For sure, though my name is Craig, but still don't take my word for it
I have now done a more scientific experiment, and first impression is still preference to non-domed screens.
However, it made me realise how much weed I am still using!
I weighed out 0.05g, placed a domed screen upside down in the chamber so the curved bottom was facing up where I then layered the weed.
Did the pre-soak to 6, then back down to 5 and started hitting my D020-K bubbler, was able to pull vapour for the full 12 minute session ( generally I take 30 second breaks between draws).
I then let it cool, removed the screen and then weighed another 0.05g and squashed against the chamber bottom and repeated the session.
Without the screen I got thicker clouds, though they started to peter out quicker, but I seemed to get more of a hit.
I accept that it was the second bowl, so all I was doing is topping up, but I still feel I get a better session without the domed screen.
HOWEVER, and yes that is a big however, I now seriously appreciate what
@Jethro was saying about it being upside down and reducing the amount of herb used, as I never weighed my load before.
No wonder my initial impression was "without dome screen is better", I can 't believe how little 0.05g is! I think my normal session is @ 0.1g-0.15g / 0.2g, as I fill a stock solo chamber @ 1/2 - 3/4 full.
Using a dome screen is a seriously good way of keeping your load to a bare minimum, especially when used inverted, but my own personal preference is to get more of the herb touching the glass stem.
Always a pleasure, fun and educational taking part in the FC community, thank you!
