I believe the aluminum still have faceted bottoms and the steel have always been flat. For what its worth the flat bottom is far more accommodating for loading on a table. I have one in each size and material.

Don't mind the flat bottom are all. Not flipping it upside down much, but it would be a good spot to engrave something.

I bought a large aluminum back in August of last year and it has the beautiful, beveled bottom. It was a surprise,

since I too believed, they had gone to flat bottoms.

Would you mind showing us a photo of your beveled bottoms? I'm curious why you got them and everybody else seems to have gotten flat bottoms on their SS grinders. If it was a surprise when it arrived, then you didn't ask for anything special from them...

I wonder if by beveled you mean that the edge is rounded like in my photo rather than squared off? Earlier SS versions seemed to have a 90° edge. I'm thinking you don't mean faceted like the top and bottom are on the aluminum versions. It is the faceting that I would like to see on the SS version.

Added: Sorry @Shrike . Thought you said SS even tho it says aluminum right in the quote. I blame the drugs...

They said it was aluminum that they got not SS... so maybe BCG did not end up changing the bottom for the color aluminum grinders?
