Arizer Solo

@CarolKing, or anyone in the know, if my solo is showing 3 or 4 levels of power left and I put it on the charger and bring it up to a flashing 7 am I harming battery life by doing the charge early?

Probably not, at least not enough to worry about. It's a matter of getting more cycles (recharges) from the battery but less sessions (vaping) per cycle. In the end you get about as many sessions total from the battery before it dies, you just recharge more often for shorter times.

Nothing like charging 'too high', and there's a lot of 'safety margin' at the bottom to protect the battery from damage. I generally run mine down to a light or two and think about charging (the one I put on charge this morning started it's last session on 'one light')......but it's not worth worrying about?

I got a set of 2 adapters from sss today, both have bigger holes than the stock stems but one does have noticeable more resistance than the other. Also while they do work with the solo, they will fall out if you don't hold them in, and that's with an o ring installed. Even with these issues, at roughly $6 each they are worth it

The more I use the PVHES GonG, the more i love it. It does get warm so if I can get one that's a little bit longer, maybe even bent, I think that would be the perfect stem for me?

Funny how just using a different stem gives me a completely different experience.

What's so nice about some vaporizers you can tailor them to fit your needs. While other vaporizers you are stuck with what you have.
I have bought several different stems to fit my needs. There are so many different ways to modify the Solo if you choose to do so.

I also like the Vortex stem with the added one inch longer than the stock ones. You can use a higher temp without feeling too hot. It has a vortex compartment up above the oven. It has the channeled airflow along the sides.

Here's a pic of two I bought. You can see the vortex pocket. They are both the same size even though it looks like one is shorter. It's an optical illusion.

So they would be a good fit for the air.

Yes, I use the mouthpieces for the Solo with my Air. I'm able to hit the higher temps with the AA using the vortex stem. I normally can only use my 2 lower heat temp with the Air. Using the vortex I can go up a heat level. It's not very stealth with the longer stem.

They're so small that an o-ring won't stay on the outside, but they work, it's just a bit of a juggling act. They don't work as good as the ones with the notches and grooves and they're loose but if you have it out somewhere with your Pinnacle water tool and it gets snapped it's cheap (and I'll have a spare), better than breaking the expensive one imo. If I'm using a bubbler I'm going to use my 18mm gong anyway unless I've broken it or just want to play because that works better than a 14mm so I really only got 14mm gongs for the Pinnacle. I like it enough I use it at home sometimes, and so justify spending $30 Cdn on a gong. Don't knock these SSS gongs too much until we see how they perform with whips, etc, there could be some hidden talent here.

Does anyone know if there is a U.S.A. distributor of the Easy Flow Bubbler Mouthpiece? I know I can order it overseas dealers, but I fear the shipping cost wouldn't be much less than the cost of the item itself. I've been Googling but have come up empty so far, much appreciate any help -- thanks...

It has come this far that I know it's ataxian, when I see that pool.

Solo is a beast.

I bought mine in early 2012 and been using it almost daily until start of 2015 when I got a mighty. That thing went kayaking earlier this year and now I am back to my old solo. And I am wondering, how good is the modern solo that can be used while being charged and has improved airflow? I can get a new mighty for 250€ so I won't buy a new solo for 200€ here, but it makes me wonder what I am missing in between.

You should have known Ataxian was behind it when you saw the broken glass......

Some like the increased airflow, I'm not amongst them. My new model is a loaner. I'm a sipper by nature, hitting it hard gives more volume but thinner vapor (no magic....). I'd just be sipping on it anyway. And IMO 'use while charging' should be avoided. Use it or charge it, but not at the same time. Since the charger can't supply all the needed power you charge then discharge the battery again every 20 seconds or so (when the heater cycles), that can be very hard on the battery, quickly fatal on a heavily discharged one (where folks are most likely to use it? Run it flat then plug it in to keep going?) This (hammering a discharged battery by 'use while charging') was killing the ESV batteries off right and left, the upgraded software no longer allows this function there for that reason. Good lesson there I think.

'Use while charging' also leads to leaving it plugged in charging which leads to storage at full charge, again very hard on batteries and IMO to be avoided. Run it down (on battery if you can't do PA on the older model) 'to the bottom' then charge it up until the top LED lit (step 7) but the charge LED is still flashing. Doing this will basically double your battery life. OTOH, charge it fully, put it in a warm place and never use it and I'll die just waiting. This is why you always get such batteries about 60 or 70% charged, the makers know the facts too. Just leaving it at 100% will kill it over time.

Hey guys,

Recently I was given an Arizer Solo for my birthday, so I lurked this forum to find the best method of vaping. I liked the bubblers you guys have been posting so as a true Aussie I went ahead and just made one myself.

Wag7wTP.jpg

Materials needed:
  • EZ Flow 70mm stem with a screen
  • A small plastic bottle (I used a Queen Food Colouring bottle)
  • Lighter

Method:
  • I started off with a bottle that looked like this, emptied the contents and removed the label.
  • I used the lighter to heat up the neck of the bottle until I could stretch and bend it backwards.
  • Then I used the lighter on the very top of the bottle to flare it out for a mouthpiece.
  • Finally, I used the lighter to melt a hole in the bottle for the stem to go into.

Original bottle

Result:

I can use the bubbler like a small bong, packing a bowl and then just sliding the Solo on/off (my solo has no O-ring), the glass stem never leaves the bottle while in use.

It fits perfectly in one hand and makes a nice loud bubbling noise which gives me that all too familiar bong ripping satisfaction.

An added bonus is that the 70mm stem fits in the neck of the bottle for storage!

Which fits nicely into my DIY storage case

Hopefully this inspires some other people to try make a DIY bubbler.

If anyone would like a video on the bubbler in use, or a video on how to do this yourself seeing as moulding a bottle with a lighter can be tricky, let me know.

Haha that's awesome. I'm an Aussie as well and although I have had my fair share of making orchies and can cones, I'm not quite sure I could make a decent one of these.

What's the verdict on use? Is it much smoother? Will you mostly use it like in the pics with a bubbler or do you still just use the solo as it a fair bit?

I think I saw it on the PV website.

Yeah it's much smoother, and has a great satisfying noise.
If I'm out and about I'll use the solo as is just with the stem, but if I'm sitting down at home or in the bush I'll set the bubbler up and toke away.

It's especially useful when it comes to vaporising changa/DMT. Cools it down a lot!

Any suggestions for use?

So far a coarse grind not too full on temp 5 seems to work well..

Pvhes shorty on the way..

I only seem to get 4 quality hits this way tho..

Just wanna hear some best practices..thanks love this place!
