Arizer Solo

Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't see that as an issue, however, because you can cool down the Solo pretty quickly just by turning the heater down/off and cycling some air through it.

Yeah in my experience it doesn't take too long for the Solo to cool for lower temperatures. 10 minutes maybe at most.

I am starting to notice a slight taste on my M107 - almost taste like skunked weed - soaking my stems today in ISO and will change my screens - I hope this changes things. Anyone else have these issues in the past?

Mine gets that way and switching out & soaking the 'littered' stems does the trick for me.

I also need to occasionally clean the chamber surface if I've been on a spell of kief/oil binges.

Do you clean the chamber with ISO? I usually just dunk a qtip in some iso and that does the trick.

I have to ask - why would you start higher to work your way lower - at higher temps you've already spent the unnecessary meds - hence going lower wouldn't make sense. Personally based on the dryness of my weed I start at either 4 or 5 and slowly work my way up. I will generally only hit 7 if I am filtering through water. I am even taken back by the DBV comment about combusting at max - I have had my DBV for years and have never seen anything above or beyond 2 o'clock. Keep in mind that essentially the Buddha is a fucking soldering iron - it wont be hard nor is it abnormal to reach combustion. By the way - I offer my comments as advise - please don't take it as disrespect. I'm only offering help...:)

I am aware that you can combust flowers with the DBVs heater. I was just making a reference to how big of hits we get, and I, like other people stated, max out the heat on the DBV to get the biggest rips. I am a hard hitter and I have never had one burn on me. Someone who is inexperienced with the way vapor works could probably burn it though.

I could be wrong but maybe he's talking about wanting to start at a low temp on a fresh bowl just after finishing one on a higher temp.

This is exactly what I meant. I have only owned my solo for almost 2 weeks now, and have used it every day 10+ bowls a day. My solo has a full time job.

This is all stuff that just goes thru my head while vaping. I have no proof or evidence of my thoughts thus far. Just speculation

I think I mentioned earlier that I sometimes cool the stem down after using it by breathing through it for a little bit. What works really fast is to take the empty but hot stem and cover the bowl and its sides with a napkin or my shirt so that when I breath through it the air is travelling over the outside of the bowl, then over the lip and into the bowl and through the stem. This cools it off at least twice as fast as just breathing through it. I hope this makes some sense...pretty hard to describe.

Yes, that's what I do... I soak a qtip and clean it upside down to make sure non travels inside.

I use the M102 still with the ceramic (M105 SS they sent to replace it was absolute garbage to me with it's permanent robo fart that I keep around for a future battery replacement), so as long as I'm constant at keeping it clean that works. There have been times where I've let it go a lil too long and had to your a brass bristle brush on a dremel to get it clean again.

smokum,
I just ordered the Solo Power Adapter from Planet Vape and it's great for longer sessions. Instead of shutting down after 12 minutes it resets the temperature to 1. I usually notice before it's fully cooled down. By the time I've stirred my bowl it's usually back up to heat.

That's how I clean mine too but wow, I can't imagine it ever getting that dirty. I'll have to keep on top of it.

I to got a M105 for a replacement(for the chipping) and it just absolutely sucked! Didn't smell but was running way to cool(I actually sent it back and got a different M105). I got the other one and it was better but still was no where near my M103. So one day when I threw a party at my house I was showing it to some guy(just met him) and he said he had to have it. I sold it to him for $150 and he forgot to take the charger with him lol. The funny thing is I never heard from him again? So I don't know what he did with it, it had to have lost the charge in a day or so?

Congrats Ace on the PA .
Yes the auto shut off resets itself every 12 minutes .
I literally try to set it/plug in PA according to the clock's minutes .
ie . plug it at 12:00 and you know the 12 times multiplication table ....12 ; 24 ; 36 etc ..I also do it
when it's portable . It makes it easy for me to know when it shuts off , and less time to reheat to
the same temp. level and less drain on the battery .

Re ; cleaning
To add to smokum's advice .
I also use a fine screen with an iso soaked q-tip to scrub the inside chamber .
I use the q-tip as a stirring stick to move the screen beneath it to get it really clean .
It works very nice but haven't been able to get it original shiny ...but that's ok .
It makes the Solo tastes much better .
Also
I have to soak my stems/screens regularly for cleaning .
Otherwise , I will get the " coughs " , even at the lower temp. settings .

Now, being the proud owner of 2 105s, I have to say something here. You and others say the 105 is too cool. But ... did you know it has buttons so you can increase the temp if need be? And by doing that you can make it a warmer temperature? So I kick mine up to 3-5. I guess if I had some different model I would be 1-3 since the 105 is 'too cool'. Sorry for the rant, but I keep on reading 105=cooler (and vapedia entry has table that isn't correct for 105 anyhow) and I only say "since it is controllable temp, you can figure out how many lights you like to see before you go for the vape. It is as cool/hot as you figure out over time you need for your vape sessions. 105 is not 'too cool', which implies that it can't vaporize because it can't reach vaporization temperatures and that is just simply wrong about 105 - it can and always has been able to vaporize product. So hopy your acquaintance got a suitable charger and that he has good experiences with it asi I am sure he will... After all, he used it and then he paid for it, therefore I conclude it vaporized to his satisfaction.

let me rephrase by saying too cool for me. I have used it on 7 and it doesn't even compare. The only way I could get the clouds I desire would be to pack the shit out of the bowl. Not everyone is the same. But, I will tell you that "most" people think it runs to cool. I run my ceramic(M103) at 5 and 6 for just regular vaping and 7 when I use it with a bub. That wasn't even possible when I had my m105. So for me it would have never worked. Not saying it didn't "work". Just didn't work for me so IMHO it ran too cool.

I concur with VNS - I have a 102 and a 107 - my buddy has the 105 and we always run it one setting higher than we do with mine while vaping on his 105 - and what is upsetting is who are we to attack each other and say that anyone is wrong? Numerous people have made statements that their 105 runs cool - VNS is a veteran member - IMO rather than try to prove someone wrong use the forum to be supportive - not be fucking king of the room and try to prove everyone's statements untrue.

Because I'm a low temp vaper (2 start to 4-5 finish & don't vapebong 'frequent'), the cooler running didn't dissuade me because I just had to increase my temps by 1 or 2.

But, for me it was that damn robofart that no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of it, so it sits as a 'spare parts' unit for ME.

I love the Solo in general.. and may just move up to the current model, we'll see... but that choice is mine to make along with my current satisfaction level.

What do you members mean by " Robo-farts " ?
and
It only occurred with the M105's ?

It was an electronic/rubbery smell brought on by what I think was improperly cured battery pack rubber. It occurred with more lines than just the M105's but is a thing of the past today.

For the first time I just tried vaping at a much lower setting (3 - 4), what a different feeling! Much lighter, less intense - a much more focused medicinal feeling. Thanks for the Tips y'all!

After two months of daily use I am still impressed with my unit. I got a m107 from Randy at puffitup with the intention of leaving it my car as a daily driver, but it goes pretty much everywhere with me. Bought test tubes, screens, mflb caps and two straight stems from planetvape almost immediately. Extra stems are nice because I'm lazy and don't want to clean them. When my first two were so dirty that the abv was coming out sticky, I tried the hot chocolate recipe on vaporpedia, which was incredible. If you haven't tried it, definitely give it a shot sometime you are felling froggy. It IS way more difficult than iso, but totally worth the time. In the future I will probably be sticking to one stem per cup, two was a bit much. Maybe if you clean yours more frequently two would be appropriate.

I modified one of my stems ala PVHES and was fairly impressed with the increased airflow, but didn't see fit to mod the others. Just put in an order for a PVHES to see if theirs is better.
I am a fan of the pessimistic battery indictor, but I'm the type of guy who sets his clocks fast. Even if I know it is actually 5 minutes earlier it reminds me to hurry up, and being early or charging before 0% certainly doesn't hurt anything.
Another thing that I am extremely pleased with it the durability of the unit. I'm not gentle on anything I own and the solo has stood up to dozens of falls. Lapped it getting out of my truck to gravel once, another time off my porch to a wooden stair and then cement. I would expect this thing to have tons of scuffs and scratches on it, but what ever type of coating my black model has on it is tough. If only apple used the same coating on the back of their new phone...

Just about 6 months I've had my M106 and its still my go-to piece, which is no surprise.

My stems are getting dirty so I think its time to try the hot coco recipe to clean them up. Does it make the place reek though? Can't have that happening.

The power adapter is a great investment too. I find myself charging the battery much less, it went from everyday to every 2-3 days.

Packed the stem y'day and wanted to weigh how much fits in there. A very light pack is around .08 to a full pack closer to .13.

I'll call that .1 on average per stem. Did that becaue I was curious why I was running through 1/4's so quick. Makes sense that I'm vaping 6-8 stems a day it'll last me less than 2 weeks.

It doesn't smell worse than dirty stems when they are in the unit at 7. I clean mine when they start making the abv smell bad or I can smell the stem, rather than the herb, when the it begins to condense.

musicisevil,
Hello, first time poster on FC. I just recently bought the Arizer Solo from vapeworld for 179 with goodie grinder, I was told it was the latest model...Ill try and make this short and sweet. Is the water pipe worth purchasing and if so which one is best along with the solo? Next is has anyone used vapeworld.com services? Lastly, I have an Extreme Q aswell and it is great, can anyone compare the two as far as vape density and vape quality etc, just basiclally vape hits. Thank you so much and have a good one later.

I too have both from the Arizer stables. Love them both. I actually don't really like hitting my solo without water filtration. If you're using the standard stems then bear in mind the restrictive draw design of the solo is so to allow more vapor to air ratio than than the unmodded Extreme. On the other hand you could get some PVHES stems from planet vape.. availability dependant of course.. or head on over to eds and pick up one of his sublime wooden stems, just lovely to behold. Oh also welcome to the family buddy.

Congrats on your purchase. I love my Solo paired with a water pipe. It's really the only way I use mine. I bought my Travel Beaker from Soulshine Family Glass.
