Thanks! What about in the context of cheap high quality glass? Not necessarily cheap even, but just with a priceerformance ratio similar to the D020. I don't think any of these diffuser designs could be found on dhgate/alibaba. I do see honeycombs and 10 arm percs - how would those compare?

Honeycomb is probably the most for the price. There's a fritted disc ash catcher ($50+ on amazon) you could put a j hook on which would probably diffuse a bit more.

I bought a D020 thanks to this thread, but my throat still gets quite irritated. Does this mean I should be looking for a piece with more diffusion? What sort of design allows for the most amount of diffusion with the least amount of drag? I understand that I may lose out on flavour, but I'd prioritize smooth coughless hits over it.

You might do better with something that has more than one chamber for extra filtration of particulates. It has been posted on here recently, on DHgate there is a comparable piece price/value wise with the D020, it is $38 shipped and is a honeycomb and 10-arm tree perc bubbler. I owned one until I broke it a couple weeks ago and it gives very smooth hits with little drag and I found it smoothed vapor out very well. Here's a link and a pic:

Got another glass lamp shade in from Ms. Kathy!!! My collection of lamps is growing constantly, I'm certain my mail carrier is having a chuckle! Anyways got this 18mm ac and it's sick looking with my hc recycler! Saved a hundo over a similar one from my LHS...

All good and I appreciated it. I contacted the seller and they did say that there is a vortex but its pretty weak. Theyre working on a redesign. They offered to cancel the order and I took them up on it.

Sucks.. I was really looking forward to getting that thing but id rather get one that works right than one that works sorta right.

I've been reading this thread for a while now and at long last I can now contribute to it! My D020 arrived today! 6 days to Australia, ~$45 shipped - not bad at all if you ask me. Stacks like a champ and the dome/nail/adapter and bowl (hilariously large for such a small piece) are all decent quality, especially for the price. I think I'm addicted now...time to pick the next piece to set my sights on! Does anyone know an ioffer, aliX or DH gate store that ships free to Australia? Shipping was more than the piece

To be honest I don't really understand what the bowl situation is. I guess if I removed it it would be compatible with 14mm connections. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Its a 18mm (outside diameter) to 14 mm (inside diameter) reducer downstem, says so in the description as well. The bowl you see is just one of those ashcatcher/bowl combos.

So, when you remove the bowl you get a 14mm connection via the downstem. You still can replace the downstem for a 18mm-18mm if you need a bigger GonG.

It's quite a learning curve getting used to all the various attachments and sizings.

If I may ask, what is the purpose of the ashcatcher/bowl combo? Is it for combustion?

Exactly. There are ashcatchers out there that have ground glass connections, those can be used with with mouthpieces and various other attachments in combination with your vape.
If your GAS is running wild ATM and you life in europe, DON'T visit the recycler thread. Just DON'T.

What vap are you using? Might not be a water pipe problem but more you taking too much vapor to using too much heat. For example if I crank up to 5+ on my solo I usually will cough; but if I start 3ish and go up I get alot less irritation

I hear you! The lhs carries strickly "Chinese" glass and charges ~$150-$200 but even they're not up to these standards! I suppose they have way more overhead than me though

Same here. I have two shops in my town: One offers mostly 6-7 year old pieces that nobody ever wanted (one of those shitty Dragonbongs is the most interesting piece he has on sale). The other one is owned by a guy who runs a shisha bar, you actually have to ring him up so he can open the store for you. Sells mostly "Boost" brand pipes (cheap, thick glass, sadly nothing beyond the usual beaker or tube with a slide downstem).
I know its not that simple and I really want to support my LHS. Thing is when I can't even buy a shitty 18-14 GG adapter without hearing the dreaded "I have to order that one." there isn't much left I can do for them.

You're lucky, I'm on the East Coast, ordered on 3/2 and the thing isn't even in the US yet according to the tracking # today.

Just copied and pasted my DHgate tracking number into the USPS website and it was more up to date, my DO20 and Helix knockoff are in the same state as me now....should be just a day more now... I thought it would be another week, what a nice surprise.

EXACT same story here! When I got back into this I went there and I was like hmm so not much has changed in tech since I was a teenager so it was "Gimme a bong I guess?".

Had to get online to realize there was a new world out there for the same price!

Could be worse, they could charge $25 for said adapter like the one near me. The only time I can even stomach going into the shop is when it's a holiday and everything is 50%+ off.
