Alright, I feel that I have used this vv ps sufficiently to provide a mini review.
First, it seems to be a pretty stout little unit as I, with some helps from my kids, have knocked it to the floor twice, the last one a good 3' fall, and it is still functioning normally. I have volt tested this thing several times now, and it is consistently running .5 volts higher than the digital readout (exact opposite of what Rick has found with the ones he has been testing, so YMMV). But every time, that's what I get, so I just add .5 volts to my digital readout for an accurate read.
I have not tested at various voltage yet to find my "sweet spot," but I can attest that it does make a difference. So far, I set my unit at 14 volts (14.5), and I notice denser hits, especially the first one, and more hits per stem. On average, I am getting 2-3 strong clouds, a couple weaker clouds, and then one or two whispy clouds per stem. Last night, using my bubbler, the first hit off each stem almost wrecked me. The cloud just kept going and going...I almost felt like I had Vito lungs.
Another thing I have noticed is that my abv is darker, a darker brown rather than the more blondish brown I was getting before, with the stock 12 volt transformer. The color is still very uniform, though. I have also found that my abv dislodges from the stem MUCH more smoothly. Whereas before I was having to blow fairly rigorously, I barely have to tap a spent stem for the abv to come out. If it requires more than that, a very light puff does it, and the screen is pristine rather than the formally spotted.
That's all for now. I will be looking for the "sweet spot" soon but wanted to report my initial reactions at least.
