hmmm. I thought they were the same thing?

I have a similar glassware as the D20 from VapeFiend 'Bomb Tower Bubbler'

bomb-tower-bubbler.jpg

Am I wrong to call it a bong? It's my catch all phrase for meaning 'smoking through water' or as it is now 'vaping'.
The water pipe you posted is a gb186
I have a FC186

The D020 has a smaller can.
I use a D020 with a SOLO.

So yes looks very similar.

Is there a reason you specifically use the DO20 with the Solo? have you used the FC186?

I use the gb186 with my Ascent & U-Tool also, I can't decide if there is a difference with the Solo, both work great and other than having to clean it, I'm very pleased with both the bubbler and the GonG Solo adaptor.

I've been trying to resist VAS, and assumed any ole bong will do, I don't won't to end up with GAS *Glassware Acquisition Syndrome, but if there is a reason to use one thing over another specifically to make the Solo even better, I'm all ears :D

Hey guys I need help

I broke the bowl part of my stem, while cleaning it. The part with the 4 holes meaning now I have an empty tube with no limit as to how much weed I can put (a fresh tube can fit .2 or .3). Is there any solution to this problem. Maybe use a screen? Or I pull very light? Need help thanks.

fire polish it if you can

shape a screen so that it looks like the one on the far right (they're both the same shape but flipped over) and use it like that... some people pay good money for turbo stems (without the glass screen part) you know...

Ok I never heard of fire polish but in that picture it looks like they used more than 1 screen to make it. How many do I need to make the one on the right? And I had no idea ppl pay money for no glass screen. Whats the point of that? Wont all the weed go into their mouth?

This is how my stem looks like

Nicely done. Better than most who have done it on purpose.
A 1/2" screen and you're laughing. Dome it to cut down bowl size if you like.
Some nice pre-doomed ones available from an ebay seller. (posted not far back)
You should roll up some sand paper and spin it inside the hole to smoothen the edges. Also ensuring there is no small chips ready to break off. Torching the edge is best but considering the placement it may be a little trickier.
Good Luck.

Ok so all I gotta do is buy a 1/2 screen and fit it in to my stem? Im a noob at this lol. How much weed can I put if I do that? Thanks.

Edit: I saw some pre domed screens on the arizer site. I might just get that.

Yes, sit the screen on top of the broken section for support. Planet Vape sells this as an option called "The Turbo". Large single bore with screen.

Edit: With a clean stem, the screen might want to fall out when changing your load. This will stop once some resin builds up. Fit as best/tight as you can. 1/2" for flat and larger if doming.

You only need to make one screen like that, and then you can sit it flat side down and it will sit on the ledge of glass.

If you do try to make your own domed screen, remember that the way it stays in place is friction with the sides of the stem. You will make a basket shape, and the basket should therefore be as deep as possible.

Nothing to apologies for, anything you experts can teach me, the better.
Your location confused me?
In your country there is this push to legalize cannabis.
My worry is.that it instead of being called England you be called something else?
Cannabis won't stand a chance to be legal!
I used a SOLO for sometime now and love it.
It's so simple!
Pipe Daddy has a famous bubbler some vaporist like.
Some like the D020 has I have.
I use a plug-in with the 186 or something equal in size!

I use mathematical logic to size my vaping /water requirements.

Maybe that is why I like a D020 for the SOLO.

Cheers!

I ended up ordering the D020 the other day, already has been marked shipped! So then I went ahead and made an order with PV. Got a couple PVHEGonG's and PVHES Vortex Bents and a couple other things. I was surprised to see that it ended up being less than I thought with the CAD-USD conversion!

Am I correct to think that I will not need an adapter for the GonG->D020?

Dome a 1/2 inch screen over a sharpie ,flatten the dome ,trim corners if needed then slide in stem to the ridge where the glass one was.

Well, after dropping and breaking my second regular stem (I still have my PVHE bent stem backup though), I've decided that I'm fed up with these glass stems. They're far too easy to lose track of when vaping in a dark room and then break. I've just ordered a Blackwood stem from @Ed's TnT, and am looking forward to trying it out!

Related questions:

1) How does the airflow of the wood stems compare to a PVHE stem?

2) Does the metal bowl require any more cleaning than the ones on the glass stems?

3) Does anyone know if I'll receive a tracking number from Ed or will I just have to keep an eye on the mailbox?

My man, what a wise choice, ditch the glass get some class bro! See you got the Blackwood, my favorite of all the woods I work, super sleek and really dense, I feel you will be happy with the airflow, it's wide open and unrestricted, pack and load will factor in on that also, you will wanna bump up a heat setting above normal, long slow steady draws are best, load the stem insert it turn on set the temp let it reach the temp then draw steady slow and long, I can blow hella clouds like this, yes sir you will receive tracking via email, got just the piece for you bro! Thanks for the biz and I hope you will let me know how you like it. Thing with the glass is like any of these new cars, they know you are going to break it and you gotta get more if you wanna continue to use it so its win win for them. Thanks again!

They draw just fine, but being metal sink more heat so be ready to bump the heat up a notch or two. Also watch out the metal gets hot and is exposed.

I think it's less time between cleanings for me, but the cleanings are tougher since I can't bung it into a jar of PBW for a while and rinse off.

You'll like Ed's stems, they are special indeed.

Thanks for the comments, @Ed's TnT and @OF. If I normally use 5, would 6 be a replacement level or would I need to go to 7?

EDIT: How does the bowl volume compare to a glass stem? If I use a domed screen to cut the volume in half on the regular stems, would I want to do the same on the wood one?

I'd try 5 first, just for a reference, but I bet you end up at six. Seven is pretty harsh, IMO, best done with water even with Ed's stems. I normally run four, but 5 with the wood one, as a default.

IIRC it's bigger by a bit (maybe 20%?) I don't have it handy to check.

How has England confused you? I'm in England, it's a country in the British Isles, there isn't a country called U.K. , but that's a discussion for another thread perhaps!

I use mathematical logic to size my vaping /water requirements.

Maybe that is why I like a D020 for the SOLO.

Do you have details of the equation, and logic behind its use?

Brand new M1H Solo in the house! Came charged at level 4, so I implemented @OF's recommendations and overcharged for a few hours and then did a 2 session burn off, and it was ready to go! On deck a regular non-pvhes GonG, and a nice efficient small bowl. This is by far my favourite way of vaping, water-bonging, with a nice glass gong (I use a screen but not required obviously). I love having a small cordless vape that I can easily just invert and place on the gong. It just looks soooo clean and classy!

The airflow is perfect for me! The gong is amazing in that it doesn't fit as snug as my 3 glass stems so I can easily plop the Solo on or remove, or even hover halfway for a bit more convection. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the vapour density in the can! I honestly had a flashback to my bong smoking days! Thickest i've ever seen before, except for maybe the Nano, which was nearly the same, but without the ease of use as the Solo.

I received an extra glass stem (straight) from Agracan so i'm pretty happy with my $159cdn free shipping deal). The extra stem has much smaller 4 holes than the included straight and bent stems (pretty huge 4 holes), and 2 silicone stem caps are now standard I think....oh as well as that stir pin from the Air, it was inside as well.

The Solo is my new daily driver....I've had a bunch of these over the years, but this M1H is special (serial number ends in my and wife's b-day lol).... the better airflow is amazing (have they improved it even MORE recently?) and with the PV regular gong I am in absolute love. I just bought a brand new stock EQ, but i'm done with it forever now because of the Solo. I've been through this before, where the EQ was my DD, but then the Solo came out, with PA and it completely replaced my EQ, but I always struggled with the airflow..... not anymore! The new Solo seems so much more refined..... the matte black front face plate is a nice touch, and the electronics seem quicker/more responsive.

The Solo also seems to be much easier on my airways than strictly convection vapes..... all the convection vapes i've owned in the past (Herbalizer, VHW, EQ, Cloud, EVO, SSV/LSV) all seem to tear my lungs apart with the amount of hot air that is required to be inhaled to get the clouds that you want. And still, can't milk the water tool but always end up coughing and irritating. Even though i've only had a couple of sessions with the new setup, I could instantly tell that I wasn't being irritated.

The new lineup plans are pretty simple.... potentially a 2nd Solo, and more than likely another Air to boot. The EQ goes bye bye, and the Herbalaire pops up on the radar as a possible future "super giant plug in Solo"?

Now i'm starting to wonder if I should ask PV to see if they will bore out the glass screen in a regular gong so I can start using adjustable screens? I used to use an epicvape gong with adjustable basket screen, but they were way too tight of a fit and the newer ones stopped fitting altogether. It's nice for micro loads with that screen set high, but i'm sure the results are similar with the glass screen as well, perhaps just one notch higher on heat.

SO glad to be part of the Solo cult following once again! I'm starting to realize, after years on FC, why some threads are complete ghost towns while others like this one are thriving!

...then may i suggest to you sir the ENano.... it's not "super giant" in size, but it delivers "super giant" hits and is basically A PLUG IN SOLO ... IMO you only need those two vapes

In a fun sort of way, that's just what the 'old model' Solo already did. Or I should say 'does' since many of us still do this with ours. Basically the same unit we now enjoy but with the added option of plugging in a heavy duty power supply instead of the more modest charger and bypassing the battery for power, now removed.

But folks said they'd rather have 'use while charging', and Arizer is a company that listens to it's customers it seems.......

Nice to know we can still get the corded function though, even if that means a second vape. Which could be your backup vape? While I like the idea of a different sort of vape for a backup, everyone should have a solid backup 'in case'.
