Since I got the VROD and a rosin making toy I am having the urge to squish every bud that crosses my path. About 90 days ago I was pretty much strictly flower but rosin is superior in every way imo. I love it.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Yes sir, everything around these parts is getting the stompbox treatment!

Wait 'til you try a flat coil setup! Such smooth, tasty vapor

I have pressed some large amounts, since I have a hefty press, but my favorite press to do for the Flowerpot is 5 grams. When I find a good deal on some premium top shelf flower, I'll buy a quarter and press 5 grams for rosin and keep 2 grams of flower. Then I'll combo them both through the flowerpot. With top shelf dispensary flower, I can get 1 - 1.5 grams of rosin with the first press on those 5gs.

Does anyone use the Dabber Holder (2571)?
Does the bearing hold the treaded loading tool?
Does it work with the SH/VR carp cap on top w/o tipping over?

What method for using your rosin (sic or quartz or in the bowl on top of flower) what temp you rocking?

I'm mostly using my 25mm opaque quartz since it works the best with small rigs but sometimes my SiC dish. Haven't used the vrod in a while though; I have the sic dish on a flat coil + ti base with the vrod carb cap. At 565 right now on my 25mm quartz, super smooth and flavorful :)

Dude, up to you as far as whatever thread you feel it’s appropriate, would you/could you share a picture of your setup? :brow: Enquiring Stoners want to know! You’re always on the tip with the next big thing!

Dear esteemed board member,

The dabber holder #2571 isn’t threaded at all, IIRC. It’s just a smooth hole in which to stick whatever you might wish to stick into it. It’s 6061 and not big so not heavyweight but I’m sure it can handle whatever you might want to shove in there. Since both of the carb caps you mentioned are titanium, so lightweight but will have the “scoop” dabber on the end. I think that it would be wonky & wobbly and top-heavy. Even if it doesn’t fall over immediately, surely the sight of this leaning carbcap would be anathema to your exacting German eyes? In the end, I don’t think this is the hole for you; let’s face it, you could never be satisfied and happy with a $5 hole for very long anyway. I’m afraid your search continues onward my friend.

Dear Edwyn @NewVape710 I wanna throw this idea out, it’s for the gal/guy who has multiple dabbers but don’t wanna screw them in their stand just because or maybe they have made a custom stand and so don’t have 10-24 threads to screw their beautiful NV dabbers into.

I’d rather like little doo-dads, kinda like finials, with 10-24 threads to put on the end of a NV dabber. They could be a simple disk, or sphere, I know you can make whatever you want and nothing you do is EVER plain, lol! Anyway, I think they would be a nice complimentary thing you don’t necessarily need but WANT!
I’ve thought about suggesting it but never got the courage up to get shot down in front of my friends, lol!

I’m not planning to keep my NV dabbers screwed into the base so the threaded end kinda bugs me, it just looks unfinished to me, only my opinion. I’m only going to have one carbcap so I think that little NV finials would really give a bit o’ class to the dabbers that don’t have a cap. Little $5 part, even in SS; maybe put a tiny NV branding on the bottom. Make us one with “FC” on the end, lol! I bet they would sell like crazy, that little add-on stuff is where it’s at! You can’t afford not to make these, you’ll be RICH!

What a bad guy you are! :myday: ;)

Honey, for sure I don't intend to put the thread of the threaded tool into the hole  but the shovel part. My question regarded to the width of the stand's bearing. I wanted to connect the threaded part with the carb cap of course and stand the shovel end into the stand. But good to see you confirm my concerns regarding the safe standing. Anyone with real experiences? At least Edwyn could say something about.

Probably this construction delivers a better grip but now it looks a bit too much ...technically?
A thick bolt with nut? Is there a need for that increased grip? Is it necessary to right tighten the construction?

Wasn't it made to make sure anyone can get the sections to release if it ever became stuck, or am I missing something? I would think it solves the VROD pieces sticking problem.

@BornAgainSteama Yessir, that’s the facts. Another lightning quick adjustment from NV. I’m not sure how many were sticking but I gotta think it’s enough to warrant the revised head design. It’s always rather stunning no matter how often I witness the agility of @NewVape710 and this willingness to move forward right now. It’s always a shock to the system because it’s so different to most other businesses.

I can’t argue with the decision at all, NV had to address the issue and Edwyn is a engineering genius. So I’m okay with it but I also gotta agree a bit with @Hogni (much as it pains me to!;)) that this iteration’s profile isn’t as instantly appealing to me as the previous versions’ sleek, smooth silhouette. Hmmm...:hmm: Just saying from a purely aesthetic design perspective and yet, this isn’t sculpture. It’s a kick-ass vaporizer! The latest Vrod functionality informs the design, so it’s just evolution. :myday:
:leaf:Thank you @Doktor Dub for The Timely Heads-Up, keeping this old geezer current!

:peace:

EDIT: unintentional smilies

EDIT #2: Dear @Hogni After looking at my loading tool, I honestly think that little stand would work really well as you plan to use it. Probably worth 5 bucks next time you’re placing an order? Sorry I was behaving so immaturely, I’ll try to be nicer. Maybe

Ain't that the truth. When I first got my FP I made a napkin drawing of how I thought the round stand could be improved and PM'd it to him. A couple weeks later, Bam! the newer round stand came out incorporating my suggestions (and he was nice enough to send me one as a thank you). Agility indeed.

Thanks to @Hogni for the recommendation in another thread, I am now the proud owner of a Flowerpot Vrod setup with the NewVape enail and coil.

I set it up last night for the first time, and I have been using a quartz dish because Vapefiend in the UK were out of stock of the SiC dish.

Please can anyone with experience of the quartz dish let me know some good starting temps to begin with? I tried 625 but soon went up to 670 for dabbing some wax whih gave a nice hit, but this was too hot for adding flower to the bottom section as it combusted quite badly.

Are there different preferred temps for using just the Vrod for dabbing alone and different ones for using it as a double-decker and having flower in the bottom bowl too?

First impressions are this is a heavy hitter!

I couldn't do double deckers on the vrod with a quartz dish.
I couldn't find a temperature where the dab would vapourise and the flower wouldn't char or combust.
While I had the vrod, I settled for doing dabs separately or just putting the concentrate directly on top of the flower in the bowl.

Yeah I think I was 650+ when dabbing on the quartz dish.
The general consensus on here was that the quartz dishes needed a higher temp and SIC is the preferred material due to the higher thermal conductivity but I didn't try one due to vapefiend not having stock at the time.

I think some people were able to do double deckers with a quicker draw or faster flowing glass pieces.

@ramram I also had trouble doing double deckers using the quartz dish. My preferred temp for dabbing on the quartz was higher than I could use on flower while capped. You can definitely lower the temp to keep your flower from getting scorched, it will just take several hits to clear your concentrate on top. Not a problem per se, but you just won't get that knock you in your chest massive hit that's capable with some double decker hits using SiC. But it will definitely still add some kick to your flower, so not a bad deal either way.

Another option is just putting some of your concentrate on top of your flower in the bowl.

Where did the term "Twax" originate from? I don't know why, but I personally don't like the term...just seems to be too made up to me or something, idk. I feel dumb saying it out loud, so I just never use the term.

I usually just ask my brother if he's ready for some stacks on stacks

@ramram As @Pyr0 said, a faster draw at higher temps helps a lot. At least without a carb cap, people use well into the 700s with a fast draw and no combustion.

I can’t nail down the temps on the VRod for you since I don’t have one yet, but on the ShowerHead I’ve loaded a small amount of flower, set the controller to 777 and used a medium draw ramping up to fast as vapor production started without combusting. No carb cap there though.

I’m like 95% flower so I think the highest I’ve gone with the cap was mid 600s since I really don’t want to combust and you can definitely combust at a lower temp with the cap than without.

@Roth If I’m remembering correctly, some smokers would twist wax around a joint and that was the origin of the term. I’m not a big fan either though so I don’t use it.

Thank you @Roth Agree all day! The reason you can’t say it out loud is because you are simply too cool; it just goes against all your instincts. Trust yourself my friend!

AFAIK, it originates with people drizzling (sometimes very ornately) oil on their joints, the result being called a “‘twax” joint. The only place I have seen it used in ages is NV’s site, I guess it’s possible that word adds value and brings customers in. I wouldn’t bet on it though.

No question twax sounds contrived to me but then, so much on the popular cannabis scene feels that way to me. From the tendency to shorten the name of something and then add a “y” to the end all the way to the video stoners’ borrowing of “Cheers!” before taking a hit. In the UK, cheers is used for “thanks” and at the beginning of a round of drinks. The way those cats use it, you’d be saying Cheers every fucking sip. Can you imagine a room full of friends and everyone’s going “Cheers!” before every hit?! :disgust:
Smh, I’d be punching all my friends in the arm until that stupid shit stopped, that’s what. :goon:
Maybe it’s just I’m turning into a grumpy old man and these kids irritate me! :myday:
Stacks or double-deckers is much better and more baller than “twax” imho. Twax sounds like something a lady does for bikini season. :ugh:  Stacks on stacks. Roth’s in charge of naming stuff from now on!
