Cannabis News UK

Legalisation is a bit of a non-subject in the UK at the moment. Overshadowed by the all embracing farce that is Brexit and demonised relentlessly by most media outlets, the BBC being one of the worst for it.
Medical users can only get access to cannabis as a medicine in very rare circumstances or if enough media is antagonised and guilt the government in to prescribing very small amounts of oil or heavily processed medicines that contain cannabinoids. And even then, the licenses are revoked without warning, even in the most severe of cases.
I'm a medical user and I am self sufficient and it's the only way to access a medicine that actually helps my various and chronically impairing medical conditions. It's the only way I can guarantee the plant is not contaminated with heavy nutrient salts and is constantly the same and gives me the better relief to conditions that "traditional" controlled substances and dangerous synthetic opioids just don't help and alot of the time make worse.
I've been self sufficient for a long time and will carry on being so as cannabis will not be legalised hear for a very very long time. Not with a conservative government and certainly not with a communist traitor heading the opposing party. America isn't the only country with a 2 party system lol.
Fuck the government and legal access. Cops don't give two shits anymore in most counties so i take my chances :D
Grow in peace :leaf::D

I hear ya , more power to ya and I wish I could more often, and thousands like me.
But various factors mean self sufficiency is a dream and I'm lucky to even experiment.

Maybe that's why it is so unjust, because someone might have another sick relative to think of besides themselves, and maybe they made a small slip up in their past, or become known from simply purchasing.
I hear in some parts of UK it's the police that are seeing sense at ground level and backing off a bit.
In other nearby markets they are still more than happy to make it their bread and butter if they're told to.
I'm constantly reading what seems to be genuine medical uses being punished and sometimes made fun of in court,
along with all the "big busts".

The contrast with news stories of rappers literally adding it to ice cream in America is almost tough to witness at times.
Unfortunately I will probably be forced to beat the drum, however hopeless that sounds to those in a better position.
My poor back can't handle the closet anymore!

here's a few more UK stories from recent months:

Cannabis 'to be legalised in the UK' within five to ten years, say MPs

A group of cross-party MPs who've been on a fact-finding trip to Canada predict the UK will fully legalise cannabis use within five to ten years.

Half support legalisation of cannabis

Nearly 50 per cent of people living in Scotland support the legalisation of cannabis, a poll for The Times found.

The survey found 47 per cent in favour of the Class B substance becoming legal —about the same as in the UK as a whole — with 37 per cent opposed and 17 per cent unsure.

thats a shame mate. hopefully circumstances change and you can drop a seed or two!
i hope we do get medical legalised, but i don't think we'll ever be able to grow legally in the uk, even if medical and rec gets approved. it's too much freedom if we grow our own and the government can't have that at all! way too much revenue to be lost in sales and taxes alone for them to leave it to people to grow themselves.
the police commissioners have made statements saying they are relaxing and focusing on mass growers and gang related stuff like the county lines runners that are using school kids my eldest's age to move weed across boarders. some counties are more strict than others and the ones that don't tolerate it, come down very hard.
https://www.dazeddigital.com/politi...ften-their-stance-on-arresting-cannabis-users
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uk...annabis-across-the-country-experts-claim.html
https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/what-we-do/crime-threats/drug-trafficking/county-lines

i'm lucky to be in a county with more relaxed stance, but it depends on the cop aswell so it's not worth doing anything stupid to draw attention lol.
the general public couldn't care less really. my neighbour doesn't like it so i don't smoke near the house and vape indoors. like i am doing with my Tubo and some jack x blueberry right now lol
more public awareness about it and a less demonising education system would also help.
i don't see legalisation in any form happening in the next few years and when it does become legal, i don't think its going to be in a much more accessible form than it is right now. just my opinion on the matter and i've been smoking 18 years and growing on and off for half of that lol. i'm just fortunate to be able to grow for myself and a friend and regulate everything to a safe standard.
again, i really hope things change and everyone can have the opportunity to take control of their own medicine, but for now, you take the risk smoking it so why not grow it what i always think lol.

I do really think that Brexit has enabled them to teally dig their heels in and deflect attention.

Their obvious desire and intention was to make this go away for the meantime as long as possible but ideally at least 5 to 10 years if they could although I do suspect there is a chance movement could happen sooner than that like in 3 to 4 years and surprise us all you never know.

I think 5 years is actually quite feasible because things can can change quite rapidly and I think the rate at which this particular matter changes will increase over the next few years.

So I'm with you guys completely on your logic and rational timeline and expectations but at the same time I think it could be a case of we can't really see the Landscape ahead too well right now and you just never know.

Well done the government for getting away for the meantime with flat out denying people access to medical cannabis and refusing to budge one iota on the topic in general.

But again this has been easy enough for them because there just has been too much distraction and attention on Brexit. Very convenient but that cover won't last forever (or will it?)

Well, technically it is legalized for medical use, but only in a Tory fashion.

You can trot along to one of a few authorized private cannabis medical clinics like The Beeches in Cheshire, be examined, get a prescription for cannabis and renew it monthly.

As long as you pay £200 initial fee, £700 a month for an ounce of weed and £150 monthly renewal fee.

that's ridiculous! and people actually pay that? even more reason i advocate growing and breeding your own.
no wonder people turn to black market stuff if that's what a legit channel charge for it!
you can set up a small space for less than £600 and rotate 4 photoperiods a year or as many autos as physically and financially possible.
the tory version is dangerous. withdrawal of medicine that helps, without reason, puts people back on opioids and more dangerous substances like Gabapentin and others . it's not worth being put on the radar. if we get arrested over here for hurting peoples feelings on twitter and facebook, being a know cannabis user on any capacity is just silly in my opinion.

Mum reveals she let teenage daughter smoke cannabis before GCSE exam to 'help imagination'

A mum has sparked controversy online after revealing she allowed her teenage daughter to smoke cannabis before a GCSE exam to "help with her imagination".

In an online post, the mum explained her teenager smoked a "tiny bit of weed" before school to help her relax........

............"My daughter chose to smoke it. She doesn't touch it anymore. She just used it as a relaxant to get her through her GSCEs and she did really well with her results."

i was wrecked all the way through my GCSE's and college lol. my mum and dad certainly didn't encourage it though. can't say it helped me much either lol
but thats just irresponsible parenting. i'd be massively disappointed if my kids started smoking at the same age i did and i'd feel i'd failed as a father if that was the case. and i certainly wouldn't encourage them to use it in any form before at least 18 and even then i still wouldn't encourage it.
i came from a conservative family and that just pushed me more into using it at a very young age, as well as other substances but thats for a different forum lol. i'm being more open and liberal, to a certain extent without turning them in to entitled little shits, so drug use is never a taboo topic in our house. but as far as actively letting them do it at 15/16 is just not on, in my opinion.

If you care about the kids, there’s no excuse not to legalise cannabis

If we have the chance to reduce harm, we should take it.

That idea – harm reduction – lies behind much of what any government seeks to do.

It is an uncontroversial principle. Yet there is a key area of government policy which does not abide by it: drugs.

@blackstone we can only hope dude. Patrick Stewart has been a big advocate for a very long time. (If you haven't seen Blunt Talk, i Highly recommend it).
I've applied for these studies for a good few years, but fibromyalgia doesn't come under the approved umbrella apparently. Or so i keep being told lol.
I just keep doing what i'm doing and keep myself in stock with fast medical autos.
The amount of times i've spoken to my pain clinic doctors, GP's, Auto-Immune specialists, Urology specialists about is silly. And unfortunately it's all over my notes that i'm a cannabis user as a matter of them being professional. If only then new what i used for depression and anxiety haha.
Cheers for keeping us up to date dude :D

There's a nice few celebrities getting behind it, but it seems to not make as big a difference as you'd think.
Maybe it will eventually and every bit counts, like home insulation!

I was upset to see that arthritis was not one of the 7 conditions that they choose for giving out MMJ in that experiment. But chronic pain is so I hope that would include things like Fibro and PSA.

Combined with the ignorance to medical use, that MJ driving test since 2017 is one of the worst things i think.
If you're using for an ailment that you cannot get a medical drivers exemption for eg. most things!
I mean if Patrick Stewart, or any of us were to be arrested and banned for trying make their comprimised life a tad more comfortable and driving the next day. That's horrible.

Thanks, I'll try to see blunt talk soon!

The best thing about the driving exemption is i use Codine and oramorph at a very high does, to the level it being debilitating to most people short of a smackhead lol. i keep my prescription in the car at all times on the rare occasions that i do drive but im sure i'd be fine if i got pulled. they smell weed in the car and i'd be fucked for life. if i've taken morphine, which i haven't for a long while now, and i got pulled up, i'd be fine, even though i'd be endangering everyone i passed and was driving behind and any passengers i'd have with me. incredible logic haha.
but i get what you mean about celebs, but they don't contribute to the MP's who have vested interest in GWPharma and their extortionate and useless extractions and medications and large scale exports for processing outside the UK.
mate, make sure you do. its so funny. Loved Patrick Stewart before i saw it, love him even more afterwards haha.

@blackstone here in lies the problem. the decision being left in the hands of people that have never experienced 2-3 hours sleep a week because every movement and means immeasurable pain. that playing with your kids means being off your tits on levels of pain meds that would put a baghead to shame and completely fucks with mental health to a degree it frightens your partner and children. ignoring the advice of one of the most recognised neuropharmacologists in the world that has built his career around finding pain meds that don't have the horrendous side effects and addicting properties.
self sufficiency is the only way to combat this, because as it is, this marvellous plant will never be free. not whilst those in power are so out of touch with the general public and people who suffer from debilitating diseases and conditions and the scientists studding the power of psychedelics as relief from daily torture.
rant over lol.

And yet people say my idea of breaking all the politician's legs is weird, it makes perfect sense right? :p
i'd happily smash the fuck out the lot of them lol. but apparently it's illegal
finding a good source or GYO and making FECO is as good as it gets. but finding someone honest about how they do it or having the means to setup and DIY isn't an option for most. clubs and proxy grows are a rarity and most them that i've ever dealt with just want the money, fuck the patient.
some bastard spiked my brother-in-law with powdered codine in his Q and nearly killed him! which is just one example of shit that happens locally. ground glass and fibreglass and all sorts of shit being put into bags to make them look like they haven't already been blasted with butane is not a rare occurrence . but from a political stand point, its one less "druggie" for the system to deal with if it did end up killing someone. and any pledge from a political party to legalise or make access easier is just an election ploy to grab votes and will never amount to anything more than sativex or canabidiol being made more available to patients. both drugs being wank (found out through a very hard fought 3 year long battle) and being a very shitty and expensive imitation of something that can be grown in 60 days from seed to harvest in the privacy of someones own home and processed safely in clean conditions.
i love this country but fuck me is it hard living here sometimes lol

I couldn't find a UK focused thread and the search wouldn't give any results so I'll start one. Who is getting proceeds from "criminal conduct" in the UK?

FCA Publishes Guidance On Its Approach To Cannabis Companies Looking To List In The UK

...
1. Recreational Cannabis Companies: The proceeds from recreational cannabis companies, even when they are located in those jurisdictions that have legalised it, are considered to be proceeds of crime by the FCA and therefore the securities of such a company would not be admitted to listing on the Official List in the UK.

2. UK-Based Medicinal Cannabis Companies: UK-based medicinal cannabis companies can have their securities admitted to listing on the Official List (provided they have the requisite Home Office licences).

3. Overseas Medicinal Cannabis Companies: overseas licensed companies may have their securities admitted to listing on the Official List provided POCA does not apply and they satisfy the other eligibility criteria for listing. However, such companies will need to satisfy the FCA as to the POCA risk and that their activities would be legal if carried out in the UK.

Two arrests over 'cannabis sweets' that saw 17 pupils taken to hospital in London

A woman, 24, and a man, 41 were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and child neglect (exposure to harm)
The sweets were thought to contain THC.
Their (the student's) parents were informed. Nobody was found to be seriously ill.

Huge bag of cannabis worth over €1 million falls off lorry onto motorway in Antrim

It is understood the suspected drugs were strapped to the roof of a large horse box-type vehicle, but fell off the vehicle and on to the M1 motorway near the Blacks Road junction at around 6.50am on Saturday morning, 3 October.

Well firstly I wouldn't want to be that lorry driver.

And his employers must be so gutted!

I see law enforcement in Antrim exaggerates the market value of whatever cannabis they come across just like their cousins in the USA. Canna-blarney!
Unfortunately for some, they might not be that far off in this case/these times/some localities!

It makes you think, were they in an awful hurry leaving somewhere, or maybe just this once a strap broke or something?!
There must be a lot of kief at the bottom of the bags after all that knocking about! Or just mold and grit lol.
As an update, I saw that a 33 y.o. male was arrested in relation to the incident after some follow up searches.

What made me laugh was my image of the situation and the actual time of day, not fully daylight, and the picture of the Lorry driver seeing what happened and pulling over in the dawning light to quickly climb on top and tape it back down again without being spotted. Or just get shot instead lol!

On this occasion the press just might have saved his arse.

Could UK's Covid crisis lead to cannabis legalisation?

ITV.com 9th Dec 2020

Article requires cookies so I only had a bare look but looks like a positive article from a large outlet with all the usual good benefits and reasons for legalisation in terms of economic recovery.

=================

(Ireland) People caught with cannabis may now avoid criminal charge

First time personal users may now instead receive a caution, affecting around 12,000 people yearly who were normally dealt with through the courts. It now carries the same penalty as climbing a crowd control barrier at a concert.
Sales remain illegal so I don’t know how that works.
