Vapor Dreams
Hello fellow vaporents!!

My favourite way of using the Showerhead is at 720 uncapped and the slowest inhale I can do until I fill the bong and then a fast inhalation. I usually microdose and I always kill the bowl within one hit (and I like the bud to be as extracted as possible). I dont like to carb because a good lung technique is better.

As a sidenote I have to say I fill the bong just enough to add moisture but i never get water to cover the percolator. I observed that the little airflow variations my lungs make when inhaling make some kind of turbulence and it helps extracting a wider range of cannabinoids (maybe adding slight variations in temperature). Also it preserves flavour much more and I dont find the vapor harsh at all. I find the vapor in the Fury 2 extremely harsh even at 200ºC to add a comparative.

It has to do with the personal pleasure I get out of a long inhalation and a prodigious amount of vapor. It works perfectly on the Hopper — and on the Lotus. But if I draw on the FP that deeply I can get the same amount of vapor — but in half the time and a coughing fit ensues.

One technique I enjoy on the FP is the "continuous draw". Set on 710, I'll start inhaling and when I have a good amount of vapor, exhale some of it through my nose and keep hitting the FP. I can run through a scoop this way without getting so much in my lungs so fast that I have to cough. Fortunately I live in a legal state, grow my own, and have a more than adequate supply on hand. I'll keep experimenting; I like doing this kind of "research".

How large is your water piece? Do you have a picture? The experience with the FlowerPot can change 180 degrees from piece to piece and if you throw in a drop down or ash catcher that can definitely change the experience. I have a free flowing piece that makes it difficult to gauge how much vapor I am taking, whereas I have a large piece with more diffusion and I gauge the amount of vapor on how many times I fill the can. Generally I draw until I see it is full, pull the heat, exhale, then empty the piece and exhale again. For me that process is easily repeatable and the hits are glorious. No other vape I own delivers for me like this so consistently.

So you are finding the F2 harsh, is that through water too? If that's the case the FP must be like velvet.
I still have to decide, Vrod or Showerhead, hmm. I rarely get/use concentrates but I am hearing all this good stuff about the Vrod with buds.:suspicious::uhh::tup:

Thanks for all the quick responses. Yup, the carb cap does a good job. What I'm looking for is something which frees me up a little — I'm hunched over, trying to keep the glass from moving, trying to spin the carb cap, trying to find its place in the tray, trying to get the FP back on its stand, trying not to get the power cord wrapped around the bong, trying not to burn myself — another arm or two would be helpful! It's all in good fun, of course, and I really like both vaporizers, but the Hopper is a lot less logistically challenging. I'll keep at it though and maybe over time my FP technique will improve.

A little cotton or hemp fibre in the air path if the new plugs don't work. Obviously they will filter big globs of reclaim but that has it's its benefits

I was exactly in your boat and opted for more holes in my shower cap (6) and just left it on the SH permanently.

VRod, without doubt. The flower function on the VRod is far too similar to the SH to make any huge difference between the choices, but even if you're rarely using concentrates, the difference between the SH and VRod for oils is so vast that there is no other option but the VRod :) (IMHO).

Oh and bare in mind I'm comparing the SH to a VRod using the D-Nail SiC dish.

I think it's great that newvape keeps coming out with new product, I bough the WA head and then a week or two later the V-Rod came out and I bought that, no regrets whatsoever.
I did take advantage of the 50% off for people who had purchased a shower head within 30 days before release. Great gesture from Newvape.

Then we here there's going to be a V- Rod rev B comin out. since that happened so fast I had faith that newvape would do something to help us out and they provided a plug.

I purchased a Stevenlmz79 glass bowl it cost me $21 Canadian shipped. It doesn't bother me whatsoever that they have it available, if I purchase that from newvape it would cost me about $30 Canadian Plus 10 or $20 shipping. but again good for people who just want to order from the US and don't like dhgate Etc.

I want them to keep innovating and bringing out new things and trying to help people with previous models as best they can, @newvape918 maybe just try to work on ways to enhance notice on things like this on your website, a little bit of a heads up.
It's good how you have all the latest products sorted on the site , maybe you should try to make that a bit more clear with your search functions. Kind of showing the evolution of your products so people can see the latest stuff.

I'm at about 615f today, hardly any water in my piece, flower only , capped V-Rod, some niiice grapefruit. It got me the Tasty thickness I need and I'm more blazed then if I were doin dabbers!

Just done my first two flower bowls in forever. Absolutely blasted over here :)

I forget its a different experience to the old dabs, even if its all from the same flower.

580f. Rev. B VRod plug installed. No heat ring or scorching, pulling as hard as I can.

I purchased this countdown timer April of 2017 to automatically turn the Flower Pot off with a timer should I forget. It also has a button that I use to turn it on or off. It has worked great for over a year and only cost $12 bucks.

I know New Vape has instructions to make a switch so you could go that way too if you prefer.

I use a WeMo device so I can turn it on from inside the house (as my vape stuff is in the workshop). I have a 1 hour, 15 min. timer set on it.

On another note, I got one of the vrod plugs today (thanks @biohacker !), but prefer it without. Tried vaping a bowl of flower with the plug in the centre hole, and I found it left a green spot in the middle.

When I first got my VROD I started off hitting it like the shower head. I found that this left a strange darkened ring of herb around the edges of the bowl and a light green center. I found it curious that this was happening then I realized that the shape of the VROD's air inlet hole was causing the dark ring effect because a strong, cooler, 1/4 inch column of air was preventing the heat from spreading out to more evenly brown the bowl.

I have an old highly educated dabber and plugged the center hole with it and noticed the dark ring nearly disappeared. I have some ideas why this happened.

Since I have been using the VROD with flower I have found I can control even browning strictly with my draw. Now I am using a rev.b VROD and think it is the best yet. I have noticed that if I want to see the dark ring effect with a light middle all I need to do is pull a hard strong draw and the ring is there again. In my mind this is caused more by the VROD's air inlet size and shape than anything else.

I feel the VROD is equal to the shower head for flower if we are going by vapor production alone. I also feel the VROD requires more technique to get the most out of it when comparing the VROD to the 'draw anyway you want' shower head.

:2c:

Having done only a couple of bowls of flower today, and only a couple more bowls overall in total with the VRod, this lines up with where I was headed in my thinking.

EDIT: Im def switching to two rigs, one for dabs, one for flower. I didnt give a shit about a dirty flower bowl but now mines been clean for weeks due to being dab only, I am not happy about all this flower particulate in the bowl! :D

Not happy about it!

At all!

Yes, you can manipulate and repeat the effect once you realize what is causing it. Try a very slow draw until vapor begins to build in the glass then speed up your draw just a bit to finish off. I can do this and have no ring at all and be completely satisfied --- all at the same time!

:p

Part of the reason why I wasnt seeing the ring in the first place was that what you describe was often my thoughtless method due to my lungs being fucked... fill the can with vapour, pull the showerhead off and inhale sharply to empty the can. I cant handle just endless streams of vapour. Any more than just this bongs can full and Im coughing and feeling shit. With the D020 it was the same but I had to use an almost imperceptible pre coughing irritation in my lungs rather than the glass filling, which was much easier to miss and get wrong.

Mostly doing the same with dabs and if I get the size right, its the dab down in one and no coughing. No coughing means I dont get the subsequent asthma flare up.

OK, I just done a learn I think? I didnt quite understand why this glass I now have was nicer than the D020. Its me not having to guess as much where my own personal irritation/coughing choke point is.

I really can't compare the vrod to the showerhead as this is my first NewVape product (although I have owned in excess of 40 vaporizers over the years so I do have some experience :) ) ... for me, I find it much easier to get even browning of the bowl without the center plug. Once I added the center plug, it's always green in the middle and requires stirring. I've settled on 590F for temp though, so could be different with the lower temp. At any rate, I find it much more natural to use without the center plug ... so I'm glad I got a non-rev.B one :) Just thought I'd mention it, as it seems to be contrary to what most people experience, however, it nonetheless holds true for me so far.

Thats the beauty of the NV range and what I've always returned too, the ability to have many different approaches to get the same results. Or the minor differences getting big changes in results.

Such a versatile variable device if one is willing to delve and work with it instead of imposing a type of usage.

Finesse, init :)

Have the same piece. It works great. But I think I am going to get a plug that works with home kit. Would be nice to pull into the driveway and the garage door automatically goes up. All the lights are turned on for me, sublime comes on the Sonos, and the VRod starts heating up.

Damn, missed it by days :) Oh well.

I now sport a shiny new Shovelhead, upgraded from my version 1 that has ring connections instead of the tapered connection. I had a slight wobble with my previous bowl and obviously, the slight air leak. All nice and new and clean and no wobble and no air leak now tho :)

Nope, noticed no difference at all regarding the air leak :)

I now sport a shiny new enail handle from NV too. A non essential purchase for sure, but its great to not be handling the lead directly every time I use the VRod head (which is a lot, I suppose :) ).

EDIT: Two SiC flowerpot burns this evening* :)

*One was about my appearance, the other was about my mother.

IMO the carb cap could do a better job at spinning the vapor. Perhaps going back to the angled air hole like the V1 Showercap. I noticed the carb cap is a lot easier to spin in the horizontal dabber position versus the vertical.

Are you referring to moving the oil around in the dish as I've just noticed that I've adjusted my VRod carb cap to accommodate the slight change in function from the showercap I was using (I never got used to the pagodacap) - I have had to considerably slow my rate of spin (RoS) of the carb cap :)

If thats of any relevance to anyone, ever :)

EDIT: You were right btw, I got rid of the drop down, and its taken a while but I've finally dialed it in I think, noticing some more flavour that wasnt there before.

More testing needed to make sure Im not just making it up tho, obviously :)

EDIT 2: Yeah, that is some significant flavour increase. Definitely things in there I havent noticed before! Amazing!

Super fast inhale so I can feel the carbcap clamping down somewhat when I slow spin the cap.

Pretty sure you could vape DMT with it. But as someone else said you BETTER have someone there for assistance so you don't hurt yourself or your home. I'd suggest sticking with your current method. Play it safe.

You see I would stick to my usual method but i do not have one. I hate smoking out of a bong and do not have a torch and rig so i was wanting to use the NV. Thank you guys for concern about safety. I have been researching lots and i was planning to my sitter/friend to hold to unit for me. It is still just a thought though. Not going to do it until I know I am ready.

After reading through about 60 pages or so of VROD talk, and waffling several hours on whether to upgrade or just get a second nail+SiC dish for concentrates exclusively... I decided to pull the trigger on the VROD. The separate nail would have been quite a bit cheaper but one of the reasons I bought my ShowerHead in the first place was to reduce the number of devices and clutter I have been accumulating over the years.

I've been gravitating toward concentrates more lately and will be investing in a rosin press sometime in the near future so it sounds like a worthwhile upgrade as I'd like to keep flower in the mix as well.

I'll need to solder up a connector for my Menovo controller but it sounds fairly straightforward as long as I can get the pinouts matched up correctly.

Not going to lie, that part is a bit off-putting and one of the reasons I had considered going another direction in the first place. Hopefully NewVape comes up with a better solution in the future as it has the potential to disenfranchise a portion of their (existing and future) customers.

Anybody have or had a "LOG" vape? I have an Underdog that I hit through water exclusively but I'm trying to decide if the Flowerpot is worth the upgrade? In terms of vapor quality.

I have Five UDs and a HI. SC1, SC2, Mini, Micro, and Alpha. (Glass Core HI) In terms of potency, the UDs can get me the same place as the FP SH, but will take a bit longer to get there due to the amount of material you can vape at once.

Honestly the Alpha UD (18mm stem can hold .25) can hit me just as hard as the SH but has a lot more draw restriction. I much prefer using it on the couch since I have a lot less to worry about with a log vape in comparison to a huge hunk of hot Ti.

It's hard to answer your actual question of vapor quality because there are so many characteristics and usage patterns to consider. (voltage, stem used (nong vs gong), draw speed, draw restriction, etc etc) What do you enjoy about what you currently have, but feel you are missing out on?
