Hello guys. I love FC and I just want to say thanks for everything throughout the years I've been lurking.

I have 1 question. I want a solo super bad but refuse to pay retail. Are there any legit eBay sellers you guys suggest?

Thanks so much in advance for all the help.

When buying a vape it's important that you buy somewhere that has good customer aftercare. You never know when you may need to return it and get another without any hassle.

I bought my Solo from Puffitup, with the discount it was $160. They answer their emails in a timely manner and have a phone that they actually answer. I also bought a car charger and an Eds Granadillo wooden stem too. Online I purchased on a Sunday and received my Solo on Wednesday with free shipping.

The Solo is an excellent vape, that has good flavor and is a very sturdy unit with a reasonable price. This unit does not waste herb. It has been around for awhile and has proved to be one of the best portables out there.

No learning curve with the Solo.

Sounds like a great unit, tried and true. I definitely need something portable for flowers. I realize that im asking Solo owners....if you guys were to start your collection over in March of 2014 would you buy the Solo, Firefly, or something else?

Great question. I love the Solo...but haven't really used it much since I got my FF. If I could only have one, I prefer the FF. But the Solo is a lot cheaper, and really has almost no learning curve. The FF provides superior vapor and is, IMO, overall a superior vape. But it can take a while to develop a consistently effective technique.

The FF is a better vape, but the Solo is awesome and is a better value. That probably didn't really answer your question.

I would buy the Solo hands down. That's right it is tried and true. Whether it's the new Solo or the older model. I have the Ascent, the Pinnacle Pro,MFLB, also the No 2. My Solo is my #1 driver and is the top of the line without a doubt.

I have the new model Solo that I bought from Puffitup and the older model which is still a wonderful unit.

Praises to Arizer for making such a great vaporizer.

I've read through the Firefly posts and I don't like the fact that you can only get a small amount of draws per charge. FF is very pricey, $260, you would need extra batteries too.

I haven't used a FF but I think the Solo is worth every penny of its RETAIL price, let alone the $160 I paid from PuffItUp.

CAN I ask a question, Please?

What is the diameter of the Solo mouthpiece tube at the mouth end? At the heater end (what diameter fits into the heater)? Thanks!

@GetToTheChoppa re: choice:

I have a FireFly and a MFLB. I've ordered a Solo. Why?

The MFLB is a very compact and versatile manual wooden conduction device that's hard to control, but it can be done - in a pinch. It's totally pocketable, and stealthy. It uses cheap Ni-MH AA batteries. Their stuff is priced high for the materials used, but they're a cool US company with unconditional warranty, clever products. The MFLB can be shared if users are experienced, but it's a pretty small "bowl". It's quite efficient. The temp is uneven on the heating screen, and overheating in spots is hard to avoid. Fat clouds. A $20 kit offers concentrate pads, but that almost demands their power supply ($70). Their new Mau-Deeb vapes concentrates only, much hotter.

The FireFly is all-convection, gorgeous and provides exquisite vapor. Many people who are into flavor seem to agree it's second only to the Volcano. It's built like a 1958 Cadillac, the vapor path is glass and stainless steel, unusual design. A bit expensive? You can get highly baked ABV with a little effort, but the normal result is lower temp, say not over 400 deg F. That vaporizes the relevant fractions, with a lighter more awake head/body effect. The final fractions are more sedative, I don't normally want that last drop, it's doh-land and smells. There's a micrprocessor inside, but no LCD or settings, no preliminary heating, you just draw. The FF is pocketable, the vapor is barely noticeable if you don't push it, I use it in public all the time, it sort of looks like an elegant flip phone you're nibbling, you can palm it and the chrome and dark grey are somehow not very noticeable. It holds 0.02 to 0.2 grams of ground buds, great for one person. The custom removable 7.4 volt battery's good for two bowls and recharges in 45 minutes. A spare is a good idea. It's a one master vaporizer and takes some practice at first. Connecting to a water device is tricky. Concentrates can be vaped on a pad.

The Solo is an oven type conduction vaporizer, interesting because of the many temp settings, thermostat and easy interface to water devices via all glass adapters (if you can find one). It's not stealthy but can be concealed in a drink cup. It's evidently not as tasty, but easily shared or bonged in a set-and-forget it mode. It also makes fatter clouds. It will probably please most users.

If there could be only one, I'd probably stick to the FireFly, but I haven't got my Solo yet.

I would agree with @mitchgo61… The Firefly is a superior vape and I had my Solo for a looong time. If you are gonna vape with friends though, get the Solo and make yourself a Vapor Lung! If you are usually alone then the Firefly will give you an overall better experience and will save you weed!

Ohno! Farmer uttered the feared words. So the Solo wastes weed?!? why that's Serious!

And my unit hasn't shipped.
I could still cancel my $140 Solo out of Texas, maybe order from Puff instead?

Solo is not just a conduction oven like the Pax… It has a LOT OF convection going on and how much conduction you get depends only on how long you leave the stem in the heater. Most people do, so it wastes some weed in the process...

Feared words @fernand ?

i dont think the solo wastes weed no vape comes from my stem unless i pull on it
i do find if i leave it longer then the vapor will build up in the stem and give a thicker hit
i suppose if you was to tern it on and not suck on it you would wasted weed but not with normal use

Yeah any conduction action can theoretically waste material. But unlike the VB2, which will essentially cook away everything when it's on, whether you draw or not, the Solo doesn't seem to do this. Leave the stem in un-hit and material is only marginally cooked, at most.

But Farmer is right, FF's on demand convection heat is absolutely more conservative than any conduction device.

I cropped this from the original photo however I use the SOLO the most and I think if you use it right it is very useful. I find that my flowers go a long way! I get way more medicated because of the longer sessions possible without damaging the flavor.

The PAX has a totally different flavor profile than a SOLO just as the LOTUS does.

The PAX, LOTUS, SOLO, FIRE FLY or any other portable are all good vaporizers however different.
I will get more vaporizers maybe all of them?
However I use the SOLO the most!
I will always have SOLO's in my quiver!

We all have different needs!

When all we had was ZIG ZAGS 30 grams every 3 days was normal!
In HAWAII it was free anyway!

Have you forgotten?
CANNABIS is the "HOLY GRAIL" not vaporizers!

If there could be only one, I'd probably stick to the FireFly, but I haven't got my Solo yet.
I will get a FIRE FLY and you get a SOLO.
I have 3 SOLO'S and with water they pair well!
Smaller setups work best in my unqualified option.

oh i was not denying that yes a convection on demand vape will be more conservative
but i was saying the solo dose not wasted weed and i get all the vapor my solo puts out in my lungs

Good post , I like to hear your thoughts on the Solo too .
And don't worry , the Only thing that gets wasted ... is the user .

Good point. Opinions of which is better should be based on experience. As long as we're on that topic, how about putting Cera and Bender on the list? How does FF stack up to them? After all they're in the same class as FF, right?

@OF I was thinking do other users experience the full benefit of Mac Givering?

The wax pens are in a whole different category.

The diameter of the mouthpiece of the Solo is: the length - 4.5 inches, 3/8 inches at the top,
1/2 inch in diameter at the base. I got this info off a website that sells the Solo and assessories.

Edit: I want FC member ataxian's yard and live in sunny California, not rainy WA state, I'm envious.

I bought a Solo from Puffitup and I think its wonderful. I'm just using the stems that came with it, and in fact, I ordered a few more so that I might preload stems and cork them for stems-on-the-go.

I have read at least the last 100 pages, and an issue that seems to crop up frequently is what to do with loose stems. For me, an easy solution is to take a little strip of thick paper (thicker than printer paper, like card stock) and place it in the hole and then put the glass stem in. The thicker paper acts as a shim and keeps the glass stem in by friction.

The heater may darken the end of the paper, but it hasn't combusted on me. If Fahrenheit 451 is correct as to the combustion point of book paper (nod to Ray Bradberry), it shouldn't be a problem.

The firefly battery is only good for 2 bowls? Wow what a trip. People are cool with that huh? Whats the point of a small portable if you have a pocket full of batteries? Its all gotta fit in your pocket. For some reason that is a huge turn off. Borderline laughable. It must produce some amazing vapor for people to buy and love it.

Oh wow, thanks! so that's 12.7 mm maybe 13 mm in The Chamber. The Firefly has a 12.5 to 15.5 mm tapered bowl. I'm a musin' that a Solo Gong might fit in the FF. If you could find 'em. Is that stem broken or does it break down into 2 pieces on porpoise?

My vape lab now needs additions: for glassblowing. The Chem and mechanical sides are covered fairly well. It used to be hard explaining that it was for flavorings and nicotine, not Schedule 1 stuff. Glad that's no longer necessary.

Bubble hash seems to work well. How does BHO perform in contrast? I can use the BHO with the solo inverted to a bubbler so draining into the bowl is not a concern

2 bowls is usually plenty and the batt charges in 45 min. I carry one extra battery, they are small. Oh yes the flavor is unusually great. lll compare to the Solo soon as it gets here, But FireFly is a very specific new thing, engineered for great taste.

I'm looking forward to my Solo, but dig this: the Firefly is all metal and glass/ceramic. Automotive baked polymer paint and chrome. It's like an iPhone, it's an idol, it's my preshusss. An instrument of ritual.
