Yes, Solo is good to have on hand, even if you don't use it all the time. I ended up buying a 2nd one, just because when paired up w/ the PVHES stem, I find this vape to be very satisfying, and consistent. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us!!

Did ed's stem stretch anybody's retaining ring to hell? My glass stem fits soo loose now it's unreal. I had no idea it was going to do that
Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. I've been on the fence for a long time, mostly due to ease of cleaning and discretion. I'll stick with glass and a tight crucible thanks

I almost never use the Solo without water, but I did bring it with my to Canada's Wonderland last week. The car was pretty foggy by the time my session was finished.

Now I know what happened my retaining ring must have stretched as well. My glass stems were very tight...to tight and now the straight to me is just tight enough and the bent a little to loose. I have ed's stem too. I have been switching between them to find a groove. I will say the solo vape is nice. I personally hate the restriction no matter what I use and lifting and all that fun stuff. I still am glad I bought it and have it in my arsenal...ok I use it daily. I switch between the INH and the Solo

As far as learning curve, I disagree, I think there is a learning curve but that is my opinion. I can't wait to get the pvhes stem I think that will help. I do like vape from glass that to me is very enjoyable. The vape is so cool.

PVHES stems should not effect the O ring any more than the stock stems IMO... they are made with stock stems as far as I understand it. If your stems are too loose there have been people using the #11 O ring http://www.amazon.com/Danco-11-O-Ri...TF8&colid=347LC4A6UYZBC&coliid=I2MNX6W6Y9YKNG

Unscrew the cap, put a stem in the heat chamber, drop the O ring down on top of the teflon O ring, screw cap back down tight, remove stem, and you now have a tighter stem hole, that you have to work the stem in and out a little a lot like when it was new (if you had the tight one). That was one fix for the really loose 105's from a while back. I have no data on the O ring itself, but there were no complaints about it as far as I know. Just putting this out there~ again.

Oh, and from what I have experienced so far, using the turbo PVHES stem with a fine screen is the least restrictive draw I have ever had on the Solo...

cool. i was just worried about restriction

Let me elaborate a little bit.

The stock stems start fitting a bit looser with time, and the draw eases up/you get used to it.

Anymore, I use stock 90% of the time and the other 10% is when I'm using water.

Yes, I have noticed that hence why I haven't given my opinion yet of what I thought of the solo. Thanks for that confirmation.

Jam If the turbo is the easiest draw that is the one I want. The way the solo is now I feel like I have to think when I use it. I don't want to think.

Was it suppose to come with an o-ring on it already? I did open the top, I didn't see anything fly but if there is one on there I have to look for it now. Please let me know. My bent stem now falls out after I couldn't even get it in.

no it came with a retention ring that was built in. What she is talking about is an extra one that people have added.

You can't go overkill with this beautiful plant!!!

Now..... In the middle of a great buzz after waking up, thanks to my fresh delicious unknown strain crop, and after countless hours of vaking and baking with the Solo, I will declare two things! :myday:

First, by putting no screen in the glass stems and by grinding coarse 60-65% moisture weed, you get no particles in the mouth, you achieve the most thorough and fast vaping of the herbs and you need half the maintenance for the stem (the bowl doesn't get nearly as dirty as with a screen). And no stirring needed...
Second, for my vapor lung (3lt bottle) its just one white thick cloud for the first fill and a see through cloud for the second one (for any weed and strain). I can juice a third filling but it's very thin vapor and pop-corny. It only takes 5-8 mins to finish a full load (not pressed) this way. I have never managed to replicate this just with my mouth or a bubbler/bong. It is just too harsh and I need 15-20 mins. My throat and tongue were usually burnt at the end of the session (very sensitive). The same goes when at lower temps. It takes more time and I get burned tongue and throat. If I put more weed in the bowl, press it a little and hit it at 2, I get a VERY THICK cloud that burns everything inside me (including mouth and throat!!!) and cough my ass out! If I just fill the bowl and hit at 7, I get a THICK THICK cloud that I can take much easier and it easily destroys me. Remember, it's a big bottle. Sooooo, my long researched conclusion :science: is that THE TEMPERATURE you set your vaporizer to doesn't have anything to do with how harsh the vapor is. The THICKNESS or VAPOR/AIR RATIO and the TIME AND SPEED of the hit are what make the difference! More weed=harsher vapor! Longer or faster hits or even both=harsher vapor! It's up to anyone of course to figure out what's the best quantity for a comfortable hit. For me, a full load of the Solo stem is usually just right (my weed)... For bought (usually not so pure) weed a full load might be harsher...
End of rant... :whip:

I can't speak highly enough about PuffItUp and their customer service. If I ever have to buy another Solo, I'd definitely get it from Randy.

Wow! Only $160 for the solo. How long do you think they will have this sale? Wouldn't be able to snag one for another 2 weeks, think i'll be safe with still getting that price? I don't have a portable and I was looking at that hammer too kingofnull; I feel like it would be silly for me to not put down the extra $60 and get the solo. I also like the solo because it appears good enough to be a workhorse unit too; solo owners agree with that?

I definitely think the Solo could be a 'workhorse'. I use the PV GonG stems and they seem much more sturdy than the stock or PVHES stems.

I'm loving the power adapter too, never have to worry about battery life at home.

I was using Solo as my main driver from Feb - Aug (when I got a Cloud) of this year, the PVHES is a huge improvement no matter which kind you get.

ili send me a pm on how to make that thing you love so much.

I am going to have to read your post again tomorrow to understand your harsh and not harsh story. I will of course test it and see if that is the same for me. I actually think it might hit us all differently. When I tried the solo, someone elses, I did cough but I had to learn it. I do take long slow hits..way slow for me and have no harshness. I always have a loose bowl however or I can't draw at all. Now with my stem flying all over the place loose is becoming an issue. I just don't find no matter what I do, even when I coughed, that the solo produces a harsh inhale. That is what I like the best about it...smooth and cool ok and the feel of the glass in my mouth.

Is this normal for the stem to be so tight I thought I was going to break it now it is so loose I can blow on it and it will come out?

Mine is like that too. Very tight at first but now so loose that I worry taking it outside. Other people have said it's not really an issue and it gives you the bonus of better airflow, but I don't know, it seems REALLY loose. As much as I love the solo I'm not massively happy with the extremely loose chamber and much shorter battery life than expected.
Don't get me wrong, the solo, when you allow for these problems, is a really really great vape. It's what I use most of the time. But for the purposes of portability and convenience, the unsettlingly loose bowl and under an hour battery life is a let down.
