Upon turning on my friend is getting flashing between #7 and idle. Has anyone seen this problem? I sent him reset directions, hopefully its just a weak charger and he can buy a new one at radio shack.

Not yet. I'm still messing around with it (go figure). There are several Beta units (of two basic configurations) out, a couple of 'the usual suspects' have reported on them, other Beta Testers prefer to remain in the closet, two are not Forum Members. Reports are promising.

A couple of guys have expressed interest in making them for distribution. This most likely means repackaging of 'the Gadget'. The current Beta units look like this:
jy0w0hN.jpg

It's about 1 X 3 inches, the usual charger plugs into the black connector upper left (through a hole in the box). The cable plugs into Mister Solo. Pushing the button (lower right), which pokes up through a hole in the cover, starts the charge cycle. The little screw on the blue part above the switch sets the shut off level (currently at about 10% early), and can be adjusted by the user to suit.

I'm in no big rush to sell these, I don't intend to not profit from the sales, I want to see it right......as I hope most do? I'm sure we can all think of a vape product or two that disappointed folks due to cutting corners to get to the bucks?

I expect to get some firm plans by year's end (assuming no problems pop up this late) and hand it off, meaning it'll be up to someone else when they will release their product. If they simply want to make more like the Beta units they could be producing and shipping within a month I'd think (vendors for the PCB, to program and all the parts necessary having been identified). I've tried to avoid 'sole source' or difficult to get items, and think I've succeeded. I still have to design and build test fixtures (no big deal, really) for whoever makes them. Not only to confirm proper operation but to check the 'as shipped' calibration of the trip level. Right now I'm using the serial port on the controller and my computer to do this, not as easy or error free as it should be. I should have plenty of time to do that while production is being set up.

Please be patient, both with me and the guys that will actually try to bring it to market, it's moving along and IMO is getting very 'user friendly', I hope it'll be well received. I'm sure nobody wants it rushed.

BTW, in the fun way the world often works, the Beta Testers seem to be more excited about the faster recharge times (it takes about an hour off the charge time) and the way it beeps when the charge is done.....go figure. I didn't expect that, I was working on longer battery life you see.

Maximum life is what I've always tried to achieve with batteries in any of my devices, when possible, including my 72 volt, 50AH battery bank in my electric scooter. I've had my Solo for just over a year and a 1/4 and I have barely noticed any loss of battery capacity (capacity loss being inevitable, of course, but, minimally is great!) . Baby your rechargeable batteries, people! It's worth it!:)

The forum always has the answers. Thanks guys on the cleaning tips with my water tool. Now does anyone have any pointers on how to remove the pesky gunk from my heating chamber? Iso ain't cutting it.

Hihi!
Im totally new to the world of vaping :D been a smoker for 10+ years and its been spots and bongs all that time (good ol NZ / Australian smoking hab
I apologize in advance about questions if they have been asked, but this thread is like 1200 pages long! clearly i bought a good little product :D

I'm really keen to get a glass bong to run the solo into (is this a GonG? im totally lost sorry!)
Since im in Australia (buttf**k bottom of nowhere) we don't have the awesome choice that you guys have (namely the D020 bubbler)
I was hoping to get a standard glassie with a glass stem but i'm not sure if its best to get the Whip (normal stem -> whip -> an elbow adapter like this http://www.ozbongs.com.au/Arizer-Elbow-Adapter/ )
Orrr if there is a set Solo -> bong stem i have to get)

Seen some vids on youtube people using the standard stem into a bong but it looks fragile :S

On a side note, Grim Chicklets! 5 seconds on this forum and you give me the best idea for winter ever, the slopes are gonna be soooooooo sweet this summer!

thanks in advance!

Welcome! :)

I have the PVHEGonG 18MM from PlanetVape: http://www.planetvape.ca/pvhegong-high-efficiency-gong.html

It performs flawlessly with my water pipe, which has a standard 18mm female downstem.

While I was waiting for the GonG to arrive (they were out of stock so I had to wait a few weeks) I improvised by simply inserting the angled stem that came with the Solo and a 14mm to 18mm adapter. It wasn't a totally solid connection, but it got the job done while I was waiting.

Also for the record, the Solo is fantastic hitting it direct (I use temperature settings 4 or 5), a water attachment is strictly optional (but fun) in my opinion. :)

If you decide to go with the D020 Bubbler you will need the 18mm GonG or WonG attachment. If Planetvape is out of what you need you can go with wood from @Ed's TnT or go with FCer @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd at JoDa Glassworks. Keep checking the website at PV, they come and go fast.

The Solo is a very efficient vape. The amount of herb you need to feel the effects you want is sooo much lower than for combustion and even a ton lower than other portable vapes like the Pax.

I've been collecting the ABV since I got my first Solo. It was mostly from indica-dominant hybrids, my favorite being Granddaddy Purple. But lately I've been mixing Super Silver Haze into the mix.

Anyway, I thought the AVB was getting pretty seriously cashed every time I vape so when I decided to make cannabutter with the AVB on Sunday I figured it wouldn't be too potent. Used 9g of AVB with two sticks of butter (no fresh herb) and ended up with nearly a cup of AVButter. Half of the butter went into a pan of brownies last night and then was cut into six pieces. The one piece I had last night came on really slowly, didn't hit for well over an hour, but then it hit way harder than I would have guessed. Nearly 10 hours later when I got up this morning, I was still kind of baked and my wife had to stay home from work because she was still too medicated to commute.

Also cleaned my @Ed's TnT WonG for the first time yesterday. It is definitely my go-to stem dry but also as my d020 adapter. It got so full of goo that the draw was almost completely blocked. Popped the retaining spring and screen out yesterday, soaked those pieces in 97% ISO and pipe-cleanered the stem. Now I've got my favorite stem ready to run again and some serious stuff evaporating in a shot glass to be wrapped in cotton and vaped later (maybe tonight).

I love my Solos, probably the most versatile tools I've ever owned. Efficient and very effective daily experience and some nice bonuses along the way.

Can someone help me fix my Arizer? When I try top charge it, idle lights up blue then goes off followed by a beep sound as 7 blinks on and off. The beep continues for a bit without lights then it repeats this process.
Tried a new charge already too.
M104 is the model.

Sad to say, I think this points to a bad battery. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, I've never personally seen it. IIRC all such strange charging issues were either charger or battery?

My friends: when connected to a charger solo goes from idle to #7 then idle, alternating between the two. With no charger both #7 and idle blink.

Looking like a dead solo? He couldnt get it to reset via buttons so I had him just take it apart and unplug the battery (I believe this resets it?), same problem.

Easy, cowboy, be a bad time to pull up lame...... You can recharge it and go again tomorrow.

Glad you're enjoying it, that was, after all, the idea, right?

It seems to me, IIRC, that your car voltage is 12 volts with the engine off, when the engine is running the voltage is about 13.5 to 14 volts.

The regulator charges the battery as 13.5 to 14.2, but the battery is the buffer to the system at 11.9 to 12.2 output.

True while trickle charging.
However, if heavy loads or low battery are making the alternator go to heavy charge, I have measured 15.5 volts at the accessory jack. With everything I could think of on. (blower turned high, all lights on, rear defog on, and wipers on)

How do i check the battery level?

On power up you should get a beep (if enabled) after the bottom LED (Idle) lights then a one second display of battery level (none to 7 lights) then it reverts to showing temperature. The only way to check the battery level randomly is to power off and back on and watch it flash by.

It can become second nature.

Good luck.

I can only state that I have never come across those findings/reading at any measure point beyond the relay/fuse box in a cars circuitry personally. That is, provided the regulator is operating correctly.
