Would be awesome to see a round tree trunk type wood set up! Yeah the post is a weird issue, its random that some people have it and others don't, mine personally does it every time even if I try to keep it on an angle, its like the material the vrod is made of is the issue. Never had it stick with my other heads
I bet ed can build a stand. @ed
I hear you, but actually Im not joking at all. I'm certsinly not capable of doing this myself, and Im sure there are very many who also couldnt or would prefer not to.

I think it could be very popular to have somebody knock up diy stands for a post or more to easily screw into. It would be the easiest project for you yet on the way to the desert island.
Lots of medical users who I think would be pleased to see an easy alternative to the Newvape stand, without them having to Macguyver one themself of find a makeshift solution.
I bet @Ed's TnT could probably build a stand. He has built quite a few items for me.

I appreciate the vote of confidence Alexis, but I think this one I will leave w/ NewVape. @ $50 for their cheapest stand, which includes the post and the spike. The post is $15 and is a required item, so that leaves a $35 difference. I'm not sure it would be worth it for the end-user to get a wood stand for $20 vs $35; and apart from a basic block of wood with a few holes, I can't see making a truly functional stand without it taking too much time as to not be worth it (would have to charge too much so I would rather just recommend the NewVape one)

That being said, if you decide to buy a FlowerPot or VROD Alexis, I'll make you a simple stand for the cost of shipping as a favour if you are looking to save a few bucks :)

Edit: agreed, Ed is the guy for this type of thing ... he's much more of a woodworker than I :) ... the offer still stands for you though @Alexis

So many fun ways to make a stand.

I almost modified a small black locomotive choo choo. I was going to use the stack for the place to hold the coil post. I decided even though the idea was cool the train on my desktop was ridiculous. It completely crashed my minimalist soul so the idea died.

There is this steampunk store in town where there are lamps and many appliances disguised and made from old antique parts. Fish bowls in antique TV's. Weird lamps out of all kinds of surprising things. Everytime you look at something you notice something new.

The flowerpot would fit right in at that store just as it is. It is such a beautiful vape imo.

Getting the VROD any time now. Starting out with the sic dish at 700f. What the hell.

:brow:
Dude your analogies are fraggin on point!!!

 ... pretty sure everyone can find a block of wood or something and has a drill! (and can pick up a 1/4-20 tap for it at their local hardware store)

I'm just frugal at times and the costs of the stands seemed a little excessive (more of a "nice-to-have" item then a "need" item). I thought just getting the post was a good compromise :)

I might build a nicer stand at some point, but this is functional and safe which is what matters :)
I been waiting for that perfect piece of wood to come along for one. I have a stand but want to make a nice wood one as I have a extra post. Do you need that small oring I think it is wood at the bottom of the post on the threading bc I had lost it ? They come with the post.

I would say having that ring is beneficial ... I didn't inspect it too closely, but I actually thought it was mica (that was my assumption but I could be wrong).

That oring thing is mica and acts as a thermal barrier between the post and the post stand. You may end up with some scorched wood if you don’t use it.

Maybe, maybe not ... does it really stop the heat transfer that much as the threaded post is still metal on metal ...? (or with wood stand metal on wood)

Edit: Hi. Misread. Yes I believe the little ring St the bottom is mica as well. Heat is the enemy and any extra barrier would be good

It's brass according to NVs website.

@Justpassedu it's 1/4 20brass threaded insert. Should be able to find them online or at a local hardware store. Just make sure it's the 20 threading otherwise it won't fit. Could really use anything as long as it threads in, but would drfintitely suggest some type of insert for the longevity of the wood. Heat is really the enemy (and friend!)

I have a lag bolt in a piece of pinion pine, the wood gets warm, that's about it. It's like a 4" long 1/2" diameter bolt. I even clean my WA head with the halo at 1000F regularly on this stand.

Took me about 5 minutes to make.

Got back home and rewired the end for my High5/Omron controller ...
Any word on those connectors?

Also, with the Vrod I'm down to 585F.

My stand that I ordered a couple of months ago doesn't work, the Vrod does sick every time unless I brace it in an upright position with something, but I did order the new Ti post.

Thank you I probably have a rubber high temp O-ring I can try in place of it someplace. Appreciate that.

585F for concentrate? Or for flower? Or both?

Everything is ordered as of Monday. I expect to have everything but the stuff from NewVape between today and Monday. The stuff from NewVape I don't expect until end of next week or Monday the week after (they are 8-10 business days shipping to me for $34 USD!!!!)

As soon as I have the parts I'll assemble everything within a day and get it shipped out :)

Edit: in regards to that little ring (pretty darn sure it's mica), it makes an enormous difference. I can't feel any heat to speak of after having this thing on for 3/4 of an hour on the block of wood, but when I just tapped the base of the metal above that ring with my finger to test ... holy fuck it's hot!!!! ... so ... good thing I was super quick and preceded with caution, because that little ring makes one hell of a difference!! lol

FYI--I just had another 3 or 4 rosin dabs with my VROD and my first flower bowl ... the flower bowl surprised me at just how open the air flow was! ... wow! I think I need to slow down my draw as it wasn't fully extracted in the middle, but it was a killer hit and super tasty :)

Someone mentioned a few pages back about oil travelling up their dabber... I just got the four inch version of the NV dabber with the tiny ball on the end, definitely the best I've used for minimal to no oil travelling up the metal. A major improvement over the scoop I was using.

Highly recommended.

The shower head is better for herb by quite a bit ... thought the VROD would replace the shower head...it won't. The Showerhead gives a much more even and smooth extraction with flower for some reason.

I have darkness at the edges in the bowl and the center is much lighter. Not smooth even browning like the showerhead. Still feel fond for the VROD but it is not able to replace my Shower Head.

:2c:
Is the VROD better than the WA for flower?
