Good tip for those on a tight budget for sure. I assume this means no warranty? From a practical POV at least.

I'm glad that I can afford to go with PIU, I'm sure that down the road Randy will have a replacement ready to mail to me should the need arise. For those on a more limited budget this is worthy of consideration, the savings will buy what, 4 or so grams of top shelf bud to feed it with?

Good tip, another of this Forums strong points. Members helping each other. I gotta pity guys making guesses on their own, getting lame advice from friends and guys trying to sell them stuff in shops or worst of all missing the boat altogether. Ladies and Gentlemen we're walkin' it tall cotton.

Both me and someone I know went through 3 or 4 solos each - as there was a period of a lot of faulty Solo- before we got one that didn't break. Very luckily the person I bought it from (via eBay) lived right near me and was able to sort it each time they broke. I've been on the same one for around 3 years now.

Basically, it's worth getting a warranty.

I'm funny like that, refuse to be herded. Sort of like voting for Hillary after all the voter fraud against Bernie; nope--not going to happen.

That plant was harvested a couple of weeks ago. Should be enough to last till fall harvest. Lost tract of what strain it is, but it is nice to have something fresh again.

Been using the Air short stem with the plastic mouthpiece for a gong with my Pinnacle Water Tool.

I added a Solo bent stem in a cork to make draws easier. By the way that is a broken Solo stem, I flamed the rough edges and used it. I don't throw much away. Works like a dream and I found the device will not siphon into the Solo if only enough water is used to cover the slits; it works like it should.

Hey guys, new to the forum. Was on the vapexhale one for a while. Nice to meet you all!

Can someone catch me up on the 1.5k posts on here? what are the tips, pros, cons that everyone has seen?

I used to use the bent straw, and then i decided to go with the straight straw. Used to have a screen, and stopped because without screen it tastes so god damn delicious. With a screen it tastes kinda bad at the end of the bowl.

My friend just lost my charger.. so just copped the one for 12.99 on ebay.

I used to use a GonG adapter to put it to my D020-D which my friend broke as well.. but i had to toss out my GonG adapter because my friend decided to COMBUST from the fucking GonG.. sigh.

Ordered a Mobius clone and hoping to use that with my cloud evo.


anyone have problems cleaning their solo straw? can never seem to get the curved parts of the glass.. so I just don't clean it lol. Not trying to inhale heated alcohol..

Alcohol is easily rinsed from glass when cleaning. For some stains use coarse salt along with your ISO then rinse with really hot water. Some folks use PBW a brewery wash for glass. You can buy it off of the Amazon store online.

Basically taking care of the battery by not allowing it to get too low. When charging the battery stop before the green lights stops flashing. This is to help the battery last a long time. It's the main issue. You also may experience some chipping of the bottom. My old Solo didn't do that. I bought a stand from @Pipes for mine.

will look into pbw.. quick iso and salt is usually how i go about it cause of cost and availability, plug both ends in and just take a go at it. I tried using a torch to vaporize the small stain on the curve.. snapped it right off LOL (never again)

what battery life do you guys have now? I think I get 4 sessions alone, 2-3 with a group.

I might be interested in replacing my battery, but at the same time it may be wiser to just not screw with my solo

Sometimes when im lazy i just trow my glass in the dishwasher, top job.
For a quick clean heat the stem and wedge some tissue paper in the bowl and twist.
This is great for a clean tasty bowl in a hurry.

My best vaping experience was with an old box whip style vape but instead of using the whip, I would load my herb into a downstem and hit directly from that as the mouthpiece, similar to the solo stem. It had the best tasting vapor and I would get huge clouds with no draw resistance. I want a portable vape that hits like that and the solo looks like it would work the same but I've seen alot of complaints about the draw resistance. Anyone out there own a solo and a flowermate v5, and a box whip vape to compare?

@Killa $moke Ninja, Most times when the Solo is dropped it usually survives the fall, without being any worse for wear. It is very sturdy and will last you many years. You can replace the battery after a few years. The batteries are easily changed by the owner. They cost around $50.

The newer style Solo doesn't have a restricted draw. As long as you keep the screen clean. The Solo does require a slow steady style type of draw. Wait 30 seconds or so between draws.
It has very nice vapor flavor.

One of my Solos just had its third birthday. The battery is still going strong. I still get almost a full hour of use before it needs charging. A new Solo's battery lasts for 2+ hours.

Draw resistance doesn't bother me so much with the Solo honestly, and this is coming from somebody that has jaw problems and doesn't even have all of his lungs anymore It's definitely there and a lot of people fight it thinking it'll work better like that, when I hand it to newbs all I really tell them is to draw on it and not fight the resistance but work with it. Most have been pretty quick to pick up at least the first part... You also might have noticed talk about tilting stems and loose fittings in the stems which is another aspect of it, since they don't fit 100% perfectly you can rock the stem certain ways and get more or less airflow. I don't own a box whip but do have an LSV which is pretty well known for having such a wide draw, it takes a second to adjust to the Solo but it is still heavy in rotation. If you're looking for portable kick-ass vaporizer with huge clouds and minimal draw restriction you might want to look at the Crafty or Mighty instead, they have markedly "better" airflow but come with their own host of problems (among which, I've noticed, is more of them dying than Solos or Airs). You'll probably get the newest version of the Solo which actually has bigger air holes than the older models, which should help some with the draw issues you read about. There's even special stems (Planet Vapes High Efficiency stems) with the rim notched and little airflow channels on the side to give you an even easier draw.

Now if you'll excuse me, this Lemon Sour Diesel has been reeking up the room since I pulled a nug out... need to go outside to enjoy this one...

I have an original Flowermate V5 and the draw is really hard compared to both my newer generation Solo`s.
And as @Quetzalcoatl was saying you can rock the Solo stems to adjust your airflow (CK taught me that one a while back)...
I`ve dropped them both on a carpeted wood floor from about 4 ft up. Both survived nicely but the V5 needed some reassembly (and I wouldn`t want to drop it again!)...

I have two grasshopper SS' and often use them congruently, really its all I've been using since I got em a month or so ago...but lately I feel it has been missing something....soooo I pulled my trusty solo out and loaded the traditional straight stem with a wax sammie and....yup that was it! I miss this taste machine!!

When you say that there were mixed reviews were you lumping "draw resistance" with faulty and/or broken units?

If you would consider a plug in vape the Arizer Extreme Q is available for roughly the price of a Solo with almost no draw resistance.

While that's good anecdotal evidence, and basically all us owners share, I think the definitive proof here is our own Ataxian? This is a man who has used gravity to break every piece of glass he's ever attached to a Solo yet as far as we know has yet to break a single Solo? Despite heroic efforts and 100% on stems?

Yeah, I guess I kinda missed them as well. Well hidden amongst the thousands of happy campers? IMO the nay saying is almost purely subjective. You don't trust your best friend to select glasses or Scotch for you, why have strangers select your vape?

37,000 posts speaks pretty loud to me, on face value alone.

In the end, even if a vape has a huge following with LOTS of happy owners, the only way to know if it's for you is to try it out?

Try loading it a little tighter, gently tamping it. After I'm done my session I have to tap the gong on the edge of my abv container rapidly while it's still hot to empty it. If I let it cool down I have to use the pokey stick.

I agree, a bit of packing can do wonders sometimes. I tend to press the load gently into the stem so it's a bit below flush in the center (round fingers, you know.....) and do a 'hamster style' hit or two. Stuff gets well glued together and doesn't rest on hot metal after that. I too end up digging ABV out if it gets cold first, sometimes even hot.

It varies with strain and cure, of course. What works for my stash might not for the next fellow?

What do you guys recommend as a connection between bubbler and solo.
right now, i still use the stock stem.
Its a little delicate but i can wobble the stem in the SOLO and in the bubbler; so controll the airflow a little bit.

Still thinking about a real gong or a black tipped AIR stem.

And perhaps a outdoor stem.

usually i start the SOLO on 5, do 3-4 slows draws and finish with 2 draws on 6.
thats about 200°C and above.
When i put this vaped load in my mighty and turn in to 196°C, i still get 1-2 small clouds.

SOLO for taste

Right now I'm hitting the D020 with an Easy Flow 18mm Water Adapter, that's one of the ones with notches and grooves. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Easy-Flow-Ar...705022?hash=item3ab8cf6dfe:g:dFgAAOSwLVZV5X1- The others work but aren't quite as good. I have a gong that was cheap and looked good, quite robust, but was too constricted and I want to go at that with my Dremel tool and make grooves and notches and make the holes bigger. If I don't break it, it should be great, like the one costing 2/3 more. Because the Solo is so versatile and can be used many different ways there is a lot of room for personal preference in how it's used. Things that I thought were tremendous 6 months ago were forgotten when something that worked better came along.

Do you mean when loading it? You turn your Solo upside down and turn your stem upside down, and then insert the stem into the Solo. When it's fully in, you can turn it right-side up. Same for unloading — don't unload it right-side up; invert it!

Yeah, sorta. Fine up to "When it's fully in, you can turn it right-side up" part, the idea is to keep it inverted and hit it a couple of times (like a hamster drinking water from his bottle?) before setting it all upright again. The load fuses together with the heat and evaporation (as it will), and stays intact even 'when upside down'?

In fact, if you do it right (and are gentle enough) you can pull the stem 'upside down' straight up out of the Solo and 'not spill a drop'. Defy gravity, amaze your friends, impress beautiful women, make the world your oyster.

Or not, your call.
