one thing i notice is how much wider the straw is on this piece. also, there is no diffusion design or hammerhead perc at all on the downstem, its just sawed off. because of this, i needed to keep the water level higher. it also needs a dropdown pretty badly. all in all, its neat and its cute and it looks like a giant juicebox, but i'm pretty glad i didn't spend $100 on this piece. this thing chugs like an old beaker bottom i used to hit.

In regards to branding, the issue with brand names in the product description is not something that FC can likely deal with. We may be a reasonably significant portion of their market, but the fact is that Chinese business is just not regulated by the same rules that we follow, and DHGate itself is pretty much an online knockoff warehouse.

In terms of actual impact, I personally feel as though the "evil" (quoting no one, just a word to use) of DHGate glass is overstated in terms of it affects American glassblowers. Mothership is certainly not hurting in any way from Chinese glass sales. Their pieces have appreciated in value every single year for about half a decade now, and their market (2-3k per piece at a minimum) is so economically divided from dirt-cheap Chinese glass that the traditional issues with knockoffs don't really exist. No one buys Chinese glass to pass it off as Mothership--no one smart, at least, and anyone with the funds and know-how to scoop a Mothership is either not going to consider a Steven FTK, or at least they will recognize without a doubt the difference in between the two, and probably isn't going to be insulted by the existence of the fake FTK.

Mobius is arguably a different case, because they already attempt to offer somewhat affordable American glass and the DHGate knockoffs are very, very good. The logo-blasted DH Mobius' wouldn't be mistaken for the real thing by someone who knows glass, but for someone who didn't they could easily be taken for a ride.

But ROOR?????? Walk into any LHS in America and they will have anywhere from 5 to a 100 pieces with fake ROOR branding. Not to mention that ROOR themselves has sold their branding to blowers not based at all with the original company, so it is literally impossible to distinguish one from the other.

And then you get to the point where we're saying that you can't post a picture of a knockoff Matrix perc bubbler branded with ROOR lettering...I don't know the answer, and I understand the problem. But the wholesale demolition of this thread will do more harm than good, because as it stands it is actually IMO a valuable resource for those who wish to make sure they know what they are buying, and whether or not it is real. The Custom Glass thread is much iffier in terms of the rules. Not that I want that one disbanded either

Haha, yeah that rig is actually done very nicely in terms of shaping and perc design, but the straw mouthpiece is not the move...

Pros:
-very heavy... maybe 2x CCG fab egg
-i dig the compact can, lets me take huge hits

Cons:
- Shipping time was pretty fuck you (fake tracking number, bullshit excuses)
- torus doesnt function
-perc slits are very un evenly cut
-perc doesnt fire evenly
-the bong showed up wet, like maybe i got the actual water test pipe, or maybe they tested for function. mine doesnt function so maybe these are factory seconds?

In summary, avoid..they are going to have to work on this to get the function correct. at $40 i would have kept it, but i think ill sell this one to a friend

great video! unfortunately it looks like the perc has 1 slit bigger than the rest and the vapor/smoke it taking the path of least resistance = 1 slit perc And with the vape I saw little recycling action and no vortex really? But I do like it and if you get a good perc it looks like a fun piece to own. I need a good recycler. Which is currently the best for vaping or dabbing?

@CameraNerd have you tried other water levels? On a regular torus you typically need to be filled up to the bottom of the funnel portion so I think that the level in your video is far too low.

I've never tried CCG, but the feedback has been good, definitely better than Steven's .
I like the looks of the Othership stuff too, just got the mini straight fab in 14mm, which I really like for oil. The perc is a little off, so I got a partial refund, but I would rather get a good piece the first time. The Otherships stuff is a bit more complicated, it seems like this introduces more margin for error. One might think, because we are paying more, that the extra fee would cover the extra work, but that does not seem to be the case.

Just noticed this one, it looks pretty good too. Looks like it has too much percolation for oil though.

I tried several water levels, including as much as it will take and not get water in your mouth. Its very chuggy at that level. Ill post another vid with higher water level if it will save others some cash.

as it is, the Steven FTK is (in my opinion) inferior to the fab egg. The poorly made perc is pretty sloppy.

the canola oil test at the end was kinda interesting. is it possible to add an inferior glass perc to a boro tube? the tube seems to disappear, but the perc is still visible. The fab egg is totally visible in canola, which im assuming means it is not boro.

i also found a lot of tiny cracks inside the tube at the botttom of the torus of the new fc-ftk. i think this one may need to take a liquinox bath and go back to china.

Got my FC (3 digits here?) I'm a fan, and it matches great with a log! Combined with my UFO it's very entertaining. I can use it two ways with the UFO, since these two pieces offer so many possibilities. I used my LSV and UD w/ separate perc setup and it was like an instant blastoff! I've used it like a normal ash catcher attached to UFO but by far my favorite is attached to the mouthpiece of the UFO to use separate vapes with separate percs. Though the latter is top heavy and requires support. Here are a few pics to help explain.

The caps joint has girth so finding a proper clip might be a hassle. It most definitely will pop off with a bump or the occasional drop gong freak out. I haven't had any problems with it when I've used it by myself. However with multiple people it fell off quite a few times. Damn clumsy friends! I just put it on and give it a slight turn and it stays good for me. Same way I use my 14mm stopper with my 4way Claisen inverted.

So I think I was the first person to buy Kathy's newest Fab Beaker, and I'm pretty ok with what showed up at my door today.

The perc looks kind of shitty but works fine. Some of the slits are unevenly spaced(see above) and some of the slits are chipped/scratched, but that's China glass for you. I have a Straight fab from Steven coming in tomorrow or the next day so looking forward to that also. Overall pretty satisfied.
