I'm about to (finally!) receive my grasshopper. But I don't want to get rid of my solo because of the reliability of the said new device. It's kinda sad to trust more in my solo from 2012 than a device from 2016
Even with the big boy vapes I come back to the Solo!! Why get rid of something so reliable? Keep the backup ready!

Yeah, what the Q man just said! I doubt any new vape is much more reliable than a modern Solo. Even the ones with no electricity? I don't think GH is there yet? Some might be in the 'this one's doing great....so far' club but I'm not sure about 'they all work great out of the box and don't seem to die'?

And besides, it's not really 'from 2016'. Or even 2015. Hasn't it been just around the corner for a couple of years now?

I too would recommend you keep the Solo handy. I bet one way and another it'll see some serious use yet. Enjoy your GH.

I have both. My GH is great for places and times where the Solo won't do (due to size/form factor, heating time, and ease of loading), but for all else, the Solo is my preference!

I actually think they pair very well together, if they're the only two you own.

So its now been 5 years(!) since I got my solo and I have used it countless of times. Almost daily since then. Im happy to report its still functioning great, with batterylife almost as good as new. I still get 6x12min on max heat, so thats pretty amazing! I ordered right after the chipping issues occured with the original ceramic ones, so I got the first SS bowl model. I dont think u will find a more reliable unit. It has outlived several phones & computers and doesnt seem to ever want to retire. I actually think it may outlive me at one point way down the road! :D

Best purchase I have ever done!

dropped down my solo + the pinnacle style water adapter from 1 metre on concrete and nothing broke, even though the 14.4mm adapter was very hard to disassemble from the bubbler.

Now my solo starts making a hassle when charging, the cable only works in 10% of the time, am off to the shop to check if a new cable might fix it.

wish me luck, I was just about to save for the battery update.

Last night I was using the Solo + D020-D with some friends outside. We all noticed and commented on the fact that it seemed like the setup was producing much less vapor than it normally does. While not foggy, the ambient air was quite humid.

Has anyone experienced issues when vaping in high humidity? I'm not even sure if that was the cause, but it seemed the most likely. I don't think it was due to the material used, but I'll see today.

I've never experienced a drop in vape efficiency due to humidity and its pretty humid around here. I find the Solo and the bubbler combo work best at the highest heat while allowing a minute or two between hits to heat soak the herb for each person's draw.

Humidity definitely has an effect on visible vapour...

Go vape in a steamy, humid, shower room...

Then go vape outside on crisp, dry air day...

Humidity matters... if your care about seeing your vapour, if not then I suppose it doesn't......

I think this depends on what you define vapor as (how's that for sounding like Bill Clinton?). Yes, vapor, but WATER vapor is what's changing? You're looking at your own private fog bank for practical purposes......

As air cools it's ability to 'hold water' drops. This is why the vapor from the day before condenses into fog overnight as the air temperature drops. The existing air temperature and how much water is already absorbed into it also play a big part. FWIW "Relative Humidity" like you see in the weather reports is the percentage of water actually in the air compared to how much it will hold total at that temperature. When it reaches 100% you're in rain or fog.

None of this will change the part of the vapor we really care about, the Cannabinoids. It might be a useful indicator to where the THC is to see the change in apparent vapor, but it's medicinal effect is still there same as always as I see it.

Swapped new hi-cap battery with old one. Easy operation! Blue Idle light on and green Charge light blinking but no yellow LEDs yet, which indicates the new battery was all but drained. I'l be relieved when I see some yellow LEDs indicating it's holding a charge. Happy 4th!

UPDATE: 1 yellow LED!

Idk how people dry vape from units like this, the taste and effects are amazing but my throat :( any good prices good working gong pieces in America? I know planet vape has them but I wanna avoid Canadian post right now.

Planet Vape makes great GonGs! But as someone who was know for vaping through water, I must confess I haven't bonged in 2-3 years. The reason is, water dilutes vapor and requires more herb to obtain the same high. In addition, bongs were invented to curb the harshness of smoking. But vaping is far less harsh. Although I have a first rate bong collection I came to the conclusion that bonging with a vape is overkill.

I know all about the science of vaping through water. I have asthma making dry vapor almost impossible for me to handle sometimes, my lungs will just seize up and I cough a lot, where with water I can get a huge hit in before my lungs notice lol. I use warm water so the least amount of active compounds come out, and honestly I've been able to dry vape more with my Milaana because I can control it so well and you can't really tell the difference than when your using through water, expect for the smooth ness of the hits.. Thank you for the info but I wouldn't even vape if I couldn't do it through water lol. That's why the EVO is my DD. I am trying to avoid the Canadian post strike right now or I woulda gotten one of the shorty turbo 14mm through planetvape. If anyone knows an American seller please let me know.

Predicament!!!!

0.5g of flower

5g of shatter (concentrates)

2 clean q-tips

This is all I have..... can I somehow use this intelligently and get the most out of all of it in the solo which is definitely not meant for concentrates use???
Thank you!

Hemp fiber and solo on max is your friend. You will get tons of hits because solo on max is a pretty low temp dab I would think. The herb will only go so far, concentrate sandwiches with that forsure.

I thought the same before I got my first bubbler....Definitely the science would say that you`re losing vapor by filtering it through water BUT amazingly enough, I don`t feel that I need any more herb or hits per session to get the same effect as going it dry...
I always use a bubbler (or occasionally a whip)...so in spite of the science, in practical use going wet works really well for me!...

I'm not sure I agree with that, the 'losing vapor' part. Yes, you lose some of the taste and other relatively unimportant part of the vapor but the important parts, THC and such, don't dissolve in water. There might be some still in the wax and other 'heavy stuff', but basically no THC in the water since it won't dissolve like it does in say alcohols.

In fact, to analyze 'smoke' and vapor for their contents the vapor is typically bubbled through methyl alcohol and the alcohol analyzed.

You don't get off drinking the water (not that I've ever tried....), right? If you could, for sure there are guys that would.

Well in high school the term 'bong water drinker' was not one you would want to be known by, so I`ll leave that part of the science a mystery!...:p

I`m thinking that the volatile oils (THC ect) could condense in the cooler water even though they will not mix, but ultimately I have to default (as we all do) to my own experience which is: just enough cold water to cover the comb in my bubblers, kept in the fridge when not being used...
This seems to produce nice clouds of visible vapor that is just as potent (to me) as hitting it dry...

Just charging my newest Solo for the first time. It was lit up to 4 as soon as I put it on the charger (about an hour ago) and now the green lite is solid. Is this new battery ready to use or should it be charged for much longer since it`s a first charge?

@OF I bow down to your superior knowledge of course, but I have always fought my side of this argument...

I am certain vaping through water does lower the amount of psychoactive compounds within the final, inhaled vapour....

Surely that vape snot is proof of this????

Although the oils wont dissolve in water, I do believe they will condense, and clump together, becoming too heavy to be suspended in air...

Meaning they stay in the bubbler as vape snot and you lose out....

Obviously I'm aware that a whip has a surface that actives will condense on too, iv worked out that the surface area is less in the whip....

I have tried to put this argument across before, but no body seems to agree with me....

I have a consistent tolerance, and have been vaping the same strain for a year...

There are not many variable in my high, so I'm not bad at comparing, and from exactly the same load, under the ae conditions, I definitely get higher without water...

Yes, overcharge for the first time only. 5 hours is recommended, overnight even better.

I find going through water there is no loss in effects. Actually i avoid water tools as it gets too much for me. That would be because i can take huge hits in one go.
