Brilliant Cut Grinder

I’m finally ready for a new grinder. The roughly 10 year old sharpstone isn’t really sharp at all anymore.

Now I’m asking myself constantly if I should go for the larger version. I like the idea of more storage room since the magnet in the middle is obviously reducing the chamber size but I fear the bigger version is somehow clumsy.
Is there anybody owning both versions and is still preferring the small BCG and why? Anybody bought the larger BCG and wished they went for the smaller one instead?

I have both the large and small. Really depends on how much bud you're going through I suppose.

In general so far I think I prefer the small, just on size factor alone. I dont need the extra size so I think the small will get more use from me, personally. I find it's more comfortable in the hands, although the large could be easier for some with grip issues, I am thinking.

Realistically what I'll end up doing is keeping a fine plate in one and a medium in the other, and just switching between grinders rather than swapping plates. Idk. Nice to have options I suppose

BIGGER... easier to load pieces ... easier to hold & turn .... my small sees no action anymore.

I only own the small but with the magnetic closure, I’ve started keeping my herb in the grinder instead of decanting to a small jar. Dead easy access with no threading to keep clean.

The magnets are strong enough and the tolerances tight enough that I don’t feel I’m losing much freshness and if I grind a bit less to compensate, it means I get to use my BCG a bit more often, a bonus. Love this thing.

That said, if you’re grinding hay bales, go size.

I purchased the large and did not care for it. I have problems in left hand and the finish was too slick for me to be able to grip and grind effectively. I suspect that the smaller size would have allowed for a better grip.

Good luck with your decision.

I like the small size better, but I’m only 90lbs and 5’ tall myself.
I find the small is easier for me to turn and seems slightly smoother/less give? On the centre post?
also the magnets are a little strong on the large, the small is just right resistance for me.

The large size is awesome for grinding whole buds, if that’s your thing.

buy both if you can like I did!

still haven’t cleaned and even stopped brushing out any parts. It’s the EnergizerBunny of grinders.

I emailed GFL about the bags when I had placed on order at the beginning of April and they told me they were discontinuing the bags because of the letters coming off. They said they may reintroduce them at some point.

Even without lettering it would be nice to have some sort of storage bag provided imo, especially considering how pricey these are.

I can't help but to check the tracking each day to see if any updates to the shipment of my BCG. However, so far the last update was on the 14th of July from Surrey BC, it's being sent with Asendia, which perhaps is a little bit slower than the other more expensive shipping options. Anyway, one day I will check to find it has been updated! haha. Looking forward to it!

Is there a shipping thread for the BCG? if not, it sure needs one.
There is a BCG shipping thread, I put my order details on it for the interest of anyone else when the notice of completion of my BCG came through, but that thread hadn't been getting any posts for a while. All in all it doesn't matter, I am just rapt to be getting one. After all this is a grinder for life so what's a few weeks!

Shipping update: I have been checking the shipping everyday from the link given, but it showed my BCG had been sitting in BC Canada for 2 weeks unchanged since I received notification of its shipment. On a whim I googled and got the direct Asendia site and tried entering the tracking number in that, which surprisingly showed a bunch of updates and it has now passed to my local courier agent with a new tracking number and it is now showing imminent delivery, awesome, yeehaaa!

Now that I've read about they don't send them out without bags, they won't get a sale from me anymore!
The tool is the grinder, that's the only thing that matters. The bags are incidental. I would never think to not get an excellent tool because of some inexpensive, lint-collecting bags;
that are of the same lower quality you get with some makeup purchases. If anyone thinks it's important to have, they can buy their own cheap, pull strings bags.

💯 The bags were cute and a nice touch but I have personally not actually used them once and can confirm they are nothing special in terms of quality. The 7-10 week wait is for a badass grinder.

i just sold my large, useless if you are used to a medium, teeth placement is NOT the same as a medium, wished this was advertised since it directly effects how I load my bcg.

I load top side in order to reduce cleaning on the side teeth as much, loading top side is not possible anymore since the teeth placement is so spaced out, you cant even shove a .3 nug in there - it will fall out.

and tbh i read Taz's post as a joke, but yall taking it so seriously lol

You've mentioned this exact thing before, which is fine because I guess we do the same thing with positive posts, though I don't think you're really supposed to with negative posts...? But anyway I think it's apparent that the teeth are different, more space for loading, although I do not load the lid, do not see the need for this particular grinder personally though I have for others! However I do think the smaller size is a bit easier to hold and turn when you are loading with dense sticky nugs for that initial turn on a fuller load... better clutching :2c::peace::tup:

I could have sworn they did mention that the teeth layout on the large provided a couple areas you can load your herb.

Edit: I just checked and they do mention "new loading zones" in the teeth layout.

I prefer loading the large with the loading zones, it makes it easier compared to the regular. The problem I run into is over packing it and that initial turn is not buttery smooth. I load a little less, which is still more than the regular size and problem solved!
