Cheap High Quality Bubbler

Got my FCMod an hour ago, pretty quick to AUS (Ordered 21st, shipped 23rd). Anyway it's mostly OK but the big perc drop in is really off on mine. I have to rotate it to find the best angle to keep it level. Most of the bubbles favoured one side until clearing.

Have to try it again now that I've hopefully levelled it out. I think this beast is too big for my Solo. I might have myself a good incentive to get an EVO

Also ash catcher fits D2020D just fine so I might end up back on that until I EVO.

Nice Gramin,
I got the Evo and the D020-D...
I'm looking for a bigger piece, but how much bigger is the FC-mod compared to D020-D?

I would say somewhere between 1.5 and 2 x bigger. It hits you on the start of the inhale how much more work you have ahead of you before you can pull the bowl. I try not kill my Solo so I generally pull it early and still it leaves me with vapor trapped in the mouthpiece because I'm at full lung capacity. I will have to experiment some more to get it right. I love learning a new piece! No wonder people here are hooked on buying so many cheap but still kickass pieces :)

Sorry if this is a jumble I just hit 3 bowls within the 12 minutes!

Message the seller about that. They will give you a discount. I'd shoot for 30%. They need to be reminded quality control counts.

Just got my FC 187 from Steven, took over a month to get here because of a mix up with shipping. One question though; the female joint in it is a bit tight for my evo, so much that I thought it had broke the evo's bamboo when I tried to remove it . Is there any safe lubricant to use in the joint to prevent joint lock ? Looking for something that won't harm either piece being used.

@Mangos wax, such as unflavored lip balm would help. An o-ring on the Evo would help too. I keep thinking about buying the Evo but I use water almost every time and the Evo seems bulky to flip, along with the stress on bamboo/glass. Have you considered Evo>whip>187?
Great tip @Bongologist cheers.
If you're thinking about getting an Evo, then get the Evo- it will find a place in any collection. The flavor and vapor density still impresses me after five months with it.
Before I got the the Evo, I promised myself I would buy an adapter kit to avoid any mishaps with the glass, but the unit is soo light that I just never had a problem inverting it till now. Will just buy an adapter kit now though . Thanks again for the tip, have a great day .

I got a replacememt fc mod.main can becauase.my perc was tilted like that and it affects the function big time..dont accept that..he sent me a new one after i told them i was member here and it wont function proper

I might. I have other issues too like the smaller perc is really malformed and looks like it didn't set before cooling. I set the QC bar for myself pretty low to avoid disappointment. I was just happy it arrived in one piece! If I can get sent another I'd be swimming in so much interchangeable glass I wouldn't know what to do with myself lol.

Am I meant to have the smaller perc in the ash catcher yea?

Whatever you do buy an extension like an ash catcher/reclaimer & shove it in that joint so you're not tempted to stick the Evo back in that piece @Mangos
Anyway recently I tried a $10 reclaimer from DHgate, it's kinda thin but it has a bit of resistance & works really well with the Evo on my bigger pieces. I'm going to try a few more, I had no idea something small like that could change the function of your glass so much. It's like I've bought new bubblers.

What up FC. First post but Ive been lurkin this thread since before the fc-710 was released. My question is, which dhgate seller makes the best dropdowns? I recently got 4 14f-14f from sss and besides one they all had pretty bad joint wobble and i know it's not my fc-710 cuz my buddy has a nexus glass dropdown and it fits snug. Now I have a mini fab from glassartist ordered and I need a couple 14m-18f. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :leaf:

I don't think there's an answer to that question. I just got 4 dropdowns from SSS, and the joints were all good. Quality typical for china glass, some small bubbles, a couple scratches, but pretty straight, definitely usable. Point is; the stuff is mostly ok, sometimes not so good. I doubt you'll find one vendor who is consistently better than that.

I agree with Pig, there is no consistent seller for things like this especially. I ordered four dropdowns from Kathy (I think) and two were good, two were almost useless. If you want better quality look into oregonglassblower or a few other members here.

I was thinking about the adapters I have around the house already for the Evo for when I purchase it. I have an old Vapor Tower whip style vape. Do old 18mm whip vape attachments work as adapters on the Evo or are the joints too deep on them? They are really cheap and some of them worked. Something like this?

Although mine is this one with the 2 screens that sandwich herb together (works really well on the Vapor Tower years ago actually!) I could take the screens out and just have an 18mm female to my 14mm male I have on the other end instead of the mouthpiece.

I know the joints were too deep on Stevens Chydrotubes, wondering if these adapters would have the same issue or do they work?

I think the problem with Stevens ht was the joint was pushed up inside beyond flush, so it was the glass preventing it from sealing, not the joint itself. Those adapters seem to me like they should work and that's pretty much what I was thinking. Hopefully an Evo owner can chime in, I'm really thinking about the Evo as my next purchase, I keep going back and forth.

You need an angled female joint on the Evo's bamboo- to avoid any stress on it when moved with the tubing attached .
This is the straight adapter I used to use : http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/2pcs-lot-glass-oil-adapter-jiont-14-4mm-male/196104550.html

I would connect the tubing in the male side of the adapter and just use another male to male joint on the other end to connect to a piece of my choice. But using this method nearly made my Evo tip over no matter how long the tubing was.

I really think that's why the adapter kit sold has a angled female joint, allows some give when moving it around . That's why I am going to get it next.

Hope this made sense, just finished a session on my Evo :peace:
