So, twice now I've broken the upper glass stem, this time a chunk at the top (the lipped part). Instead of binning it, I filed down the broken edges, (gently, using the serrated part of a pliers - a nail file would do the job too. Rinse well - don't want to inhale powdered glass :p) and simply flipped it over. Keep forgetting there's no lip anymore and push it back in too far when I'm finished a session but apart from that it works perfectly, at least until the replacement arrives.

Since you already experienced a broken glass stem, I would recommend a 14mm wong from eds tnt. If you want glass, I would purchase the 14mm adapter straight from ascent. The glass is much thicker and is one piece. You will need a screen (I use the new glass spacers as my screen)

Yo guys so I accidentally left my ascent charging all night and all day, the manual said specifically not to over-charge it..do you think it's ok? It's working fine right now.

Probably very little if any damage from a single event, just don't make a habit of it.

It's a great vape, enjoy it.

Yeah you should be fine just don't do it too much. For optimal battery life wait until your unit is 10% or lower to charge (NOT COMPLETELY DEAD) and unplug it as soon as it's charged. If you're planning on storing the device fully charged, I would do a quick 5 minute session as storing batteries 100% charged can have a little effect on the battery life. This can be done with nothing in the bowl.

So charge at about 10%, unplug at about 90-95% and you'll have optimum battery life. Same advice goes for any electronic device that uses rechargeable Li-ion batteries.

I prefer using the glass or wooden WonG with my unit. here is a pic that includes a glass and a WonG. There is also a wooden style stock stem (with o-ring to help with seal) and the glass flowers. You can get a hold of @Ed's TnT for a WonG. I've posted this pic before.

Yes but that would be easier to do if you updated the firmware with a relatively trivial fix: tell your engineers that instead of displaying the charging animation merely as a loop, they should use the icon to display the charge level. It's how it's done in the FM5-Pro (and also on most electronic devices having a screen)

You know, start with the loop as it is (empty, 1, 2, 3...) then leave the first "bar" always on and keep animating the remaining (2, 3,...) then leave the second bar on etc...and when it's complete all bars are on.

Totally understand what you're saying but unfortunately there's no way to update the firmware in the Ascents currently out. In the future we will display it differently.

Anyone no how to do a reset on the ascent.thanks
Hold all three buttons down for 7 seconds. There is no indication that it is reset, so to check that it was done properly you can look at the vapor cycle times and temps. They should all be reset back to 375 for 3 minutes. Your timer, and default temperature will also be set to factory settings as well.

Speaking of funky goings on.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
My Ascent works fine, and has ever since day one, except for the fact that after charging it will not turn on except while it is plugged in to charge. I have to turn it on while connected to charging power until after it 'boots' and then disconnect the power. Afterwards, it will power up fine, (well as fine as the power switch allows, but that is just a minor annoyance with how hard it is to activate), but having to remember to boot a portable vape while charging before it can be used away from the charger is a major headache.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

Hey! I just shared this with our engineer. I was aware that if one of the batteries was damaged, (volts don't match) that the unit will only work when it is plugged in because at that point it is pulling voltage from the wall, but in this case the vape will ONLY work when plugged into the wall so your batteries should be ok.

Our engineer is saying there might be some sort of glitch in your PCB to where its pulling and using unnecessary electricity, even while the unit is off. I'll send you a PM to discuss warranty! Glad to know your vape is still working and that definitely is some funky stuff going on. Never seen this issue before!

I have the same problem with mine. Not really a problem because I rarely use it on the go, I just need to be able to use it when traveling, so the charger is on my permanent packing list.

It seemed odd that it wouldn't work without being plugged in the first few times I tried it, after that I just kinda looked forward to charging it because doing so made a session necessary. :p

I recently went a month without using it and was happy to find a small charge when I turned it on after that time. So I used it, charged then got in another quick session. Still loving the taste on this vape.

That's so weird! How long ago did you purchase that? It seems like this is a recent issue and you're the third person to say something. The first user that posted on here hasn't gotten back to us, and there was another one on Reddit that doesn't want to send his in. If you want to get this fixed, go ahead and let me know. We'd love to dig deeper into this.

Hi dacinci_manufacturer, could you please help, I have had my fifth or sixth warranty replacement sent.( I have lost count now) I am pretty fed up with your company if someone had said when I purchased the ascent that over the next year and a half I would pay a further $200 in warranty costs I would never have bought the ascent. I am on limited funds due to ill health and the last replacement which cost me another $50 in postage has a battery capacity of 25mins. Please help one fed up customer!

You mean you're going to pass on Ascent based on the OP's experience? You call of course, but I suggest there are way more folks who've had zero problems? I suspect there's not another owner with so many returns, nor paid as much per return (save our overseas friends WRT postage costs)?

I for sure have had no such problems with mine.

You should, of course, do what you think it best, but IMO it's a pity to miss out on this excellent vape on thin evidence. There's 8,000 posts here, why not take a random sample of say 25 and see how many of them are talking about such failures as opposed to discussing working units?

I hope you enjoy whatever vape you buy, but IMO this one is well worth considering.

I've seen a trove of posts explaining experiences like this. I really want to believe the Ascent is a good vaporizer but I'd like something that lasted for more than one year. Please make the case for this vape. What has your experience been?

I've also read that they have made improvements with the current cache of units.

I was an early buyer of the Ascent Aug 2013 and I had to return a unit but I've had the same Ascent it will be 2 years this Oct. Its not my daily driver but I haven't had any problems with it. It's in the line up.

The Ascent has one of the best vapor flavorls of all my portables. It could be so flavorful because of the all glass airpath. Your exact temp can be dialed in. You can use a large full load or use the glass spacer for a smaller session.

If a person has a problem with their Ascent they are more likely to complain here on the thread. If their unit is running smoothly they may not even comment at all. You hear the complaining loud and clear but not always the compliments.

It's your money to invest in whatever portable that you want. Do your homework and read and investigate. Don't just take a couple peoples word as gospel.

If you read what I posted carefully you'll find "I for sure have had no such problems with mine." That still holds. No problems of note. Good performance, very happy and recommending Ascent for consideration.

I know for sure there are many more happy owners than sad, I've read the entire thread you see.

Probably the best history of trouble free performance in this class (temperature controlled portables) is Solo. It's cousin Air is too young (9 months?) to be as sure but it too shows no common faults.

I've also read that they have made improvements with the current cache of units.

Indeed. And that would be the group you'd be buying from, right? Not two year old ones.....

Interesting choice of terms. "Cache" is a collection, not ongoing production, right? They no doubt ship as fast as they can make 'em rather than sit on them. Then again "trove" is a 'collection of valuable/interesting objects'.........

Your call, good luck with it.
