I find the tilt a little annoying too, but I'm not sure a locking mechanism is the answer. I lift the heater off after each draw, so a twist thing would be a little annoying. And what if it gets stuck? Making the tolerences finer to reduce wobble also brings risks of sticking.

My solution has been to keep holding the handle unless the heater is at rest on the stand. Seems safer that way too.

I do not think this would work for several reasons. For starters the bowl will rotate in the joint when trying to disengage the heater. Secondly, this kind of connection would require tighter tolerances which could prove problematic as the pieces heat up and expand.

This observation along with heater (head) sticking on the older resting posts are the only wonky parts of the design and I see that is a stretch. If the head were any tighter on the bowl to prevent this you would have problems lifting the head off the bowl and in some cases might take the bowl with the head during removal only to have the bowl crash to the ground spilling herbs all over.

The post issue was resolved with a new titanium post with a higher profile . The later issue you bring up is negligible. In fact I often change the angle of the head on the bowl as I am drawing to tighten and loosen the gap until my bowl is milked.

NewVape is playing around with some other materials (MACOR). If they are able to make bowls with this it may allow for the bowl/stem to be one piece and for tighter tolerances with the head alleviating this problem.

I find that if I place the handle on an NV glass bowl and align it almost the same with the handle of the glass bowl, I get almost zero tilt.

@invertedisdead just posted the other day (maybe not here?) that NV is no longer considering the manufacture of Macor parts. So those dreams have been dashed. No NewVape Macor for you!

On my VRod, the leaning of the head is so slight that if tolerances were any tighter, it would be a nightmare just as @YaMon described. My hand is either on the handle or the very sexy carb cap so the slightly leaning head doesn’t really have a chance to be an annoyance.

Just from videos, it seems the SH has more of this going on but IDK. ANYTHING. except I love vrod.

I was bugging Edwyn to do a flower centric version with the recessed base of the VROD; but no dab dish. Just a bowl and heater. It would be a lot smaller without the dab dish and IMO less intimidating for some people, and really tiny! More like Herborizer sized.

We probably won't see any macor FP parts though due to a few posters concerns.

I'd hate to see a lot of effort on NV's part to solve something which isn't even a serious problem! I got hung up over this once and went out, got a 2½x¼" SS cap screw and screwed it into one of the threaded openings in the base so it held up the end of the handle. Then I thought about it a bit and realized it was totally unnecessary! The lean doesn't affect the high, it doesn't affect the device's efficiency, it doesn't subtract from the overall sensation of using one of the finest extractive devices yet devised for the production and consumption of cannabis vapor. I came to peace with it.

EDIT: I understand NV’s concern, the first thing a business in America has to answer is “how can this come back on me?” Is the hot coffee too hot? Macor would be a headache for this reason but Edwyn’s posted a lovely Macor bowl (one-off) so it’s definitely machinable. Would be cool.

Haven't heard anything about Macor. Not recently. Last I heard, it was put on the back burner. There are just too many other things taking up Ed's time. But he has surprised us before!

I really miss the regular comedic stylings of Monsieur @emmdeemo round here tbh. Twas such a wonderful part of my daily cyberlife; His scientific testing of the entire FlowerPot range, valuable for sure. But also for the brilliant wordplay & random social insight and of course, the enthusiastic insanity and ensuing hilarity. The video clips that make tea come unexpectedly out of my nose or nod in recognition & appreciation.
I was so much younger then and thought the magic would never end. Such a stupid hippie dreamer!

But then the media found out where he lived, the paparazzi and groupies descended en masse and nothing was ever the same again. He changed his name to MDMO and soon after began his now-famous habit of changing his underpants every hour, on the hour. He’s predicted to become the hottest British global export since 1Dimension or the Spice Girls. He’s got more talent than both of them combined, they only need to figure out how to get that gargantuan cranium to fit on a standard size pillowcase.

TL;DR My VRod is very effective and fun to use.

PS. My apologies to Monsieur @emmdeemo for the drive-by slander shotgun but well, sir, I’m emotionally immature (but big for my mental age!) so this is just me saying I really miss your posts in the thread.

I cringe when I see people light up bowls these days. Especially on expensive glass.
