@Roth If I’m remembering correctly, some smokers would twist wax around a joint and that was the origin of the term. I’m not a big fan either though so I don’t use it.

Well if that is the case, that does make it seem slightly less stupid because now I know the origins whereas before I thought someone just pulled it out of their stoned ass. But I still dont really "like" it

Double decker or stack actually gives a reasonable mental image too especially when compared to what's actually going on in the Flowerpot

Hey,

Im thinking adding the Vrod to my collection. But the dam coil thing has stopped me and is still stopping me. I know this has been discussed on and off and I am sorry for asking again, but what other brands of coils fit the vrod?

Is there any coils that has the D-Nail pin configs that is vrod compatible? I want to get back in the flower game a bit and give some flowerpot love.

So according to the NV site, for the original VROD it should be 20mm clockwise wrap, with 5 wraps. The pics on @710Coils site has 4.5 by my count (out of stock anyways). How important is that last .5-1 wrap? Or is that not an exact picture of the coils? I found an XLR pinout, clockwise wrap, but only ~4.2 wraps. Works great with the showerhead...but it would offer a cheaper alternative while 710coils is out.

Confusing thing is the amazon pic only shows 3.5 wraps, but the one I got has 4.2

Yep, @invertedisdead is correct and @710Coils sells Dnail wired coils that work with the Vrod. They're out of stock right now, but I know he has a shipment coming in very soon. Hopefully some more are in there!

I give the slight edge to the Showerhead over the Vrod in pure flower performance. Since you have top of the line dab gear, I assume you'll be using the FP for strictly flower. If not, then definitely go with the Vrod. If you plan on double decking some flower and concentrates, Vrod without question.

I love doing high temp, uncapped hits with the SH. Vapor density can resemble a hefty dab, but with flower!

They are both great for flower but each are different animals and require a different technique.

@tb42091 The amazon item is just a standard 20mm coil with counterclockwise wraps. Vrod counts the end of the pigtail as one wrap, even though it isnt. Its probably gonna be a month before I stock more Vrod coils, but will make sure to call out when its getting close to them landing =)

I prefer the SH to Vrod for pure flower because I find it to be more versatile, and you get even extraction virtually any way you use it. With the Vrod, you can definitely get a darker outer ring on your flower in certain situations. You can absolutely achieve even extraction with the Vrod, but like @BornAgainSteama , it just takes a little bit of technique.

But keep in mind that I'm not talking about rating the SH way above the Vrod at all, we're talking minor improvement imo. I have a SH, but I keep the Vrod on my coil most of the time because I like the ability to dab and do double deckers with it.

Once I get my opaque banger set up from 710Coils, there's a good chance my SH will be my main FP machine. But you can be sure I still won't be selling my Vrod! They both have their place imo.

do you know if that coil has a unique pin out? Can it be used on a dnail controller? I see its XLR but not sure on the pin config on it.

710 life has a unique pin layout. Finding out what it is, is a whole other problem

This coil is from the amazon listing I posted. Correct me if I'm wrong but if the pig tail counts, then this coil is VROD compatible. Clockwise wrap as well, unless the FP is doing its job better than I thought.

@Shooby, listen to @Roth! If you should intend to use it with flowers only better go with the Showerhead. No probs cause of the special coil, all 20mm barrel coils work on it, and an even extraction of flowers is easier than with the VRod.
You have all high-performance dab setups so you probably don't need/use it for trates, perhaps for doubledeckers, which for sure are working/tasting better with the (D-Nail) SiC dish of the VRod than with the ti dish of the SH.
Yep, the SH is a real flower beast! I know you are very special to tastes, therefore you should consider ordering the glass bowls instead of the ti ones.

The only thing I have to add re showerhead coils is, some of the lower end/chinese 20mm coils have too large of an outer diameter to fit the coil cover. I have 3 coils here that all turned out to be a smidge to large for the coil cover to go over it. Obviously you can use it without the coil cover but it definitely helps with heat transfer IME.

Just tighten the coil carefully from the end to the beginning with silicone/cloth/whatever protected pliers.
It's pretty easy. Done in 5 minutes.

I have had a friend tell me the the TI hits harder than his dab rig with a quartz banger.... I am 95% flower and if the VROD was better for flower I would be ordering it but I have yet to hear that it is better. only different.

Double deckers really are nice, and something to absolutely consider. The Vrod is a wonderful tool to get you into the clouds. I just didn't want you to have the impression that you were going to see an improvement in pure flower going from the SH to the Vrod. But the ability to do double decker hits is a big plus.

Eh, I don't know about that. No offense to your friend, but I think they must be doing something wrong somewhere, either with the SH or with the banger. Maybe they're taking the hits too hot on the Ti of the SH, and the high temp metal dab is making them cough up a lung. Maybe they consider that "hitting harder"? Maybe they don't have their quartz banger technique perfected? Idk, but I would never agree with that general statement.

Last week I stuffed a wad of hemp fiber in the stem of my adjustabowl, so I’ve been using it over a week and last night I hit an empty bowl with the same post and produced some pretty big clouds from just the reclaim on the hemp fiber. I was planning on moving the reclaim soaked hemp fiber right to the bowl, but there was no need. And that’s just a bonus on top of cleaner glass. Vape on! Respect! -YaMon

I use a bowl-shaped "carbon" adapter fluffy filled with some organic cotton. Glass stays much cleaner and after some bowls you can use the reclaimed cotton for some nice, not so delicious but heavy hitting tokes.
