Ah, so on the maximum setting it's normal for the temp to drop regularly over the 12 mins, causing the heater to turn on every time.

Like I said, on the other settings the red LED went out & stayed off. It was just because it kept going on & off on 7 that it had me worried. :uhoh:



I'm charging it again as I did so many cycles testing I ran the battery down. As soon as its done, it's time!! It's at 5 just now so not long to go...

Big thanks to everyone who helped me out :bowdown:

I finally have my phves bent shorty turbo on the way!!! I'm so excited I waited a year to order it cause I could never find the thing in stock! Any one has any experience feedback comparison with the stock stem?

@ leaf of Faith. Mate you are over complicating it. The solo is solid. It can handle being over charged under charged and everything in between. Heaters cool down so the red light blinks to get the chamber back to temp.

Even burnoffs are not really required IMO. unless the unit emits a strange smell when heating no real need for burn offs. Hell I didn't even do the extra over charge first time with mine and my battery is still strong after 8 months of use.

Its plug and play ... load, heat and draw. I don't know why everyone wants to over complicate the solo when its so easy to use.

It's true the Solo is a solid device and is the workhorse of portable vaporizers. There have been times where I've fallen asleep or have forgotten the Solo on the charge after a solid green light. Mine is still going strong with over an hour of battery life after 1 yr. I use it all the time.

Just relax and enjoy. This unit is one of the easiest vaporizers to use. There's a lot of talk about the battery, it's any wonder a person would worry, but you don't need to.

Recently I haven't even needed to go over 4-5, and this is through water... Massive clouds :D even @ 4... over and over again.

@leaf of faith, if you're tossing up between vortex stem and gong/water tool... IMO get the latter first. Vaping through water is amazing; you can use higher temps if you want to without the harshness usually associated with it, bigger more intense hits etc. There's just something about watching a bong fill up with vapor and then getting knocked on your ass :ko: A more traditional experience, you could say, with all the health benefits that come with vaping... I love it :D Again just my opinion and of course I'll be getting the vortex stem very soon.

The black leaf double HC bong I use admittedly requires more lung power than smaller bubblers to fill but its worth it... gets me where i want to be in noticeably less hits. my d020-d broke but I have the gb-187 and replacement d020-d coming soon anyway (well, they'll be shipped out when CNY ends). a lot of experimenting you can do re: water tools as well, I think you'll enjoy it !

Hey guys! New to FC but not with the Arizer. Have had a couple of these. (First one I sold, bought another one, got it replaced under warranty, and am now enjoying life with the replaced unit)
I must say, I am still blown away with the quality of vapor that this unit produces. Very milky and tasty, with very little throat irritation.

Couple of questions I have for you guys.

1) How does this unit stack up against the Air?
2) I was thinking about getting a bubbler attachment, the D-020 in particular. Any of you fellas and ladies have this, and if you do, what is the best GonG adapter to get for it?
3) I recently installed an o-ring in mine to cure the dreaded loose stem problem. The DANCO #10 o-ring to be specific. Curious as to how long these will last. Mine came with 10, but will i have to replace the one in there at some point?

You can buy a GonG attachment through Planetvape. The D020 bubbler takes the 18mm GonG. The Air has only been out since December 2014 so it's still fairly new to the market. The Solo has more of a temperature range with a longer air path and has been out since 2011. It has proven its place in the portable vaporizer world.

If you can't find a GonG through PV try Fcer @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd at JoDa Glass. Or get a wooden GonG through Fcer @Ed's TnT.

Both units are quality and either one would be worthy to have in your collection. The Air is stealth and unassuming.

I use the Solo at home and the Air when on the go.

1) Vapor quality is apparently excellent, very comparable to the Solo. Smaller and stealthier than the Solo. Battery life isn't as good, but its easy to carry around a spare.

2) I would recommend the D020-D over the D020. For me it's already on the small side (for some, it's perfect though), and the original D020 is even smaller. I have Yingmin's GB-187 coming. D series is 18mm so get that size PVHEGonG. I have the non-turbo shorty. Works perfect and so I'll be getting the same but non-shorty when it comes back in stock. Oh and I've heard a PV vortex gong might be in the works? :brow: Have heard great things about the vortex stem so I'm definitely looking forward to the gong.

3) Sorry I don't use an O-ring. I think it's unnecessary and that stems are meant to be loose to aid airflow... :p And it's not really an issue because I almost exclusively vape through water and I handle the unit via the GonG adapter

1. I'll let the Solo/Air owners comment on that!

2. I have both the Pinnacle Water Tool, but I use my D020 10 times as often.
I don't know which gong is best, but I use a gong created by my local glass blower.
You can do this of have it done for you, by using that otherwise useless Aroma Therapy Dish that came with your new Solo. See explanation in the link below.
I actually have both 14mm and 18mm sized gongs made the same way.

3. I use a high temperature #113 "O" ring. They seem to last forever.

Think your Solo stem is too loose? Does the bent stem flop around? Are you still unsatisfied after the "O-Ring" fix?

Can you do this with your Solo?

Recently I removed the oem Arizer Solo stem-seal and replaced it with a stack of three hi-temp O-rings.

Unscrew the top cap. Remove the four exposed screws. Carefully lift off the 'bakelite' oven cover. Remove the seal from inside of the cover; then replace the oven-cover and screws.
Before screwing the top cap back on, stack two O-rings in the 'bakelite' and work a straight stem into the o-rings (wet the glass if too tight).
Slip the third O-ring over the inserted stem and down to touch the other two. Screw the top cap back into place.
The O-rings will be lightly compressed and will stay put when stems are removed and inserted.

I used O-rings that had been thinned by sanding and the cap is fully threaded into place. If using three new O-rings, the cap may be resisted as it is fully tightened. Previously I was not able to fully tighten the cap when using the single O-ring fix because too much pressure was placed upon the base screws; now two of my corners are broken (in).

There seems to be no issue with the bottom O-ring, closest to the heat. If I choose to press the stem tight to the oven floor, the O-rings hold the stem tight enough to reproduce the old "milkshake" draw. I do not otherwise experience any change in airflow.

Interesting idea, but don't you find it increases the draw resistance? Normally a lot of air is drawn down next to the stem, past the seal where it turns at right angles to slip through the slot over the top of the cup (now blocked?) to enter the heated areas. Now you're down to the air that comes up from below?

Your call, of course, but I found a downside to sealing that area up which is why I notch the o-ring, this is how I do it (although I later switched to putting the notches sliced off on the bottom rather than inside):

New guy here. This will be my first vaporizer. Was tempted by the new Arizer Air, but I don't really need the extra portability it provides and I don't really mind not having interchangeable batteries, so I went with a Solo instead. Plus they're over $100 cheaper than the Air now. Can't wait for it to come in the mail so I can say goodbye to combustion forever.

@Lag Welcome aboard. We love our Solos and we want everybody else to have a wonderful experience too. You will be able to taste the different flavors that our fav herb has to offer.

IMO you will get more bang for your buck with this unit. If you want water filtration start shopping now for a GonG through Planetvape. Often these are sold out quickly.

When waiting for a new vaporizer it feels like Christmas.

I don't worry about a wobbly stem. It just brings on more flavor and lots of clouds.
