I understand for your situation the EQ is fine, but it's not ideal for someone like me that doesn't want everyone that comes over that you have a vape. Even if it wasn't for that point, I still prefer the Solo's simplicity, no tubes that can be pulled and break the unit, no bags, no filters to clean, and freedom of using it anywhere.

To me the Solo seems much more convenient, look at the steps to use each:
EQ:
1. Turn it on
2. Take out my cyclone bowl from my drawer
3. Put the bowl on the EQ
4. Take out my whip from my drawer
5. Fill the bowl/elbow pack
6. Connect whip to the bowl
Ready to use

Solo:
1. Turn it on
2. Take out the "mini whip" or whatever the glass tube is called
3. Fill the chamber
4. Connect "mini whip" to Solo
Ready to use

That's 2 less steps or 33% less steps to get the Solo ready at least in my situation, but even if you don't have to take out the parts from a drawer, it's still less steps for the Solo as there are only 2 parts, not 3.

Being able to stop during a bike ride to vape anywhere is gonna be awesome, I love biking while medicated, now I can only vape at home and leave immediately so I'm limited in my time I can bike medicated.

About the case I'm sure I'll figure a way and maybe they will release one later. Aren't there round pencil cases that are about the Solo's size? You could glue a layer of thick bubble wrap inside and create a bubble wrap pocket for the glass tube. Actually just a bubble wrap pocket for the glass tube should be enough, the case itself is enough to protect the aluminum casing from getting scratched.

This is the type of pencil case I'm thinking would be a near perfect fit:

after a short time with the solo... i am dedicated. arizer has noticeably raised the bar! imo this unit out-performs even the eq. the attributes of the wispr will have to be something special to top this... the wispr delivery delay may well have been a major marketing error! i requested a refund from the superlatively loquacious though meaninglessly verbose "gotvape" staff and hope to redeem my payment for a product promised but not delivered.
my solo unit had it's first car outing today and performed admirably. stoned from home to home again :-)
a fantastic vape.

I still would like to see a real video from a Solo Owner from this forum.
Yes... vids are being posted, but they are all commercial vids..
I do so want to be"sold" on the unit, and believe in it, but I get the feeling of watching advertising, and not a vid from a person we know and trust. :)

I found a cheap camera pouch from walmart that works pretty sweet as a case, complete with seperate zipper pockets for the glass , perfect size for the solo with little added room for a stash container, and belt strap and carabiner for $7. I'm now using the screen method since I prefer to use minimal amount of flower with concentrate it lets me do that without getting crap in the tube or my mouth. Ideally something in the style of the health stone glass vapor stone would be cool to remove the need for flower material at all as an added option.

I did some work on a Saturday and already replied to the email. :)

The Extreme Q is forced air, the solo is not. Despite the fact that I respect a portable being pure whip due to size and power requirements, that is a big difference for me. As much as I am enjoying the new portables, I have always enjoyed forced air. Using the Extreme Q with fan setting 1 using whip is definitely one of my preferred ways. So even without bag filling, having a forced air desktop is definitely a good thing.

If you absolutely need a portable but can't afford to get the solo as well, I guess you have to make a tough choice. But if you already own a good forced air desktop vaporizer that works well, save up and get the solo if that's the portable you want.

Also, please don't devalue the Extreme Q too much, there is a price war and selling at cost on certain sites to flog units but that's not its value. The minimum allowed advertised price for authorized is $259 or you have warranty issues and you will likely get cut off from the manufacturer. Even if you think $259 is too much which we don't, the Extreme Q is definitely worth $200+ for everything it offers and the quality of the unit. We sell it at minimum authorized pricing because we want to make sure our customers get full support and warranty.

If you can afford the Solo, its worth getting, regardless of what vaporizer you already own.
The Solo is a great portable and it was definitely made with care.

Begin rant/ Please get the Solo ASAP so we don't have to read about you complaining about the EQ anymore in this thread! The EQ is great for what it is, but it's not intended to be stealthy. Since you live with your parents, you probably should have considered that before purchasing. /end rant

I don't live with my parents but they were here for the weekend. I only need to hide my vape sometimes but that's only one benefit of the Solo.

Discretion is nice if you need it.
The Solo is discreet, no doubts there.

Definitely ranks up there with Magic Flight as one of the most discreet units on the market.

That being said, if you have a nice country home where no one bothers you and your parents and wife are fine with your herbal use, discretion isn't as important. :)

indeed, one of the good things about getting older is the relative freedom it brings. all my vapes are just lying about the house. i don't have people in my home whom i need to hide things from. i don't hide my beer why should i hide my vapes. but if you need to... the solo is real easy to conceal.

i'm having a middle of the night "solo" session in the gloom of the screen light. no wires, pipes, tubes, strings blah blah blah to catch up and/or trip over! the solo is again being so damn good, i'm buying a spare!

a bit off topic i know but stealth is very important to some. plus it's not often i can find something good to say about getting older so i'm running with it. fortuitously, my nearly 80 mum is cool about everything & even waters my plants for me!

Even if I didn't want to hide my vape at all, my decision to change the EQ for a Solo would be just as strong, the "stealthyness" is just one of the major benefits. But I especially like no tubes, wires, filters, being able to use it anywhere, etc.

Send yourself a gift card... write "dear aab1- enjoy the Solo aromatherapy oil diffuser, it is a gift to show what a great scent enjoyer you are... love The FreeOilDiffuserFairy". Or have them ship the Solo to a PO Box.

Let's keep this thread on topic. I've moved out a lot of chatty posts about dealer questions, off topic subjects, discounts, out of order sites, etc.-posts that those seeking info on the vape have no interest in plowing through. Please address any dealer questions about pricing, availability, etc. to the dealers via email. Retailers aren't allowed to advertise in the threads, and it's a gray area with a very subjective definition.

Stay on topic. Please avoid derailing or side-tracking discussions.

"Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?".
This forum is for mature adults only. We don't want to hear about you needing to hide things from your parents.
Use the Edit feature located near the lower right of your posts instead of making back-to-back posts in a thread.

All of the above are listed on the rules page and have been issues in this thread. Some of the same people who complain about lengthy threads are those making unnecessary and/or off topic posts, here and elsewhere. An occasional throw away comment is fine, but things have gotten out of hand here. The vape discussion section is, after all, about the vape.

A word on the moderator's behalf.
Being a moderator is by no means easy.
It is hard when complaints come in to carefully read every word and get up to speed with a topic.
We can't always agree with what a moderator says.. (I know I was just banned from 420 Mag for 7 days).
Still... there is no reason to show disrespect here.
When you display disrespect like that, you disrespect all of us.
:2c:
NOW can we see a real video of a real FC member doing some GREAT stuff with his SOLO??

Anyway there are plenty of other much better forums discussing the Solo, goodbye.

 bye bye......... don't let the door.......(nevermind) btw, badmouthing FC and it's mods at GC, http://forum.grasscity.com/toking-tools/840518-any-good-vaporizer-forum.html , isn't going to enamor you in anyway, here.......or there. (He just deleted all the really bad shit he said about the mods over there)

So for those that have a Solo and a PD/Zap, I have a question.

The size of this vape would preclude it from being a stealthy portable, and for me, if a portable isn't stealthy, it kind of loses it's desirability as portable. So coming from that perspective, along with the reported draws being about as restrictive as a PD/MZ, I'm trying to find some justification for owning one, other than the fact that it's fucking beautiful and looks to have some top notch designers that put this puppy together.

Does anyone see this as a PD/Zap replacement and if so, why, and if not, why?

All of us go round and round about what particular vape fills a particular niche and need. Just trying to figure out where this one fits in the scheme of things.

As someone who just recently owned an extreme I will say you can much more repeated big hits out of the extreme. The bowl has a larger capacity and if you're looking for a milky hit, or a lot of them, it is the way to go. The airflow is also significantly less restrictive. The solo's upsides are its portability, lack of tubing, and quicker heat up time comparatively. My solo takes five minutes to reach the optimum heat capacity for big hits where as the extreme took more like 15-20 to reach its greatest heat capacity (Unrelated too what the digital dial reads).. The extreme was more breakable and clumsy, though I have already had friends have the solo bat get 'stuck to their lip' and have the bowl fall out (luckily not shatter). Over all I would say group sessions with the extreme are more enjoyable if the choice is around, and the solo when you're solo. If you do use it with friends, I recommend each packing a full bowl for yourself as opposed to passing it back and forth.

I recently tried to scrape out the bat out for the first time with a paperclip. The friction of the paperclip rubbing against the holes caused the was causing the glass to chip off some glass powder into the resin I was scraping, and make my hole on that one slightly bigger. I had not noticed until half way being done scraping, when I saw the glass flakes falling out I knew I had no choice but to throw the stuff I'd scraped out and then give the thing a real good iso and rinse. I can not recommend using a paperclip to scrape the inner bowl out as the notches in it will risk chipping the holes, especially since you are scraping. From now now on I plan on cleaning them just in a jar of iso/shaking, and then one day evaporating that down one day to reclaim.

Also now I have returned to using the bowl at full capacity, but with a screen pressed all the way down, so the bowl packs full but the edges of the screen keep the corners that wouldn't get heated heated. I can not see any downsides to putting a screen in the bowl, except that it keeps your tube much cleaner and improves the evenness off the finish since you can properly powder your herbs. I think arizer should start including screen packs with it, it would cost them pennies but make quite a difference.

also pakololo, I posted a nice little vid this thing milking up a tube on page five if you missed it
See ya abb. Your know it all attitude and double posts wont me missed by me anyway :]

Well, I took the plunge after learning I can change the battery if I wanted to. Purchased this morning. Very nice to add this. I have a few questions about the adapter that will let you use while plugged in. When will this be available? How much will it be? What about accessories? When will you be selling extra chargers? Can I purchase my own from radio shack? What are the specs of the charger? When will car charger be available? Will there be a car adapter that allows you to use while plugged in with no charge? Sorry for all the questions I may have repeated, but I don't think I saw them answered yet.

Woah, not cool much?

This is very unusual for properly annealed borosilicate glass.

My thoughts exactly. Not cool at all. I will be sure to only use glass on glass. I have an extra glass poker from my extreme.

I'm not a glass blower, so I couldn't tell you exactly what it is about them that causes the paper clip to do it. I think it is because the edge of the holes are sharp, and not flame polished/smoothed over. They look as if they could have been dremel'd in when the glass was cold, though I doubt that would be the procedure. Maybe it's just the size of the hole, hardness and thickness of glass, brand of paper clip, leverage of scraping the edges.

Either way, it is very difficult to bend a paper clip in anyway to reclaim the really thick stuff that gathers right behind the bowl before the elbow. It's just more work for the same thing as ISOing and evaporating. It looked like a really tasty ball of bat hash, too bad it couldn't have been vaped (I love it. 'bat hash').

@ aab1: I thought you has said goodbye and moved on to greener pastures. You're still here, still talking. Why? My :2c:

@ lwien: I think this is a pretty stealthy portable, maybe second to the LB to my standards of stealth. Stealth to me simply means you could duck away with it and take some puffs on the move. No vape is so stealth i would feel comfortable with hitting it while other people watched in public, so i would only put this bellow the LB due to size/bulk in the pocket/hand, although likely smaller then a cell phone.

The Solo will not replace my PD. But it will be nice for walking around the house, in my private backyard, outside BBQ (I grill almost once a day in the summer), garage, on the move in the car, fishing, off to a friends house, laying in bed, hiking, beach, camping, ect. Not to mention i collect these damn things, and it may be the new latest in greatest in portables (to my standards i am hopeful it will be my current champ). I still have the Supreme for big hits on the move with less stealth, that can be used off the grid. The LB may be the most stealth vape out there, and i still got that if i want to hold a little more then a fist to my mouth. Oh yeah, and the PD's can be used in the car and alike too. And with power inverters, almost any vape can.

I expect the future of portables is bright, this may be the first quality made lithium battery vaporizer that will be mass produced. More people convert to vaporizing every day, and a benchmark portable is on the horizon. 7th Floor, VX, Hippie Dickie, Vapir, or the new kid on the block. I hope my vaporizer collection will stop after the Solo and Cloud, until a better portable comes out or VX releases the Rain.
