Wow! 160+ posts (not counting whatever was deleted) to catch up on... Y'all haz been some busy vapers. :)

THR, SLiM, Sticks --
Thank you all for all of your ongoing input. I'm glad I have all of this new data to mill over. And I look forward to your reflections as your experience base continues to grow.

There is a lot in the last 36-ish hours of posts that I'd like to provide some input on, but the head is still spinning from trying to process all of the posts. :) And, honestly, some of the replies would be "stale" by now anyway. I did want to reply to SLiMs Friday night posting, but by the time I read it that night, my sentences were at odds with coherence, and now head is doing that aforementioned spinning.

I think I need to step away from keyboard now.
:)

Hey everyone!

I've been following this thread since it was about page 70 or so, and just now decided to make an account to ask some questions now that there are testers among us.

I noticed from the pictures that there are holes in the bottom of the chamber. Couldn't this potentially cause buds to fall out, especially if well ground or while stirring?

Also, one of the main reasons I'm investing in a vaporizer is because I'm still living at home and need discreteness. Can any of the testers say how much smell it emits : 1- With unvaped bud in the chamber. 2- while vaping. 3- After vaping

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a tad curious and this would be my first vaporizer.

Anyone see vapelife will Ascent review on YouTube posted less than 30 min.

Thoughts?

I think he's disappointed but with all the Solo talk and him selling them in the video, makes you wonder what his agenda really is.

Still no oil reviews, that is disappointing but maybe it is not a highlight of the product if they didn't line up people to review.

monty...I have no fear of the bottom holes. the only time anything came out of there was when I blew into it. I wouldn't put my kief in there first, but on top of ground bud is not a problem. I just used a fully packed bowl with just a little layer of cotton on top just to keep everything clean and the thing delivers the goods. Every time I pack a full bowl I get blasted.

For all you Solo lovers...here are my thoughts after two full days with it. You can get Solo clouds on this thing, but it's different. I never use my Solo above 3 (or 4 with Ed's wood stem). Anything above that just feels harsh to me and loses taste. And I get fully medicated at that temp. I have yet to get similar clouds with this unit on the lower temps. I can hit it on the higher temps, but the difference here is that the Ascent tastes better at it's higher temps than the Solo...and it never gets harsh. I can get a great sativa type high at lower temps, and that's reassuring when you're not ripping big clouds (I know...I'm a cloud chaser). At the highest temps I get the full spectrum and the taste is still great. I never liked the Solo with a bubbler...too restrictive. I didn't like this one with my tubing either, but I want to try the GonG first...I'll bet it hits better than my whip. In the end, I like this one better. It's easier to use, has more features, has better taste without the breakage issues and, believe it or not, is heavier and feels more solid (and the Solo feels solid!). The Solo started at the same price point but can now be had legitimately for $160.

Still no oil reviews, that is disappointing but I guess it must not be a highlight of the product if they didn't line up people to "review" that aspect.

Actually, I was supposed to get some of their oils to try but they are in a separate shipment. I'll let you know how it goes with their blends) I know this is not ideally what you are looking for). But I think they are focused on oils and probably have this thing working with them. I mean, if they are selling their own blends, I don't think it sucks with it.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
Heavier then the solo as I expected is very heavy. Nice comparison sticks. Great that you can go up in temp without the harsh and lousy taste one of the reasons I vape low.

Any comments on vapelifes will video about the two glass pieces should have a better seal?

380 on the ascent might not be the same temp as 380 on the solo or whatever other vape you want to think about. Does that make sense lol or the other way around how ever you want to look at it

Okay... couldn't walk away from the keyboard if there was a new video that is in wont of viewing.

The wood looks really nice. Honestly, I was immediately turned off when the new burl first showed up. But it looks great in the video.

How does he know the temperature is not accurate? How has he measured it? As has been discussed previously, that's not an easy thing to do. Yet he offers no insight as to how his "data" was collected, other than "my opinion is that temp isn't accurate in devices, this is a device, therefor this isn't accurate."

The whole "silicon taste" thing is mildly concerning, especially as none of our people mentioned that. I wonder if it wasn't a projection based on expectation, as is suggested by some of his comments.

Is it me, or does the device "whistle" while he uses it?

I get the point about the air gap between the two glass stems, by you don't use the stems by holding them in your hand. You use them inside of a closed airpath INSIDE the device. He'd have to demonstrated that there was a point of air-ingress that was not the bowl for that to be a concern. He did not do that.

I do see a light-gap between the bowl and the base, but that doesn't speak to the coupling around the airpath.

And I get that he, like some people, are cloud-chasers. But that's not everyone's need set.

EIDT:
I dunno... to me this is a fairly superficial review. I'm more keen on what our people have to say, as I feel they put more thought in it, and don't bring as many pre-conceptions masked as analysis to the table.

Yeah if he waits between hits prob have better vapor and the mouthpiece slides into the top tightly so the glass pieces having play shouldn't matter right?

i think that the very unrestricted airflow allows a lot less dense vapor through. like on the solo and pax, u get bigger clouds becuse theres less air flow and the vapor is more condensed. if thats the case u wouldnt see as much vapor coming out the acent but you would still be getting the same amount per hit.

Reading all the posts here, it seems that the temp reading on the Ascent is low. From what my Abv looks like and tasted like when it came out of my PD and LSV as well as what it looked like and tasted like when I had my Ion, which reportedly was accurate within a few degrees, and being that most here are saying that to get any decent clouds, they have to north of 410 degrees, it seems that the Ascent could be running as much as 20 degrees cooler than what the temp display shows. I found that anything north of about 380 degrees and things started tasting a bit nasty. Sticks, would you agree with this assessment?

I guess what could also affect this is a high air to vapor ratio as what was said in that video, eh?

Okay... couldn't walk away from the keyboard if there was a new video that is in wont of viewing.

Temp does seem a little low in the 375 ish range, I am not typically a high temp guy... but like Sticks mentioned above, it tastes much better than I'm used to due to the all glass... so I actually prefer setting it a little bit higher. Like you said, not everyone is into the cloud-chasing... and it works just fine at medicating in the lower temp range. Definitely not the visible vapor you'll see when it's set above 400, but it does the job.

Silicon taste is something that you'll notice 100% in your first 2ish sessions. I just picked up my Ascent to see if I still noticed it on a dry pull... and it's no longer an issue. I've used it quite a bit and it wore off quickly. If anyone has the original DaVinci, it's a similar taste in the beginning; but much more mild.

I don't get a whistle; I think it's because he's pulling pretty rapidly. I like to take very slow pulls in order to regulate the temperature a little bit.

When you've got a **Buy an Arizer Solo From My Online Store** scrolling in your Ascent video, it throws people off in terms of motive lol. Also, I know Will... I've got his number and we talk on occasion... he's a good dude and might have just had a sub-par experience. My first session wasn't my favorite... but after about 8 more... I'm loving it.

As, I was suggesting Firday night, and our reviewers have been experimenting on all weekend, there are, just like any other vape, optimal usage.

The concern about the airpath doesn't mean squat if it isn't in the actual usage environment. Has nothing to with play if there is no addition ingress point other than the base of the bowl. And he provided NO evidence there was. (There might be. There might not be.) He just made baseless assertions.

All-iin-all, just about everything I've seen for non-FC people has been a waste of time... Just what can one get up quickly enough to get YouTube views....

I too am a Solo lover which is why i dont know if i will enjoy this vape. For me its either this or the Pinnacle because i desperately need something for on the go. I can accept the bigger bowl because this is a TRUE portable. The thing i might not like is the fact that from what i have read it seems their is more conduction than convection which turns me off. Sticks since your a cloud chaser ( as am i ) maybe take slims advice and try packing tight. I like your cotton method but it just seems like a hassle.

Please one of the reviewers pack like half a bowl tight and use it around low temps 380ish. Tell us how it goes.

Guess that could also be to the air added to the vapor due to the "not so tight mating" of the glass stems, eh?

Yeah, 380 "should" produce very thick tasty clouds, or at least, that has been my experience.

might not even be because of that. the way the screen snaps in there, it doesnt look like much could get in. could just be a lot of airflow through the bowl. and did you guys run the vape on high for a few minutes maybe that would take care of the rubber taste.

The highest i have ever went on my Solo was 4 and those clouds are perfect. This is my favorite level and its supposedly 383. If i can achieve the same kind of clouds at 385 on the ascent as i do on the solo i will be more than thrilled. I also want to know if i can space out my hits or if the herb will get used quickly like the PAX.

I have done 375F on a medium pack and it works fine for me. When I packed it down it was about half full... maybe a little more. Provided the type of effect I expected. Tasted good.

I don't think VapeLifeWill gave the product enough testing to figure out the most efficient way to use the device before doing the review.

I don't think he packs his right. I don't need t stir mine at all really.

He also breaths too quickly.

Mine does not have any rubber taste/essence.

There is a bit of a silicone deal between the glass stems on the upper and lower portion of the device. This helps reduce the excess airflow. His example of using the stems outside of the device was not very accurate in representing how tight/loose the airflow is.

His little thing that says pick up a competitors at my store is not very classy :( A pretty bad review in my book. Perfect example of jumping the gun before you have a chance to understand what you have in front of you. Personally I like to use the product a little longer before I do a review.

Sorry :myday:

SM, can it produce tasty, thick clouds at 375, like apparently the Solo can?(I've never used a Solo, so I have no idea).

Also, does the Ascent continually cook your bud like a Pax does?
