicky bastards - they require a lot of monitoring. I just installed a wifi controlled power outlet on one of my 3D printers so if I see a major issue via my webcam, I can send the Power-off signal to emergency stop the machine.

I don't know how "unsafe" it is, but think of a lego piece - sure your kids play with it - but would you be ok if they eat it? Definitely not. I'm not quite sure about the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that I'm using, but I think for this situation it's safe to use since I'm not using scalding hot temperatures around the item, and I'm flushing the area in contact with the glass prior to use.

But would I ever 3D print a makeshift fork or spoon and eat with it? Hell no

True, but I suspect the downstem shaft necessary to create a water-tight seal (for cleaning purposes) is nearly the same size for everyone (approximately 18mm Inside diameter). Plus, I am attempting to reduce the infill percentage so the object has some flex to compensate for smaller internal diameters.

However, If anything I sell isn't a perfect fit, I will adjust the fit and ship you a new one. If necessary, I can always print a 2mm "test piece" (think of a 'crop' function in photo editing) and toss it in an envelope with a postage stamp. If it fits, I hit print, and ship you a new custom fitting part.

Well... just sold my straight tube on craigslist so I wanted to replace it with another "heavy hitter"

Went for the YQ-42, honeycomb to matrix / birdcage perc. It was a close race between this and the TD-321, figured I'd get the YQ first and sell it if I didn't like it.

D020 should be here by the end of the week, though I'm already thinking of selling that one for the D020-D. Can't wait to hear what people think of the D!

I don't see how it could function bad, . I'm fine with a simpler matrix. My matrix doesn't fire but from the top two rows either. Just added cost and labor. The original D020 only has 10 slits and it works wonderfully for vapor.



The bottom slits make for less resistance, especially when clearing. At least I hope the same is true for the simpler "matrix". Guess that is part of the fun in new glass, .

It happened the same to mine. I asked GBD how we can fix this... Not their fault was kind of their answer. I guess I'll use it till some day breaks.

I had the same idea and got a D020 knock off called LY003. As far as we know only sunshine store has the propper D020. All the other vendors I tried on Ali so far deliverd sub-par items that were not even worth the low price they asked for it.

Shipping is up to sunshine store, he only ships to europe via EMS. Best thing to do is order multiple items and request combined shipping.
