Too cool - Review and some pics/vid will be coming soon Rick was nice enough to select me as one of his betas for these badboys. (Now Im super excited)
As you said, this is possible because of brass!Rick said:Now many will ask "but the stem tip slides easily in and out of the heatport tube so how do you keep the stem tip in the glass stem insert without it falling out?" Very simple and made possible because we use brass. We squeeze the back of the stem tip ever so slightly across the radius to put it sightly out of round. It will still insert in the stem insert because brass is flexible but the tip will be tight. The more out of round you make the back of the tip, the harder it is to insert and remove so there will be a little finesse required on the part of the user to get the perfect interference fit.
I have a dark one....not from the 40 year stuff (that I know of) it looks like this....not my zap, but a web find.the ob said:I am about to order my second zap. I have asked rick for the 30-40 year super dark myrtle. does anyone have a pick of a really dark zap to show me. It will still probably not be as dark as the one I am going to get, but I will give me an idea. rick said the wood he is getting is going to be almost black.
thanks in advance.
Look back at pages 58 and 59 of this thread. These are some good examples of Ricks turnings that he snapped when he did some a while back.the ob said:I am about to order my second zap. I'd like to order a black MZ if they are not all spoken for......the ob said:college,
rick will have to confirm. I cannot tell. I do know he told me the wood he was talking about was almost black. I will know better when he gets it which sounds like it might be a couple of weeks out.....
screw, I see it all the time as it is native to oregon and northern california and I am in oregon. you cannot go into a store on the oregon coast and not see a TON of it. I feel like it is a thing tourists buy because it is so unusual and not all over the country. I love it for its great trippy detailing.
