I just placed an order for a new glass bowl. There is no handle, but at least the screen won't fall out. I lost my last screen for my old glass bowl. I replaced it with a 3/4 shovelhead screen, and it worked after some curvature. The screen does not fall out anymore.

My hopeful assumption with the new glass bowl was that the glass round the middle would be thick enough so you could pull the bowl from underneath the wide glass rim, basically meaning the whole of that glass ring is the handle...

Is that not the case, new glass bowl owners? :)

I got a Weedeater ordered to compliment my ever growing NV collection. Unnecessary? From my understanding, yes. But we’re talking VAS nonsense so anything goes.

When I first picked up my Vrod I picked up on that the Vrod was replacing the Showerhead. At the time NV was posting about putting together some SH bundles and just the SH was also available. I’d love a SH in the collection . Purely because, just because. Anyone know if NV plans to offer these from time to time like they did for the 4/20 sale? Maybe a post in the classifieds would turn up a member willing to part with one?
Wow, I see that NV no longer offers the SH in deference to the WE. I still LOVE my SH and see no reason to change heater heads for flower. I use it for flower only and it works great.

Also, SiC is NOT easily breakable. Maybe you are thinking of sapphire inserts or the like. But SiC is very durable and not a fragile snowflake at all.

I meant to say the same thing recently, forgot. Nice one.

Sapphire tho, maybe I've just been lucky, but I've dropped my sapphire dish at least 5 times in the last month or so (up until a few weeks ago when I rejigged my routine to eliminate the stupid habit I'd got into). Thats a lot of good luck/bad luck even stevens! This was on to a hard wooden floor from about a meter high.

Now, Im not saying they're durable for falls, but I did expect it to shatter each time. Then I remembered that sapphire is near tough as diamond, but its the thermal shock that really makes it give way. I assume it wouldnt survive a fall onto a tiled surface, or concrete, but fairly soft wooden flooring seems ok, carpet should be ok (tho it'll melt right thru), and im not saying 'start taking risks everyone, its fine!' :)

Anyway, you just reminded me of some sapphire dish thoughts I had recently. And now I've posted them.

The end.

PHASE3
Manufacturer
The thing about SiC is it comes in many grades with different characteristics under various manufacturing methods, I’ve seen SiC break like a fortune cookie. This happened with Source Vapes SiC bucket and many reported the same with AVS M22 ESCC dishes. IIRC a few on here have even reported breaking SiC Halo’s.

Sapphire on the other hand is a single crystal and always nonporous which takes a very high purity to achieve, so different grades of sapphire are only due to optical differences between the material.

On the Mohs scale both SiC and Sapphire are the same hardness (9) and require diamond coated bits for processing.

Sapphire is just more susceptible to thermal shock as it’s coefficient of thermal expansion is higher than SiC and Quartz. One easy way to take that risk away almost entirely is to not run water in the rig as many FC’rs already do. IME flooding a sapphire is more likely to crack/fracture then break entirely. I’ve got a 2 year old cracked ruby I use when I’m cleaning my sapphire insert, still seems to work fine. Technical sapphire is mostly used in viewing windows for extreme process environments and crazy laser technology so it’s pretty durable stuff.

I already need a new dish because I got it stuck to the head and thought 400 degrees was enough to loosen it so I could pull it out with pliers. Of course it broke, but I was pulling pretty hard before it broke and it didn't actually break until it came off the head. I am assuming this is in part because the angle of the dish changed, but the pliers stayed the same. I'm going to replace it with another sic dish because I feel like I went to great lengths to break it and feel like I am unlikely to repeat the performance.

For future reference, if this happens again, do I just soak it in alcohol?

Hey, you guys know any reputable glass dealers that might have a Mobius 50T Stereo Matrix v3 in stock? Been watching the Mobius site like a vulture, but nothing has been added to the shop for months 😭

I am sorry about your dish. but yeah, I personally would try soaking it before trying to yank on anything, every time. This sticky stuff is sometimes hard to deal with.

Ive still been jonesing for a ShowerHead. I spoke with Chris at NewVape. Great guy, super nice. He said they do not plan on canceling production of the SH. He also said they are in the middle of revamping and remodeling production and their focus right now is to ramp up production of products more in demand to keep things stocked more consistently. Makes sense to me. VAS is a relentless thing 🤞. @NewVape710 @newvape918 🙏

Hi all, I recently purchased a Dynavap and Vrod with Auber RDK300B controller and glass bowl. I've been really loving my Dynavap (in comparison to what I've previously used; an Arizer air, V Tower, MFLB, Herbalaire, and some others but those less frequently) but am having a tough time finding the appropriate settings and subtleties that would have me enjoying the Vrod as much as I'd expect.

I started at 625 and with a fast draw speed I noticed a dark ring appear around the outside of the bowl after only a few hits; continuing without stirring would scorch this part of the bowl and create an awful taste. A slower draw would more evenly vape the top of the bowl, but frequent stirring (every 1-2 hits) is required for my bowls to not cook completely on the top and be partially green on the bottom. I turned my temp down as low as 595 (as I am aware these settings seem to be different from user/user) and though the flavor is passable (closer to the flavor I get from my Arizer Air) it still tends to taste a bit burnt AND I struggle quite a bit to get the bowls as dark brown as I would out of my Air. For reference. I drop the Vrod onto the bowl, pull until I see a bit of vapor, then clear. I don't pull excessively long so as to avoid scorching the bowl as I've found that tends to happen when I try to increase the duration of a single hit/keeping draw speed constant. A typical session is probably around .1-.2g and any more than that would be far too close to the heater to even have a prayer of vaporizing correctly.

I have tried using the carb cap and pulling for a bit, feathering, and then removing the entire unit to clear a hit. Though that seems to help, I cannot for the life of me get even close to seeing how folks are able to completely vaporize a bowl with this thing without frequent stirring. As a final note, I've been disappointed by the flavor with the device; even at lower temps it just seems to fry a lot of the terpenes I taste through other vaporizers.

Maybe I need a significantly lower temp? I've gone through a PDF file determining if my coil has an incorrect preset that would make it run hotter or colder than normal; it seems to run just a smidge warmer than normal (says it is 85 when room is 70 deg) but I don't think that is a huge factor here. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated!

You could try going even lower in temp down to 570 or so, leave the carb cap on until you see vapor escape and then draw, this should give you a nice milky hit with good taste. I personally never stir, this thing delivers so much heat. The top of the bowl will always be darker and way darker than anything coming out of the Arizer Air in my experience.

Check out The Cave Smoke Shop. Great glass and great CS IME.

Don’t know if they have that exact model, but they do carry a lot of Mobius.

Maybe you're just hitting the same load too long? I could be way off but I think most people use this vape to approximate a bong hit and try to wrap things up in one or two hits? If you're stirring every hit that makes me assume you're taking a longer session than most? Think I used to hover around 550 for more drawn out sessions.

I do think the vape you referenced is interesting because my air bowls come out exactly how you describe in the quote above, only inverted: black on the bottom and green on the top.

I used to live near The Cave in Walnut Creek, CA aka The Nut. First place I checked, but they were out. Thanks!
