Arizer Solo

Thanks for the airpath responses, guys. My guess is that the airpath in the Solo is going along the ceramic element like the Q. Rockwise, do you know?

Great Scott!
Comparing the solo to MFLB is useless. They really complement each other perfectly and IMO fill all needs in the portable area unless there is some feature people want that I don't know of.

$270 from Rockwise or Greatvape ('Solo' code), both authorized dealers, or $220.99 from vaporizerforweed.net (15% off sale). The units on Amazon all appear to be from the same seller, with no indication they're an authorized dealer. There's really no point in buying for full price.

Are you saying the code for both Rockwise for both Greatvape is "Solo"?

Also how can vaporizerforweed.net be selling that vape for $260? Won't they get in trouble with Arizer for the $220 price?

The code solo only works for greatvape.

Vaporizerforweed.net has one hell of a price at $220.

It's not 100% all glass air path: as for the Q the air comes from the bottom of the unit, travels COLD through its guts (electronics, wires etc..) and gets in the bowl and stem, where IT IS HEATED... So yes 100% glass HOT air-path, not 100% glass air-path...Right?
Please correct me if I'm wrong 'cause I haven't disassembled the Solo but I can see 2 wires in the air intake holes below the unit.

Edit: apparently circuitry is not in the airpath, see Rockwise post.
So have the owners agreed upon how long the battery generally lasts in real life conditions?

Thx Charlie. For the batt lifetime, my review estimation is fair: I get up to 8 bowls if I keep my herbal usual temp settings (between 3 & 5). If I do a hole day of concentrates (from 5 to 7) then I think I'll get 5 bowls. Do you agree guys?

Like smokecity said, the 'Solo' code is Greatvape's. The Rockwise code is listed where all FC discount info is located. And vaporizerforweed.net is listing a 15% off sale, thus the $220.99 price. If that seller is authorized (I doubt it), then Arizer may well object to the Solo being sold at the sale price. If they're not authorized, then warranty could be an issue. But as long as they can get the product, they're going to sell it for whatever price they want.

You need to look at our Retailer Discussion and Retailer Announcements threads in the General section. All specials and discounts can be found there, along with the appropriate discount codes.

@FLskwat, I somewhat agree. I've found, even after a couple months of owning this thing, that one full session on temperature seven only drops the light down one setting. I still think you'd get 6 or 7 cycles on max temperature, idk how many bowls depends on how fast you're tokin. I don't ever end up running my unit all the way down to test it out and seven was my preffered temperature when I used a vaporbong so I had a couple months on only max power. I had to stop with the vaporbong after a catastrophic drop caused by my computer chair spinning around :ko:.

I just got my solo via USPS that I ordered less than 48 hours ago ($220.99 from vaporizerforweed), so pretty fast shipping. I have it charging now here in my office at work, and look forward to giving her a good test drive this evening when I get home. :brow:

The airpath is pretty simple:

Air enters the unit through the holes on the top, enters the heating chamber from below, and rises through the small holes in the bottom of the ceramic core when air is drawn through the glass aroma tube.

Unlike the EQ, the battery and circuitry are completely separated from the air path of the Solo. The air path is limited to the top 2" of the Solo, all the components are in the bottom section.

Well.......... Mine came in tday & did the full charge cycle wait (just because) before trying it.

I'm super impressed with the vape for leaf !! Very different than what I've ever tried vaping before. I had some real small screens from gawd know when or where that sits loose in the stem bowl but does what a screen is supposed to. Did a 3/4 fill (screen loosely against the air holes) and let it preheat to level 4. Kept it there for a while, then bumped it to 6. Total vape time about 10 minutes, before it started tasting "done". Emptied it out and the poo was light to medium brown.

Very nice effects from my ISS at those settings, and will be interesting playing with now having a choice of temps (former long use Iolite user), to compare outcomes. Vaping the glass was a nice experience, even though I feel the fitments should be more precise for comfort and safety, or at least something in place or useable to ensure the fit is perfect each time attached.

One thing for sure..... I certainly won't have any useable poo left over like I did with my other vape since I basically tossed this round right out as toasted.

Not ready to attempt concentrates because I don't want to mess it up, but will most likely give the double screen thing a try eventually, and with hopes to visiting some local art glass blowers to see if they can come up with anything for me.

Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase, and look forward to try many different strains throughout the different available settings and set ups.

Thanks go out to EVERYONE on this thread who have shared their reviews/experience to help me in deciding to buy the Solo.

PEACE

EDIT: ps, I wanted to mention about the tight(er) draw.... I actually like it better than a free flow. However, once I get some more screens with a slightly tight fit I hope to see if I can just "lighten" the draw a touch by offsetting better from the air holes.

Well, I just gave it a test drive. I'm really kinda vaked right now, but I'll give my thoughts anyway.

I was suprised by the size a little. The unit is smaller than I thought it would be, but the glass stems are larger than I initially thought. The unit is also heavier than I thought (weighed in at 8.3 oz.). The bowl is also larger than I thought it would be.

I packed almost a full bowl and turned the unit on 4. After a minute or so it was up to temperature so I took a few pulls. I immediately saw some particulate matter appear in the tube, so I think I'll have to get a screen for sure. The thing produces clouds with ease. I am overmedicated now after about 6 big rips. I set the load aside and I'll finish it off later (I'm pretty sure there's a few good hits in there still).

This is a very fast-medicating device, especially for a portable. So if you need to get really medicated in a hurry, this thing will do the trick.

It needs some type of carrying case (padded to protect the glass). I wouldn't take it out and about without a nice case for it. I'm going to look around for a nice camera case for it.

I can't comment on the battery life yet as I'm on my first load still. So far I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Yeah I think my Solo is defective, it keeps getting me excessively medicated. This thing really packs a punch, at first I was worried the 12 minutes auto shut off timer would not be long enough to get medicated, but really you only need about half that.
The design is very impressive, vapor and a lot of it as soon as you pull on it, no 1/2 lung of nothing like some other vapes. It is like an Extreme elbow pack on steroids! The ABV explains it all, beautiful dark golden brown, no black spots what so ever and material is completely spent, with out the need to stir.

Positives:
-Vapor Vapor Vapor, excessive amounts even on low heat and great taste.
-Easy to use quickly and to get quickly medicated.
-Heat chamber stays spotless.
-Quality, you really get your moneys worth with the Solo.
-Battery lasts long for a portable.
-Wide range of temperatures to choose from.

Negatives:
-Unit is pretty slippery to grip, needs a nice rubberized coating on the sides.
-Bat is a pain in the ass to clean, due to big time vapor production the bat resins up very quickly. Buy extra bats at the time you purchase your Solo as they are fragile too.

Great Scott!
While doing a just for fun test of the efficiency of this vape, I used a speck. A TINY spec and broke it up.

This is how little I used and was still able to produce MULTIPLE large clouds of vapor. I am yet to find an amount too small to make vapor.

I've seen this concern (cycle won't be long enough) posted before, and I am curious why anyone has it. As I understand it, you just have to press the ON button and you're back in business with another 12 minute cycle, a trivial nuisance as far as I can see. What am I missing?

Edited to clarify...

For the people that have not installed screens in their glass it is much easier not to break down your buds and just put it in directly so that nothing will get through when you are vaping.

Thanks Rockwise...that helps!

I'm still wondering what is in the actual airpath, though. We keep talking about what is not in the airpath.

Is it the glass distorting on the stem or the device after mild use ??

I had one stem that fit decent (if turned a certain way) but now it just free spins and wobbles, which is annoying as hell !

Anyone come up with a work around yet for their loose fitment issues ?

TIA

@Pakalolo The frustration with the auto-shut off is the thing goes cold by the time you get it on again. It always stalls your session up to a minute, especially if you don't catch it. You have to hold both buttons down for a second and release them while the light is blinking or it doesnt turn on. After that it takes a few seconds to initialize before you can pick a temperature, then once you've selected a temperature even a few more before it starts heating. It effectively drops your heat down two or three lights and if it happens only after one hit into a bowl it can kind of 'ruin' the rest of it while waiting for it to get up to your heat again. Most people run it in silent mode and don't even notice when it turns off (I don't anyway), so thats even more time for it to cool if you dont notice it turned off right away. It's only a frustration when you stop to type a post up. My vape just auto offed it self and I was right about to hit it!

@Smokum, they're designed to be loose. Also at different temperatures the holes are different sizes and when the vapes hot the snug pieces are usually less snug I've found, but after some resin build up on different parts can become snug again.

I still think the auto shutoff is an essential feature while on the battery. Hopefully when I get the 9v dc heating wire the auto shut off is disabled.

I've been vaporbonging with my solo with very nice results. Anybody else try this? The glass mouthpiece doesn't make a perfect seal, but it fits snug enough into the bottom of a 14mm downstem to create a decent seal. I hope they make a GonG attachment for this thing. It seems to provide as much vapor in the bong as my EQ. :brow:
