What do you guys think of the SiC FlowerPot vs the d-Nail SiC Halo?

Decisions, decisions ...

I think @invertedisdead thought you were talking about the D-Nail dish on a compatible FlowerPot Wrap-Around vs the smaller TAG sourced dish on the smaller Wrap-Around, in which case he's right and most people prefer the D-Nail dish if they're not on a tight budget.

If you actually meant the FlowerPot vs a whole kit from D-Nail, I've heard one or two people say they liked having their D-Nail setup for dabs separate, but I've heard a lot more people who have tried both say they prefer the D-Nail dish on a FlowerPot (D-Nail compatible Wrap-Around or the upcoming V Rod). I think a lot of it comes down to the flexibility of being able to do flower, concentrates or both at the same time.

If you're concerned about having a flower-free concentrate experience sometimes, you can either clean your bowl(s) or have an extra one dedicated to concentrates. Now that there are some appropriate glass bowls you can easily source (listed a few pages back), those might be a good cheap option for that purpose.

You can search the thread for people talking about it though, if you want to see the exact reasons they preferred one over the other. Personally I'd wait a few days and get the V Rod FlowerPot with a D-Nail dish (which I may end up doing soon too). :)

While I'm still loving my new FPSH, I'm a bit bummed that the new and improved version came out only 2 freakin' weeks after I got it. I know NV doesn't owe us anything but it would have been nice to know.
Even though there's nothing wrong with my setup, I still (reluctantly) may have to pick up a VRod.
If anyone is looking for a practically new SH set, let me know :\

Hmm ... looks like that might be my next purchase ... going to have to start saving!

Although looks like right now it's just $5 + $60 for the SiC dish ... (that page must not actually be live yet)

Hah...yeah, even the whole kit is listed at $5 right now, but all of those things are also listed as 500 pounds, so even if you managed to order it the shipping would make it cost a lot more than $5. ;)

It’s not supposed to be live though...we just tracked it down before they were ready for us! At least we can look at it while we wait though.

Would anyone be able to link a description or video on how the enail controller works. The temp? Im use to vaping stuff at 220C I have no idea what my herb is vaping at. I do not know how the controller works either. the manual is very confusing.

Earlier in the thread, @Stu did some temp measurements you could look up, but with convection vaporizers like this we seem to be able to get away with pretty high temps without combusting.

Some of us do wonder if we’re releasing anything we wouldn’t want at the higher temps with any high powered convection vaporizer, so if you’re worried you might want to stay in the lower range...maybe 550 to lower 600s on the controller. I hope eventually someone with access to the right equipment tests what we’re getting at various temps, but I don’t think most people are too concerned.

As for the controller, all you should really need to mess with to use the FP normally is the temp. There is a way to calibrate it which was discussed earlier in the thread, but all that would do is help keep it from overshooting the target temp and coming back down, and I don’t mind it doing that anyway.

It’s a pretty simple controller, as long as you don’t care about getting into the details of how it works...if you do for some reason, I’m not sure what to tell you. I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of detail about it beyond the manual, although there was a little bit of discussion when the manual came up earlier in the thread, and that might point you in the right direction to find more info on it.

I just set the temp to 680 and leave it.

All discussed earlier in the thread buddy! Theres a calibration mode explained and all that stuff. TLDR tho, you dont need to know any of it. All you need to know is the up n down temp controls.

Personally, I'd start your controller at any where between 580 and 650 and increase temps 10 degrees at a time to find a place you like. Some people like temps in the 700's, some like lower temps. I stick almost always at around 635.

If you're used to vaping at 220C (right on the edge of combustion) I would go straight to 700F on the PID. Perhaps even higher. I like 777F for giant rips because it allows one to extract faster than any vaporizer I've ever seen. Can milk a huge tube in under 5 seconds.

I like the V-Rod design very much. More elegant and I like the combination of the nut and coil shroud. Very nice.

I am also one of those people who have taken a K-type TC thermometer to try to determine the delta between dab surface (in the case of enails) and coil temp. I applaud all attempts to make coil fitment better and reduce this delta though in fact if you just use controller temp as a relative marker and not absolute it works just fine (I run my FP SH at 660-680 F controller set point).

As far as configuration/product changes and perhaps stranding people who recently ordered the older products (which are not old at all, really)....well, this happens in all industries and again, while I'm not a recent order person and one of those may well feel very differently, my view is that I favor continued innovation over design stability. Well, at least up to this point.

I will not be getting a V-rod anytime soon but that's only because I use my FP for flower only and am very happy with my current SH. If the V-rod had been out when I first purchased my kit, I probably would have gone for it minus the SiC insert just because I like the shroud/nut design. But for those who like to twax, it looks wonderful.

I see that there was a good bit of discussion about coil and coil connectors. I'm not touching that with a 10 foot pole as it was discussed quite a bit already and was not a subject that contributed very much to the harmony in this thread. LOL

they have always been good at listening to everyone on this forum even if they are not physically present .

Sorry, my friend, but this did give me a chuckle. :brow:

I just wish they would ship it. @newvape918 can I get an update on when orders placed on the 8th will ship?

Just an update for the sake of the company and other users: my order from the 8th did ship quite quickly, there was just a problem with the notifications. I got the email saying my order shipped yesterday and it's already in Australia. So in other words, newvape didn't take a long time to ship my order as I previously indicated. Also big thank you to @newvape918 for chasing things up and helping me out.

Damn! If it's that cheap I'll have to get one sooner than later...

But by the look of the 2 pieces of the V-Rod, it looks simpler to make then the WA so a lower price wouldn't surprise me.

BTW, about the re-cabling issue, why hasn't there been anyone who buys a NewVape Coil Extension Cable and modifies it to accept the Standard XLR plugs and pin-outs. Either that if you want your NV PID to work with Standard Coils, or you could also modify it to use other PIDS with the NV Coils...just saying...that way you leave the Coils Cables unmodified and if you mess it up the extension is cheaper, more then half price if my memory serves me well...

There are indeed other (D-Nail wired) coils which fit to the VRod. I would prefer a NV coil to be sure it fits but am absolutely not willing to rewire a brand new coil to make it fit together with my d-nail wired pid. Guess there are a lot of potential customers who are thinking the same.
I can understand why NV is using their own connector wiring but now it's definetly time for NV to offer an adapter at least to make it possible to their customers to use NV coils even if they have a D-Nail wired pid.
Otherwise a lot of NV coils which could be sold don't find their way to new owners.

Please @NewVape710 offer a coil adapter at least for customer's comfort and for your buisiness sake!

@SunnyHours, what are you dreaming about? $5 for a solid piece of US fabricated titanium?? ;)
It's a mistake with certainty.

LOL I didn't mean THAT(5$) cheap! Just cheaper than the 90$ heads they offer right now...

there is no standard for coil wiring..

how does newvape make an adapter for an ever changing wiring layout?

they'd have to have one for high-five, one for d-nail, one for company X, one for company Y, and thats assuming that new ones dont pop up, etc...

5 pins to connect to power, thermocouple, and ground which could be wired in any kind of order as, again, there is no standard.

seems like a hell of a lot more work than its worth thats for sure, trying to track down every single coil wiring schematic out there, and make an adapter for it. then hope someone buys it?

why go through all that when there is already a product that works? people just buy theirs, thats known to work or modify w your own connector.

dunno, i wouldnt count on an adapter though..

EDIT: seems like a project that a community member could take on for some cash, but dont know if it'd be worth it for a company, who is already trying to push other products to the market..

Please share where a Dnail style cable that is made with the same specs as the Nv coil is bc I could not find one that is 17mm in height with the same wrap direction as the NV coil ? I have tried several of mine with no luck .

@SunnyHours I can assure you the VRod will not be $5 , it is a place holder. Also you had mentioned it may be cheaper than the Sh and Wa as it looks easier to make and I believe more work has gone into this one than both the Sh & Wa and it was a harder design for them to pull off.

@JCat I'd take one also lol .
