Arizer Solo

Heres an idea for people wanting to buy your disk for $25. Get a washer, drill some holes into it, nail some dents into it so it sits up. Boom...solo disk 2.0

I noticed on the vaporpedia page on the temperature chart between two models that the 104 runs at 230C at level 7, which is 446 degrees. This is hot enough to vape concentrates but wouldn't this make some ash of herb? IE combustion.

Not in my experience, level seven just gets some really dark brown ABV bud.

Great idea! Two screens work just as good. Im not trying to peddle my disk. Heck theyre hard to make.
I priced them to for those who value craftsmanship. I did not make this disk to try to sell them. I just wanted people to see how I fixed my problem.

Alright man, how about you try that and then reply back after your hospitalized for soft metal fume inhalation and we'll see how that worked out for you...

a disk of any kind of stainless steel can be had for pretty cheap. just look for places that carry raw materials. could probably make one of those disks for $5-10.

Il be honest the solo does not like high airflow one bit and will only deliver thin vapor when forced through quick. On the flipside though if you get a real nice 150ml-250ml bong and draw slowly you can get some hella thick rips which will impress you given the size of the bowl on the solo. As with all vapes though its the thc content that matters most and the seriously milky hits can be made from filling the bowl with pure thc shake. No joke will turn the tube white and leave a thick brown tint after a few seconds and ul be gagging from pure awesomeness. Having gone from box vape and MFLB the benefits of guaranteed non combustion are priceless. The box vape does still win out on toke speed though but then it needs a plug and has all the whip and box etc. The solo is just well one neat package that works anywhere but you have to draw slower but not as slow as the MFLB but without risk of combustion or annoying battery swapping on MFLB. lol

For all of you that are having problems getting monster hits with your Solo.
The problem is the stem. It sits on the holes on the bottom of the bowl. Lift your stems up. Use screens.

I think that is why the double screen in the bowl works, I have the herb separated
from the bottom of the heat chamber with a screen, so almost no particles are dropping down to burn, and it allows a hot air space to form under the screen. So far it's working great, and the flavor is much improved. I wouldn't mind being able to vape some oils or hash though, that metal disk would open up more territory for that. Nice work on the disk!

The problem is the stem it sits right on top of the air flow holes at the bottem of the solos bowl.

Heres a visual of how my disk works.

But best of all is now Im able to vaporize my harvested stem honey, honey oil, earwax, bubble hash concentrates.
Arizer Solo and my disk/screen

Honey oil is my main reason for making this disk. Noticed I have a dimple in the center of the disk, thats a holder for the honey oil. Protecting the solos bowl from getting all gummed up.

The heat chamber a just happened, but the result is thoroughly well vaporized herb front to back no more unvaped herb at the back of the stem.

You really seem to be pushing the sales pitch for that little piece of metal. As explained in the post you quoted I can already get big thick hits and that was on a cool running M105-SS with a slack tube hole. The only dispute is the draw speed which there is no way you can match a box vape its just not going to happen lol. Also I'm not trying to be rude but $25 each lol come on, thin metal that size costs nearly nothing and takes about a minute to punch. But hey if folks here have $ to burn....

Thank you. The subject I thought? Was draw speed and or hit size. I have never smoked out of a box vaporizer so I cant comment on how they hit. Looking at how there designed I have no doubt you are correct the solo will never compare. I do know that the stem in the solo I own sits on top of the internal draw holes. This issue can be corrected by placing two screens at the bottom of the bowl so the stem is lifted slightly of the holes! The rest was solely my way of documenting my solo evolution for the benefit of newbes.

Newbie here :D
Just finished reading the entire thread......
I love my Solo. Its my 1st vape, I am a lightweight. Combusted for 3 yrs or so a little (proto pipe), took a 7 yr break. Migraines returned with a vengeance so my family&friends got me a Solo.

Way back in mid thread someone asked for pictures of rigs/setup/storage etc... here is mine
http://www.box.com/s/teqmq26u2a7nj23gufmu

http://www.box.com/s/rljb33fx0i3sfh54vqbh

It all fits really nice in a irish tea tin I got long ago. The grinder came free with my Solo. The blue glass has fresh and the metal tin holds ABV. I made the pokey stick and the covers to protect the glass (Im a crafty mama :-)
I too love the stem cozy. Or should I call them Stem Kozzys. I know what my wifes next knitting project will be. :peace:

Vapor S. Thompson

I am Vapor
I just ordered a couple replacement glass stems from www.Vaporizers.ca.

One is strait and the other bent; both have the four holes and fit into my M-106 without much heating at all.

I also ordered this:
http://www.vaporizers.ca/product.php/product_id/680

The glass stems with the 4 holes are awesome but I would pass in the mask thing; can't really get a good vape going with it. I think I will cut the hose a little shorter and try again later. Any tips? I really want to vape in through my nose and not mouth. hmm, Maybe I will try the mask on my Extreme-Q with the fan on.

When my solo was over heating I opened it up. It looked lid to me that the stainless steel bowl is the heating element. The holes are just that holes. The bowl sits in a high temp composite shell. (Tan part)
So the only place I can see that the air comes in from is through the lift tabs on the side of the unit.
Has any one been able to look under the bowl?

Well the images that were earlier in the thread seem to have been removed but from what I saw of them and from what I saw when I inspected mine it would seem that the air can only be drawn from the gap between where the metal bowl and top o-ring meet and possibly the other side of the o-ring where it meets the mica casing surrounding it. Both those points have hair thickness gaps that allow almost pointless amounts of airflow. On both our units we have no extra o-ring groove to make a tight seal at top which again makes me question if perhaps there is another air source as people with the grooved o-ring would have an additional seal covering one of the air inlet holes for the lower bowl vents making drawing considerably harder. On your diagram you show the glass tube and the side of the bowl meeting and making a perfect seal, can you confirm that your bottom disc does not in fact make it easier for air from the sides to enter down and under?

See what I mean about airflow under and around bowl?

Yea I see what you mean air can enter under and around. And you are right in the illustration I did I put the stem up tight to the bowl wall. Which is not the case my stem is loose thats why I put an O ring under the cap.

My original post on page 191 explained;
next thing I found was that the draw on my unit was slow and labored. Looking at the unit there are small holes at the bottom of the bowl that draws the air in. I took a small round file and made the holes at the bottom of my unit a bit larger.
That helped a little. Then I put a screen in the bowl to keep the herb out, since I made the holes larger. That also helped then I noticed that if I wiggled the stem I could get more air but that lead to the next issue. I found I could not cook a full bowl. What I mean is at low temps the back part of the herb would be left green and looked un-vaporized. At higher temps 6 and 7 the front of the bowl was dark and looked and tasted burnt. Assuming that because I was drawing in colder air from wiggling the stem I inserted an O ring under the cap and above the bowl.
This created an air tight seal and it held my lose steam in place. Now the only air being drawn in was through the holes at the bottom of the bowl.

To answer your question. can you confirm that your bottom disc does not in fact make it easier for air from the sides to enter down and under?

No I cant tell you if in fact the disc makes it easier for air from the sides to enter down and under.
But it I dont think that matters. My disc sits flush with the stem, the only air entering the stem is coming from the circle of 10 holes in the center of the disc. The disc sits on the floor of the bowl. Any extra air is welcome the issue was draw size, as long as the air is heated to the temp necessary to vaporize the herb.
Extra air is what I was after! more air bigger hits :D

tomorrow the glass adapters are going to be available from planetvape. Im getting one and some screens! I am gonna be breaking int he Solo without screens so it will be interesting to see which i prefer.

norcal,
I have m104 ceramic solo for about 4 months and both of my glass stems are broke. They were both 2 hole stems. How are the 4 hole stems with the ceramic? I am leaning towards four hole since the 2 hole felt kinda restricted. But I am concerned the temp might lower faster because of increased airflow. Anyone have any thought or experiences? Also where can I get replacements. I'm in the US. I see they have some on planetvape.ca but 8 bucks shipping for a $10 product plus a 2 week wait is not ideal for me.
