This is information that I really wanted to hear, and didn't want to hear! lol @$#%^*&%!!!!!! ok so now i'm pretty much 100% confident that this flaking issue is right across the board and requires many hours for it to occur. I would have been ok with their insert or redesign or whatever, however if you're getting the insulation smell/taste then that is something that i'm guessing is due to the design and definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth, literally. I have found it very difficult at times to use stealthly because of the smell (not from the herb, but the unit) and i'm guessing that some of the more foul tastes have been from the insulation. Gross.

Soooooooooooo, as I still haven't heard back from arizer and haven't slept in 3 days looks like i may have to go back to the EQ. Although some have mentioned the insulation/taste with that vape, I have never. Common Cloud.... you may just be the new best thing that dominates the industry...really hoping that the long release means lots of beta testing because this Solo Shitshow has already tainted arizer's rep in my opinion. I have supported Arizer ever since they starting making vapes, but after spending OVER $300 for this product, and potentially losing big money for selling it, I must say i'm very dissappointed and regret buying it so quick. I guess it was my fault for buying to fast, but I had such trust in the company and products.

Just to vent a little more, and again I do praise the EQ, v-tower, and arizer's service but there are too many things that happened during this launch that made little sense. For the actual owner of the company to be steering you to their website for the product, accessories, etc is a joke and very unprofessional. I don't care if you don't have a web developer or whatever, if you don't know WTF is going on then it's your fault period. It's your product for crying out loud! Lots of frustrated consumers looking for replacement parts and non exist or are very limited from a source or two? common! And now the flaking issue? Was it beta tested AT ALL?? Seems like they rushed it (even though it took YEARS) to the market, used us as guinea pigs, and then release v1.1 so more people buy and so forth. I understand major product improvements such as the EQ after the E, but this reflects badly on the company IMHO.

The other issue I have with Arizer is their shady warranty practices. Serial and date the units, and stand behind your product or DON'T SELL it! Way too much false advertising with the EQ having a 3 year warranty but if you buy it too cheap you may be screwed? Now with Solo's on ebay going for around $200 you have to wonder if it will be honoured, or will it take "longer" as arizer stated lol Make a product, sell it at whatever cost YOU decide and honour your warranty! I don't see how anyone would sell it below what they paid and lose money? Makes no sense to me, but whatever... i try to inform myself, but I can see how alot of people could get screwed out of a warranty this way without even knowing it. How do thousands of units get in the hands of non-authorized vendors??

I will have a Solo up for sale once I get it back either repaired or replaced...email if interested or watch for an ad soon. The Solo has great potential and is awesome, but they need to get the insulation smell/taste out of the unit just as much as repairing the flaking. I just don't trust that the vapour path is as pure and safe as they say based on my actual personal experience with the unit.

I am in Spain for the moment, and I confirm my daily used solo has some of the flaking issues... and the insulation smell/taste; I remember when people were saying here on FC, while I did my first comments on these "questions": "you are too "precious" with your solo, it's totally secondary, nothing to worry about"...HAHA!
Happy to see Arizer is answering honestly and working this thing out!

Does Great vape have a FC code? I couldn't find one when I looked. That AC and car adapters are looking VERY tempting.

As far as the flaking bowl issue....well I will continue to check my "organic ceramic" coating. I have some residue at the very bottom but I haven't seen any signs of flaking so far. I'm not sure what to make of the whole sleeve thing. If it's just one batch why not just replace them? How big a problem is this? What are we up to more than 5 or 6 reporting issues? I will wait and see what happens. Other than a very lame website I can't really complain about Arizer. I'm still impressed with my Solo. However if I had one of the flaking ones I don't know that I could say that. I have been getting alot of use from mine from late June till now. I'm hopeful that it was only a small batch of the heaters that had the bonding issue with the ceramic coating. Time will tell I suppose....

Yes 5 or 6 out of a small group on here. The thing is they all seem to come from different places around the world, which leads me to believe it's not just an isolated "small batch", especially if Arizer has changed vendors and will be switching to the sleeve in newer units. At this point as far as i'm concerned, they should be refunding me every penny from my receipt, or the vendor should (which they won't).

Sorry for the troubles you are having with your Solo Vape4life.:(

Bummer for sure. I just carefully unscrewed my top of my Solo and checked the heater again. No FLAKING so far....no sign of it or anything. I've been using mine non stop for 2 months with the Solo only getting a break overnight when I'm sleeping and it's charging.

I'm not convinced yet that it's a complete failure of the bonding process on all their units. The fact that they are spread out around the world does lead to thinking that its more than "one batch" but I don't know anything about their distribution network nor will I venture to guess how they send them out to their distributors. I got mine from Rockwise early on. I think that's where you got yours too right? At least you are in Canada....the "home" of Arizer.
I will wait for more posts from people who are dealing with this situation to continue to stay informed about this. That whole sleeve business sounds bizarre to me.....why not just pop another heater unit into the effected Solo's???

I can't say what happened with the Arizer Solo, and I don't want to make excuses for them... however... in other industries, the Grey Market is often fed by rejected units, that were supposed to have been destroyed, being "liberated" by either employees of the company or intrepid dumpster-divers. Don't ask me how I know this.

Thanks AW, much appreciated...and yeah it sucks. I bought mine from the friendly stranger in toronto about a week or two after the launch. Rockwise was just being awesome in delivering my solo to Arizer to speed up the process, which I have yet to hear back from Arizer and haven't received a replacement yet. If it was just one issue it probably wouldn't bother me, but it's the insulation issue AND the ceramic that has me concerned. I have zero tolerance and patience when it comes to inhaling shit into my lungs. And the more I learn about the Extreme-Q's airpath and tubing has me even more concerned. Not a big deal, I have lost faith in the company, and will be throwing my money at VapeXhale which I respect alot more now, especially after seeing actual beta testers here and no "secrets" for years like the Solo. It has now bit them in the ass and will obviously affect profits. Again, not to slam Arizer, just a disappointed customer after 6 years of loyalty seeing all the shadiness with this launch, the warranty and pricing practices, website, availability of accessories, etc.

I hope your Solo lasts forever. If you have put that much use into it you may be very well on a good track. If it doesn't smell and the bowl doesn't chip than at this point i'm actually envious. I just sniffed my laptop vents....no smell lol

lol interesting... I have only purchased my products from authorized retailers, but you don't see this issue with other manufacturers? I mean are their VHW's, herbos, PD's, etc on eBay? lol It's just shit like this that kinda destroys my confidence in the company.

OK not sure if it is a metal insert or what. They have also gone to another vendor for their coatings.

If its an insert... I wonder if the tight-fitting glass bats that some people have will fit?

vape4life...Tom had problems with people buying PD's and selling them on ebay for more than MSRP. If there is a margin somewhere, someone will exploit it.

Also, and I'm not looking to pick a fight so let's not go there, but in kicking around this forum since it started and being an Arizer customer since the E launch, I've never come across anyone as disenchanted with Arizer as a company as you are. I gotta think that you might not be communicating with them through the proper channels or something because the other defective unit owners seem to be getting resolutions.

I am with Aesthyrian on this. Mine has no chipping (yet). If it ever gets to that point I would be inclined to remove the rest of the coating, since it is for appearance only, and expose the entire steel interior surface.

Alot of it stems from frustration and disappointment, not to mention withdrawl lol I'm just waiting for my replacement and haven't heard from them so i'm assuming it may take more than a couple of days to ship out.

You have read my disappointements already... i'm sure you understand at least some of them. Just looked at Tom's PD website...wow, Arizer could learn a thing or two from them.

I will be in contact with you shortly via email re: the Cloud if you don't mind...I just wanna read the entire thread first to educate myself before I start asking stupid questions :)

Not a solution...just masking it. If it tastes bad, and it seems like more and more people are saying this then maybe there is some offgassing ocurring. Jebus, what a contrast from when this thread started and raving about the awesome pure taste.

Had mine for 1 month now.I use it everyday but not all day.I have no probs with flaking so far.The smell issue I get a tiny bit when I switch it on but it soon dissipates after a minute.Just wondering if anyone here got theirs from Vaposhop and is having these flaking/stinking problems?.

This may actually be a valid concern. Tastes shouldn't be happening if it was just exposed stainless steel. There are other vapes with stainless steel heater cores, and they don't taste like ass. I check mine every use or 2 now. I don't unscrew the top, I just shine a light in real close. So far possible "micro-chipping" is the best word I can think of. But no taste so it is likely just a scratch from the glass going in and out several times daily. The ceramic seems dirty in one part, but honestly it looks like it may be thinning out in that area. Not too happy :( I really hope Arizer offers some way to fix this. My vape shouldn't be stressing me out, especially for the price.

I got one of theirs and I've not yet got any of these problems. I've only had it a few weeks really, but it's been put through it's paces and well tested- constantly on or charging. I've got some marking at the bottom of my ceramic bowl, but i think it's just a narrow line of baked herbals at the bottom of the ceramic bowl- I think it's where I've left the stem in cooking for ages, as it's also stained the bottom of the glass stem with a ring of that hard brown stain that needs scraping, rather than soaking. Maybe it'll come off the 'organic ceramic' with an ISO q-tip, but I'm not sure if that's a wise idea :p

I've not experienced any real issue with poor tastes or smells. The very first time I fired it up there was a little of that hot electrics smell, but it soon dissapated never to return. The taste is clean.

If it does indeed stay like this I'll be happy, so I'm keeping calm.

WatTyler,
Yeah I a little circle the bottom of mine too. I wouldn't stress that; but it is a prime example of how bad the durability is on the coating. The less we poke at it and use it the less it will flake =/

honestly, this isn't just a bad batch. We all got the beta units. I suggest we all contact Azier before the company starts getting a lot of traffic and can't cater to us.

Has anyone gotten a replacement unit yet?

I think the smell issue depends on the sensitivity of ones individual palate, and possibly there are a few units which do produce a different smell which vape4health is mentioning. The first time you fire up an extreme vaporizer you are told to run it for 15 minutes on a high temperature before using (In the manual), which I assume is to remove the moisture from the insulator fabric so you don't end up tasting or smelling it. I thought this was what vape4health might be continuing to smell, which really would not be a big deal, but I think something may be up with his unit if it is producing a smell you can actually smell in the room. I can not smell the 'hot plate' smell of the Arizer Solo unless I literally stick my nose up to the hole. I do not taste it in any of the hits, they taste very 'pure', even compared to any whip vaporizer I've used, I find the taste milder than that of a vinyl or silicon whip. If you're looking for it you may be able to taste it or smell it more, but I think the insulation fabric of all things would be what they'd look into most. I still continue to trust Arizer's word that the airpath is safe. Once I receive my new Solo I'll fully dismantle the unit it, heat it up, see what parts get hot inside, and report back on my findings and post pictures if I find anything disturbing. But honestly I doubt I'll find anything beyond a pad of hot insulation fabric creating the familiar, but faint smell. I'm also 100% sure they would of at least chose something 'temperature safe'.

I got one from Vaposhop as well. Been using it every day for a month now and so far all's good. No smell & no flaking. Still very happy with my Solo, still want an off option for the timer and a replaceable & spare battery for V2 though.

OhTheAgony,
put mine up for trade the day I got it. just isn't me. Wish i could get a supreme in my state =/

Has anyone taken off they top piece to the bowl to watch that ceramic better. My lotus bowl doesn't touch any of the sides and would work in the bowl if I could just take off that plastic top layer. Anyone have any recomendations.
