As far as taste goes, I can't really comment. I assume its an acquired taste?
I do not think the taste of cannabis is an "acquired taste" in the traditional sense. I think it is much more Pavlovian than acquiring a taste for coffee, beer, wine, foods, etc..
When you first consume cannabis you may not consciously take note of the flavor, but you may associate the pleasant effects of cannabis with the flavor that you do perceive. Over time the flavor is so strongly associated with the pleasant effects that you begin to appreciate, or even
crave the taste. Often consumers have associated certain "flavors" with higher quality cannabis, which leads to a more pleasant experience, therefore they seek those flavors in the cannabis they consume.
There are two reasons people rave about the flavor of the Solo: they are converting from combustion to vaporizing, and the flavors of cannabis are much more subtle when vaporizing, and/or they are comparing the taste from the Solo with other vapes.
In most of these threads people will relate their "taste" experience when they fall back to combusting after vaping for a period (most describe the taste as awful). But you will also read comparisons of the Solo flavor with the flavor of other vapes.
In the case of the Solo, people generally attribute the good "taste" to the glass vapor path and the use of convection heating (vs. conduction). These combine to provide a more "true" taste of the cannabis, versus other materials and heating methods which may adversely impact flavor.
