The glass stem design...I love it! It has a little play in it so you don't have to worry about breaking it with a little adjustment. And if the rubber seals at the ends of the air path are working you will never taste anything but glass. I don't think tightening up this glass would be good at all...too tight and you risk easy breakage.

Battery life...I'll have to test this. The problem is that it has an auto shutoff that is motion sensitive, so I can't just turn it on and leave it there. Five sessions seems like a bare minimum to me. SliM is getting six sessions and he runs it on high the whole time. I think eight to ten lower temp session is very doable.

Like sticks said the glass stem design is good in my. You really don't want the glass scrapping against each other. You might be able to reduce airflow by reducing that gap. The manufacturer would risk making the device more fragile.

I would say I get 6-7 sessions around 10-20 minute each on high. I could probably get 8 if I pushed the battery. Running the unit as hot as I do will reduce battery life. I feel like for my expectations that is a pretty decent runtime for a portable.

• Cleaning. Should be a lot easier compared to the Solo, because you can remove like 90% of the air path tubing and let it sit in isopropyl alcohol.

How could anything get easier to clean than the Solo? All you do is place one piece of glass in iso and return...and it's not even glass that's inside the vape. But even better, use that Solo stem to make a nice glass of hot chocolate and clean it that way. Don't get me wrong...this vape is easy to clean, but you can't get any easier than the Solo unless you had someone else do it for you.

That seems like a longer battery life then any other portable so that is great.
Is it confirmed that the whistling sound was from Will pulling to hard as I heard none of you complain about it?

Sor. What if there were a ring around the glass screen piece to keep the outside glass piece from letting extra air through. Since the glass slide can't be made smaller cause it would scratch the other glass causing breaks, but you could put a small rubber ring made out of whatever they make the oil cartridges lids out of. This would still allow for sliding while blocking the extra air from the slide pieces, allowing for larger hits. I saw this idea on the dv FB by someone and it actually made sense to me. Do you guys think that would be viable?

Loving all the reviews so far guys I thought the review from Will was fair and honest IMO. Also concerned about the whistling sound? It sounds exactly like my old DV to be honest. Very fast draw. Can anyone comment on the cleaning of the actual unit itself? How mucky is it getting in the bowl and hinge areas? I wouldn't compare this to my Solo really as the Ascent has the look of pure stealth about it, the solo looks like a crack pipe!

I have to admit, the silicone smell comments had he worried but if sticks says it taste great then thats more then enough for me. Yep you can add me to the list of "is it out yet". Not a real question please hold the red type.

When I used the Ascent there was no off-taste of any kind. If there is an initial taste then it must have disappeared from that unit.

There is a whistling sound when Will pulls on it, which tells me he's drawing too hard. That would also explain why his vapour seems wispy and the temperature seems low. Again, when I tried it there was no whistling and the vapour production was just what I expected for the temperature we selected (190°C I think it was). Then again, I'm pretty good at knowing when I'm pulling too hard.

I have to do some yard work today. I need like a hands free attachment for when I am using the push mower. Something that holds the Ascent in front of your face so you can take hands free hits and keep your hands on the machine.

If you had the GonG adapter and a whip with a GonG female on one end you could hook it all up and turn it on and use the whip while you walk.

Sorry, I didn't se any of that in the videos and was a complaint of the video maker, so that's the reason I brought this up. I know the glass is inside, but what I saw was the two pieces sliding over each other . When the reviewer pulled the glass screen out, there was no ring on it.

Don't get me wrong...this vape is easy to clean, but you can't get any easier than the Solo unless you had someone else do it for you.

Thanks paka, that is exactly what I thought about the whistle and the vapor even though I didn't mention it. At least you cleared it up. As we know with all vapes there is a learning period to find the right draw speed for the specific vape and then burn it into our muscle memory.

Slim, put the thing in your pocket as always and just attach a whip directly to the glass. I think 1/2" should fit fine if I am guessing right. Then just leave the glass pushed in as much as you can so it is not popped up and enjoy the garden.

I meant to comment on the whistling...sorry I forgot to earlier. I never noticed a whistle until I cleaned it after my reclaim disaster.

My unit did not initially whistle and after I inserted the slightly wet glass back into the unit I got a whistle and was surprised. It lasted for a couple of sessions, but I didn't notice it this afternoon on the beach (although I was using it natively instead of drawn). I'll check this out later, as I don't like the whistle. But mine didn't do it as delivered. If it whistles, it's adjustable somehow because mine didn't out of the box.

Our reviewers have chimed in that it is most likely an overly aggressive draw through the holes in the grill to the bowl (there is a minor path in there for which it has been mentioned that some of the heating occurs).

Its too bad all you guys that's re testing these units don't live in Canada, cause I'd even send some oil to one of you to test if you lived in Canada and had a medical license like myself.
I just made 5 grams of nice thick honey oil for the vape coming my way the ascent.
These reviews are great and videos too I wish there could be a bit more actual videos of the while process from pack to session to abv just to see the whole aspect of this unit in action.
Anyway oil is so much more potent and the need to use a lot is not nessaary due too the high tch,cbd,cbn content cause of extraction of the oils, allways higher in tch the herb so it would be nice treat to see it in use in the oil canisters.
I wish I could try these oil canisters and see the vapor production in these oil canisters in the ascent cause it does serve a medical purpose and should be discussed and tested so all will know how this ascent works with oils.
You can't hardly test this unit with herb only and give it a review the has to be oil in the mix too.
It needs to be tested and reviewed other wise it is a one sided test and review so so get this thing reviewed in its entirety hey.
