BAKx - bake all kinds

How is the BAKx with ground herb? Would it make sense to buy it if you only wanted to use it in this?

What makes this vape special in your opinion?
It's sort of amazing with ground herbs. The clouds are thick.

What makes it special I think is the flavor, the roast, the high, and the hand-built beauty. It's a rare vape that I almost always hit direct instead of going through water, mostly because of the flavors but also it's just a comfortable way to use it. It's great for hash, of course, or broken buds. Ground flower get cloudy quick!

Yes of course, that's still primarily how I use it, need to test more concentrate with it...

What makes this vape special in your opinion?

It is such simple pure powerful conduction, fantastic flavor and effects for thorough hybrid experience with excellent vapor quality, whole nugs are pretty unparalleled here, so many different ways to enjoy...

This and Tetra are really all I would ever need at home honestly, easy top two for me there

Fantastic setup, wow. Tell us more about the stem?

Thank you, I’m really happy with the overall setup and especially the stem which is from GVB:

The stem feels really nice on the lips, provides great cooling, and is much easier to clean thanks to the cooling logs instead of the marbles. Quality is great as always from GVB. Plus, it just looks pretty sexy. :brow:

Is it possible for someone who owns both the bakx and the tempest or other ball vapes to comment on the difference in performance both objective and subjective? This is a vape that has interested me for some time, and I see this as the end game for conduction while ball vapes seem to be end game for convection, so the contrast would be interesting to hear about.

Not here, that would be a question for ask FC because you are asking for direct comparison really... Essentially they are really almost nothing alike though?

This is a vape that has interested me for some time, and I see this as the end game for conduction while ball vapes seem to be end game for convection, so the contrast would be interesting to hear about.

This is so good for conduction because it has full power modularity and purity with its simplicity... Ball vapes only seem that way because it is a simple way to get strong air flow and high surface area heater with rubies for strong heat retention and easy heating with PID enails etc. or torch too?

They are in their own category of convection, and there are a wide variety of them, so I would not consider them endgame, just another option depending what you were looking for... And I don't think they are at all similar comparably to BAK (unless you are getting Vulcan heated bowl setup or electropath where you are turning them into hybrid conduction vapes heating the tube around in a similar way the ribbon coil heats around the glass tube in BAK, but the idea is to keep the temperature low for the conduction extraction, just to make it a full even hybrid extraction once you put the baller vape on there for the convection air flow inhale... If you tried to use that setup full conduction, maybe it could be more similar to BAK in a sense, but it is a much larger bowl and might not work as well with a large whole nug etc I don't know not sure if people have done that direct comparison)

Tempest thermal accumulator is a specific type of ball vape in a little vap cap stem vape form factor, designed for puffing like a joint from one heat up, sometimes you can use BAK in a similar way of puffing as it's heating for you but again it's so different because more pure conduction compared to pure convection even though there could be some hybrid effect for both... I just really don't consider them similar in use or vapor quality frankly, though they are certainly adequately efficient and flavorful, great experiences

Either everything is totally sold out already or I just don’t understand how to navigate the website.

I guess the drop is only for 40 units, so likely it’s all about the quick draw, but I get confused because it looks like there are units on the website so I manually add each one only to have to check the cart to see if it has the out of stock asterisks.

I’m getting too dumb for these things.

Not at all, you just missed this bit on top of the device page:

units displayed here are sold already, there will be more.

Really enjoying the Coiled 18mm Quartz cap. Especially with whole nugs. Which naturally made me remember this vape which seems like a portable version. Is that comparison fair? Also, is it more like the 14mm QC in terms of bowl size?

I own the 18mm quartz cap, the torched version. Admittedly, I haven't used the 18mm QC in quite a while (probably since I got my BAKx), so my comparison might not be 100% accurate.

Personally, I'd definitely compare the BAKx to TRWW's TEDs. The Terpcicle is probably closer to the BAKx than the 18mm QC - the QC has a very open airflow, while the BAKx is slightly more restricted, more like a Terpcicle. As for bowl size, I'm not sure how much the 14mm QC holds, but I can easily fit up to 5 nuggets in the BAKx, or just a tiny amount of ground material if I prefer. So bowl size is kind of a non-issue with this vape - the bowl is big enough to send you to nirvana, but microdosing works perfectly too. The vapor production and quality are also out of this world, a great mix of conduction and convection.

Nice thanks. Do you know how much they normally cost via the drop? I assume Cannabissommelier have stock because they are charging a premium.

I believe the starting price for the Drop at shop.lamart.ch is around 230 Swiss Francs. But securing one during the drop must be incredibly nerve-wracking and requires a lot of luck. I personally bought mine, including the box mod, from cannabissommelier for 560 Francs. That's definitely more expensive, but the purchase was super relaxed. I could buy exactly the unit I wanted and got some extra accessories too. Right now, neither shop has any units available (the ones at cannabissommelier cannot be bought, unfortunately this is a bit confusing in the store), but I think cannabissommelier will be getting some more soon.

For me personally, it's one of the best investments I've ever made, and I'm even considering getting a second BAKx because it's such an incredibly good and versatile vape. I'd recommend keeping an eye on cannabissommelier.ch and joining the Lamart Discord (https://discord.com/invite/q8EJUvhwXR) for drop announcements.

EDIT to add: the 230 Swiss Franks do not include the box mod.

I noticed some users like @Shit Snacks mention how the vapour can be harsh. This surprised me a bit as I'm finding the vapour very comfortable in the coiled 18mm QC, even with a 0.3g bowl, on a small j-hook.

I believe it's probably because I'm using whole nugs, and drawing on the device as its going up through the gears. Starting with pure terps, and ending with a deep dark coffee conduction roast. So the experience is more like a faster session style as opposed to an on demand style.

I'm wondering if the BakX could be used similarly? Or does it ramp up to temp too quick, and therefore provide more of an on demand experience?

I think the vapor path also plays a role here. The standard BAKx stem is straight and relatively short, while a J-hook will definitely cool more by default. While I also find the vapor of the BAKx with the standard stem to be somewhat harsh (although not very, but more than a TM2, for example), this is not the case with a longer stem (in my case from GVB) or with a WPA/J-hook combo. Especially at lower temperatures, the BAKx is actually very smooth IMO, but your mileage may vary.

I don't think I've tried the standard stem, tbh. I ordered a nice GVB one right after i ordered the BAK and I used that for the first few weeks. I got the 14mm wpa with my set so I use that with a High Artisan steamroller thingy. Both of those direct setups are nice and comfortable, no real heat or irritation besides occasional terps. I recently got an 18mm female adapter/bowl for the BAK and I use that on a small male dab rig, also for great results. It's not hard to find something that will work for you given the available options.

I also purchased the full kit from CS and not one regret came with it. I would have loved to save the extra money but I have the BAKx now in hand, which is my preference. ; )

I don't think it has anything to do with that really? I just find only the low temps tolerable for me, the extraction is just so deep and thorough, I find it very harsh, and with whole nugs the tasty vapor is so pure, I prefer less cooling... BAK is best with my small bubs and simple dry glass for me personally (I can do one hitters with ground loaded through water with more diffusion) I just find the hybrid conduction harsher than the pure convection of Tetra by comparison, that experience holds pretty true with me across other devices, depending on use, for general harshness coughing, above lowest temps, but yeah the style of use how many hits how big at what settings etc is different for me

I imagine I would use it the same way. Thanks SS
