Good thing I have 4 more mPT2s coming from Arizona at seven bucks ea, with 20 of the 2.5 ohm heads. Grand total fifty two bucks shipped. That's acceptable.
My new unthinned Sour Diesel oil mPT2 is vaping OK, but it's lacking the right terpene profile or whatever it is that makes SD so perfect 4 me. It feels more like a silly sativa, the confusing slices are dominant. Maybe just a bad strain, a bad grow, badly aged, badly extracted, who knows. It said Sour Diesel oil, 68% THC, $15. The last two seem accurate ;-)
If I hadn't ordered those extras ProTanks, I'd be warming-or-thinning what I could outta there to save it, before rinsing the mPT2 with grain alcohol and starting the build all over with a new head and a different erl. With a bigger cheap ProTank inventory I can just set this whole apparatus aside, locked and loaded, for - I'm not sure.
@tepictoton is using Lemonene, that's a whole different approach I'd love to hear more about. I've only used glycols, and EJMix rules in that world.
When loading a bottom-feeding tank like the mPT2 with PureGold or unthinned oil, pre-wetting the wick (with EJMix) is essential. And if the feed ever gets slow, if it ever hints at burning, two techniques are important to help it feed:
1) As per previouslously: Warm the head by pulsing the button, block the airholes of the ProTank as it sits mounted on the eGo type battery, and suck. It pulls some more erl into the reaction chamber. Not too much. You want all the session remainder to solidify and block the 510 connector's air-hole. It's good then you kinda pop it as you start the session. That rather guarantees zero leaks.
2) On a fixed voltage eGo battery, 2.5 ohms is good, as
@Haywood said, ages ago. With a little luck you won't run it dry and burn it. But with unthinned erl, it's always a delicate balance. If in doubt, drip a little EJMix down the driptube, try two drops, give it a moment, pulse a little. This way you can weak the erl's thickness as needed, right there on the wick, without committing to a dilution of the whole batch.
If you do decide this oil is just too dense and going to have to be thinned, you can open the tank TOP and add a little EJMix. The fact that only the pit contains oil means the threaded base isn't immersed. You can tape the whole bottom assembly to the glass tube so it doesn't come apart, take off the drip tip, then unscrew the top, taking the threaded airtube with it. Then add EJMix or a pre-mixed blend along the glass tube
sides, then screw everything back together.
I like the Kanger single coils better all around. I've even been using mPT3 bodies with mPT2 single coil heads by adding silicone caps from old heads as washers or spacers. Works great.
After it all flows down, you can fit almost a g of erl down on the deck, in the pit, invisible. The dialogue "They're my e-cig cartridges. This one's Vanilla, this one's Strawberry, this one .. it's empty ..."
I don't think the Sapphires are rebuildable or worth a lot of attention. They do an acceptable job with EJMix-thinned stuff if you burp and coddle 'em, end o' story. One positive side is the transparency.
