Concerning the isolated airpath- I modded the MP so it's airtight, and I do get a decent hit. When placing my finger over the bottom air intake air seemed to be sucking in thru buttons and the usb port.. is this a defective unit? This is referring to a red cfv.. the black seems to function better idk why, like I said might be a defective unit.

My thoughts is if it's an isolated airpath, if u were to place something over the beggining of the path to restrict airflow It would be impossible to suck

How did you mod the MP? Pictures?

Thanks

Pretty sure it's been talked about in this thread and r/boundlessvapes you just grab a rubber faucet oring #10 danco (if you can find it) 47 cents at ace hardware. Just take the clear silicone ring off from the inside of MP and pop the new oring. Fills the gap better but doesn't allow the MP to sit flush. BOUNDLESS HAS RESOLVED THE ISSUE. All newer units have updated MP from what I've heard

Did you contact their support service to report the issue? Better let them know about it early before they enter full production.
It's the weekend. Figured I'd ask around and see What everyone's experience who has one has been.. R&D collaboration with my fellow FC's. nah meen? Lol

I'm really diggin the wpa/jhook/wood ring when at home.
Whole nug method.
After pulling nug and breaking up...oh my!
Flavor is cool, tasty, and thick as hell!

418 is my sweet spot.
How bout y'all?

I usually finish a bowl off by stepping up to 446.
Abv is very similar to my enano, like all the goodness has been wrung out.

The mouthpiece is slightly more harsh because of additional vapor length with jhook, but also because the wpa helps absorb some heat as well.

I'm gonna take the wpa instead of the mouthpiece out & about today to compare.

I gave it a quick clean today, which is super easy since most parts that come in contact with material and vapor are removable.
Took bowl apart and brushed all parts clean, iso soaked qtip the screen in wpa and mouthpiece after a quick water rinse that was it.

Easy maintenance/cleaning
Cool tasty thick vapor
Innovative interchangeable ring system
It's more than passing the grab test too!
Lots of pluses with this one.

Found out the hard way don't soak the mp in iso. The red coating came off and now it's silver

I guess the quality is not up to par with, let's say, Crafty, yet... I wouldn't put those plastics in my mouth to be true... Bummer!

It wasn't the plastic idc how "high quality" crafty and mighty. They are over priced. And from what I see break down all the time. I can replace the MP which boundless is already mailing so prob fixed. haven't noticed any off gassing. Don't use straws!!! There made of plastic. regardless cfv is cool as hell and due deligience from boundless makes this an awesome vape.

Just to go back to battery replacement a moment, while I do understand that many people, people who perhaps are not as much into the arcane and detailed aspects of vaping, do prefer simplicity and just charging a device with non-replaceable batteries provides that.

However, I think these same people may well change their mind as they get an education into Li Ion battery life when their unit craps out from charge/decharge cycling and they have to send it back to the manf for battery replacement.

Personally, while not a show stopper for me with the CFV, it is a high priority item for me and I would far, far prefer replaceable 18650's. While I suppose built in USB charging circuity would be useful for many who are very mobile with their vapes (can charge from car USB port, for example), added circuity is added cost and added failure modes. Its a trade off and speaking only for myself I would prefer a nice external charger (which I have) and replaceable batteries and can live without built in charging capability.

I feel that way particularly with my Grasshopper where circuit real estate is at a premium and heat dissipation is a tougher problem. Most folks posting about it use external chargers. I think I used the built in charging function once then abandoned it.

This device may well be on my x-mas present list for myself :-)

How long was it in the ISO for? Like many I use ISO to clean out the gunk inside the mouthpiece after removing the honey-trapping screen. I guess they're using some kind of paint on top of the plastic instead of fully red (?) plastic? I did notice it seems like a different type of plastic compared to the CFX's mouthpiece. More malleable and bendable.

I soaked the mp about 2 mins and noticed paint coming off. I removed the silver layer and now it's all black so looks fine again. Now it didn't affect the black mp at all so yeah black mp with silver painted and then red top coat. No red plastic. Idk about the body that's just pertaining to the mp.

Added cost is below 50 cents in practice and the IC's are reliable and proven usually. But you can have both internal charging and removable cells, most good modern e-cig mod boxes handle that without any problem.

I think they are just afraid of the legal implications. The main problem is that you can't warranty that the user will use the right kind of high discharge cell. Convection is really power hungry, you need beefy cells. So I think it's more a liability issue... but apart from that I'm with you, it would be better if it was swap-able.

Could we get an answer from the manufacture as to the grade of the plastic that is used in the vapor path or has this already been discussed? (gotta be careful with this request as it may have to go to a thread on it's own.)

I too am curious of this answer @Boundless Vape Technology.

I wouldn't put those plastics in my mouth

I guess they're using some kind of paint on top of the plastic

And of all of the above quotes, the last one, imho, is of major concern. I asked awhile back what grade of plastic is being used in the vapor path and now that it's been mentioned that "some kind of paint on top of the plastic" is being used, these questions as it pertains to possible health concerns "should" be addressed here by the manufacturer.

Still waiting for some answers.

Putting painted Chinese plastic in our mouths "should" be a concern for all of us. This may be a total non-issue but until we get some definitive answers from the manufacturer, for me, I'll hold off on this purchase.

I was not talking about the overall quality of Crafty and Mighty of course. I sold my Crafty cause it proved to be prone to malfunctions and battery crapped out faster than I would like. I was just talking about their plastic quality which of course are not painted plastics... Sorry but I don't trust painted plastic as a vapor pathway unless it is somehow proved safe. Which I doubt.

So if I am reading this correctly in theory purchasing the Black cfv unit would mean the mp is not painted?

That's correct, the user who had the issue with the red had a black in the ISO bath too and it was fine.

How 'bout the mouthpiece?

It depends on what you're calling the mouthpiece.
The actual tip of the mouthpiece, the swiveling portion where the vapor comes out, is not painted. It's black or red plastic.

The part that locks onto the unit and contains the o-ring and screen has 'paint' on its exterior surface, but not inside.

I'm going to soak my whole top portion in alcohol and see what happens.

I asked this a while back in the CF/CFX thread about the quality of the plastic being used as well, however I did not get an answer.

There is definitely an issue with using ISO on these units. The plastic will start staining and whatever layer is on the outside looks like it gets removed completely. I'm not sure how the heck you clean these units without using ISO. The chamber area gets extremely dirty after a while, however it's not possible to get it clean. I tend to just brush it since ISO just ruins the whole thing within seconds. Three of my friends also have a CF (all recommended by me for newcomers) and the plastic seems like it's melting around the mouth piece area and cracking on the side. All of them have that issue so I'm starting to believe these plastic are not up to par and I'm honestly not sure how safe it is to inhale and heat up daily.

Can someone from Boundless address these questions we have about the plastic being used in these products? Now I'm hearing the CFV being coated by a red paint which a big huge no-no for me.

Could you please give us the specs of the grade of plastic(s) used in the CFV?

TIA
