When my solo runs out of warranty I really want to make a battery pack with some of the 30A Sonys, bet it will hit like a AC adapter!
That will be a problem right now, I can't find them available with solder tabs welded on, can you? It's not safe to solder to them otherwise, so you'd need an appropriate spot welder.
I get it that guys like buzz words, and everyone understands 'bigger numbers are better' (even if they aren't in a given case.....) but the fact is there's just no need for 30 Amp capability in a 'game' where the maximum current demand is two Amps. 2, way less than thirty, is what's needed. Like putting a huge engine in your car, or 4WD, you never use to the potential it can be a waste of money.
More over, compromises are made to get that that take away from stuff we do want more (like capacity). These guys might have a slight advantage in units like Cera and Persei but IMO the advantage over the current favorites will be so small as to defy objective rating by performance. It can be measured of course, but I expect a raft of opinions supporting a 'fact' that isn't?
Looked at another way, we all I think agree the designers of Solo aren't stupid or incompetent? They are sure to have researched the battery use well and can specify any battery they want (including the above Sony units now that they exist) since they specify the ones in the battery packs built for them (spot welded together inside already). IMO they made the same choice as the laptop guys (basically they too have the same conditions).
These new batteries are aimed at electric auto battery packs I understand where the extreme current has a use, but in "closed loop" (regulated so battery conditions don'tt effect performance like in Solo) vapes are not on the same list as I see it.
In reality there's no useful difference between a nearly dead battery and PA use, it makes temperature and shuts down heating or it doesn't. I just rattled on about this yesterday:

I would not expect any subjective advantage. In a 'blindfold test' I bet you couldn't find it on a bet? Any more than the poster I was answering in the link above did (his problem was too few sessions per charge, the temperatures are still right).
I have since painted it black.
That is without a doubt the worst Rolling Stones segue I've ever heard! Perhaps anyone has ever heard. You should be ashamed of yourself......even more than before......
