Looks like some scheduled website work will wait for an hour or so. I want to crawl in here with the Zap family for a bit.
Megan, welcome to Zapville. It is especially nice to hear from someone new that took plenty of time to get to know her Zap. Sometimes that is necessary for real bonding. As I have mentioned on this thread before, we almost gave up on our first Eterra. But, with a little perseverance, the correct flow happened. Then Aromazap started after much trial and error including building 150 Aromazaps for Seattle Hemfest in 2001. We did not sell one unit. Very few people had any clue about Vapor. No regrets though as it had to happen the way it did.
Your need of a Coozie is most likely because you have a big old chunk of wood there. I would be more than happy to take her down a bit and shine her up for you. In the beginning we made them all sizes. Now we make them all very close in size and with a nice 'inny' shape. We think the heat production is much more consistent with our size and shape staying consistent. They are also very nice to hold. Another advantage with our current shape is better sanding. I hand sand them all now, with the grain, finishing off with 400 grit. That is one reason they shine so good. After sanding they get a friction heat cured finish before the buffing process.
Thanks again for the nice post.
NYC, good to see you back around a bit. I was missing your posts. Thanks for the Email too. I was going to send you one and will later this AM. That small crack below the plug on your BL is nada. It should not go anywhere, especially after this much time. Sometimes I will get a small crack below the plug hole when I am not real careful about getting the plug in. Normally it will stay right there because the plug hole stops the crack from progressing. I did have a sweet Myrtle with a small one like that but went the length of the Zap in short order but that was very unusual.
Vito is very patient and is never the cause of anything being out of stock. I know it was a little joking about the issue but he is never pushy. I told him yesterday, once I can keep the bubblers in stock, I will send him a few when I get extra. Vito was also very patient in the beginning over CRZs. He waited and waited for his first batch.
As for volts and heat, I am finding 13.5 to 14.2 or so Is what I like. The stock fixed voltage transformers do 13.5 to 13.8 under a load with the "big" grid doing 122+ volts. That is why they work so well for so many people. The VV will be fine tuning with the ability to give the Zap more horsepower if wanted. I personally do not like the higher range for two reasons. First, taste diminishes and second, the famed "stem tip contents" are gone quicker. It is really neat to get so many pulls from our small tip. Higher heat takes away from the number of pulls IMO.
OK, enough for now. Back to photos and website work.
