I don't really understand the AVB/smell thing. I mean, if you need to be stealth, why even attempt to leave it out? Otherwise just dump it into a ball jar and throw it somewhere sealed up.
I'm just confused as to how you're blowing clouds of vapage but the smell of AVB at the caddy is a concern?
It’s not an issue while I’m using it, but if I’m only using it in maybe a 4 hour window one day that’s an extra 20 hours the AVB smell is spreading throughout the room/house for no reason.
Right now that happens a lot because I don’t like taking everything out of the stand to dump it all the time, and the separate can already makes that much easier to do, but the can shown above is pretty large.
Since I think it’s large enough to hold many days of AVB for most people, it makes more sense to me to either reduce the height to just hold enough for a day of heavy use or so and expect people to empty it regularly, or keep the large volume and add a cover to keep it contained until you do decide to empty it.
AVB isn’t anywhere near as unpleasant as ashes, but I think people generally settled on shallow or covered ash trays for good reasons.
@YaMon Those would be cool, but they don’t really fit with this design, so I was just suggesting a solid lid with no mechanics elements to worry about.
Something like a thin metal jar lid turned upside down so it sits down a bit below the top piece that holds the spike and brush and provides a place for AVB from a session to collect before being dumped into the larger can. Does that make sense?
It would need some kind of tab or grip somewhere to make it easy to lift out, but otherwise it’s pretty simple.
Using a shorter can and leaving it open would also be okay I think, I just can’t see most people leaving AVB out anywhere near long enough to fill a can that deep without a cover.
