Decided to do a super low temp sesh on my lunch. I haven't been vaping as often and took a little few day break so my tolerance is lowered. Figured this would be a good time to experiment with the lower spectrum.

I have a pretty high dome in there so I get about 1/2-1/3 a bowl. Guessing around .05 loaded. Given how many hits I got and how many I could continue to get, plus the effects, I would say the Solo 2 efficiency reaches another level.

325 had decent clouds but not that signature thickness the Solo 2 provides. Bit whispy. Flavors good on first hits but then goes neutral as the temp isn't really high enough to really penetrate those terps it seems. Got about 5-6 hits on this level. Maybe 7.

335 clouds grew noticeably stronger. Way thicker .. surprisingly. Got about 5-6 hits on this level. Could've gotten more.

345 not quite the intense jump as 325-335 but could still notice the difference. Stopped after 3 hits because I was feeling quite nice.

There were still plenty more hits left. I can go back later and finish the higher temps. Or continue to ride thru the temps and take pictures. We'll see

I didn't cough between a single hit despite some large clouds. Extremely smooth. No throat coat afterwards or any uncomfortability. Just a very easy, enjoyable experience.

Effects are awesome and long lasting. Very alert too. Not overwhelmingly strong effects, but holds a lower level of more enjoyable effects that aren't so psychoactive. Very nice daytime stone.

I would like someone to try to recreate my events and see if their Solo 2 temps behave similarly to mine. I think it'll be a good test of consistency between units. Thanks to whomever does it!

Hi @Little Bill I just make hot cocoa with some cream and stir the cocoa then soak the stem in the cocoa. Let the stem soak for a minute or 2. The oil melts and intermingles with the hot cocoa. Do this an hour or two before bed. If you do this during the day plan on not having any commitments that require driving - just in case.;)
..................................................................................................
Have you ever expanded this to soaking a hydratube in hot cream to make cocoa? Is half and half cream fatty enough to work well? I have a VXL hydratube where 90% of the golden resin is at the entry area, bottom 3" of glass. Saucepan and 4" of cream on stove, does that equal a nice nightcap??
For any recovery, this seems WAY easier than harsh alcohol etc and and need to purge etc---

@MinnBobber That sounds yummy but really fattening. There's probably many ways to utilize the oil like making chi tea with cream or make coffee.

@AJS
I've been low temp vaporizing with the Solo 2 some Grand Daddy Purple. I was getting too whispy of clouds and low flavor at 325 degrees. The 335 temp I was getting better flavor I stayed there for 5 min. Then I turned the temp to 345 and the flavor was awesome and clouds were thick. I ended my 15 min session at 355. Later I will vape the same bud at 365+. The ABV is a light brown. I'm sure I can get another 15 min session. Your bud lasts longer with low temp vaporizing plus awesome flavor.

I think I will start my sessions at a slightly lower temp. I've been starting at 370 degrees and I go as high as 385 but usually lower depending on the bud. I generally stair step tempretures during my session.

Yes, that should be plenty of fat for the job. You'll need a couple grams total, give or take. And yes, it works quite well.

The key is not how much carrier (fat) is in the pot, but how much good stuff is in it when it comes to dose. That can vary widely with tolerance (go figure.....). Personally an effective dose is about 35mg. That is 30 to the gram of THC. Not concentrate or reclaim, actual THC. Assuming something like 60% we're talking maybe 50mg, that is 1/20 of a gram. Physically a bit smaller than a paper match head?

Taking too much at once can be a problem. It can take a long time to metabolize it down to a low enough level so you 'sober up'. Otherwise, you 'saturate' unlike say alcohol or opiates, once all the receptors are 'jammed' with THC no further effect is possible and the THC itself is not toxic in the usual sense. Within reason, of course. So take say half of what you think is right, if after an hour or a bit more the effect isn't right, take a bit more. But it can take a hour or more and it can 'sneak up on you' if you get distracted and 'into other stuff'. Unlike smoking where the THC is in the blood very fast, this you have to digest.

Sensitivity is lower (you need more THC to get off) but lasts longer (say 6 hours?).

Enjoy, it can be a real treat IMO.

You just explained terpene extraction as the carrier of thc, and to the point where its better ingests based upon the plants recipe. Most people think
Flash pointing everything rather spectrumizing it all... then theres 'it doesn't get me as high' and then 'are you more focused?'

Is there a tcr to the herb at the time and moment?

Weird a kick start pill along with vaping with the onset feeling or the average processing rate can pull it everywhere while vaping high scented at low temps.

We're not a closed loop systems the momentum of it is often times not considered. What's sweat?

Resistance by nature.

Anyways on another topic, i just got my new ninja belt and it doesn't fit. How the f do i karate. Hifi.

@CarolKing your experiences sound similar to mine then! Very cool.
I'm normally around 370-390 then 1 or 2 more at 410 or so to finish it off. I'm liking this lower temp more when I have time. Sometimes I'm just trying to be fast tho. That same load that took me 13 hits or so can be taken in 2 through the bubbler on high temp. One of the reasons I love the Solo 2 so much. Can do so much with it.

Honestly everyone, I'm liking the Solo 2 way more than I thought I would. I just wanted reliability and consistency but this thing has given so much more. So thankful for such a wonderful vape.

Just an update on my Arizer Solo 2. I purchased mine in June and now it's showing 'Error5' and then shuts off immediately. Arizer confirmed RMA so I am sending it in.

I wonder if error messages like this will show up on new Air 2 units once more people start buying them. It makes me wonder why these error messages are showing up. Hopefully Arizer can use this info to make their units even better!

Any idea what caused it? Lotta crumbs falling thru on the sensor? Leaving it in hot car? Liquid or oil inside? Bubbler blowback?

Sorry to hear about this. Quite the bummer :/. Got other vapes to get you through? Hope so.

I can't really think of a good reason. I'm a heavy user so it got a lot of use but I'm also very careful with my equipment. It didn't even have a scratch on it. I did finish many of my sessions up to 430 but it's designed to go that high so I can't say that's the reason. I didn't ever have the automatic shut off longer than 12 minute session and it can go several minutes higher than that.

Yep I have a few other vapes so not a big deal but I just like it so much better than them all so I'll be happy when I have it back.

Maybe they will give me a reason but I doubt it. I guess if they repair it vs send me a new one that might give us some information if anyone can extrapolate from that lol.

Pro Tip: Save your box. The devices serial number wipes clear from your hands shortly and the box has your serial number and other information on it which they will ask for. Not sure what they were thinking using ink for a serial number but they might have already fix this.

Sooo I just joined this forum just to ask this one question and hopefully get some peace of mind... I want to get a Solo II as my first vaporizer but the Internet has scared me with all these offgassing claims and hot air passing through electronics and stuff. Does the Solo II have this issue? I really want one but I'm worried about this. Honestly, I just care that it's no MORE harmful than combustion, it doesn't even have to be less harmful. Thanks in advance.

Hiya @djm I'm not the smartest solo 2 owner in these parts, nor the most experienced but I do feel qualified to address your question. I asked a similar question in this very thread back in May; the Solo 2 was to be my first vape & right after release people got me all freaked out. Air passes over the electronics, as it does in Solo, Air, Air2; air also passes over computers, monitors, televisions, refrigerators and many other devices. Anyway, @OF put my concern to rest and I never looked back. I experienced no off-gassing during 2 burn-offs, no wierd "robot-fart" tastes.

Consider this, you are looking at buying a vaporizer built in Canada by an industry leader with a proven track record. There are thousands of their vapes in use around the world, if there were design/health issues, we would know. Of all the portable vaporizers out there(made you-know-where out of who-knows-what materials), Arizer products are known to be well-designed, well-built with quality materials that perform well day after day for years. If an issue or fault occurs, I know that Arizer will be there to help, because of their history and reputation. These are good guys, my friend.

You've done well in choosing , your research is sound; don't let pseudoscience "experts" frighten you. I'm not sure why they enjoy spreading misinformation. Search back to May, @OF will ease your mind. PEACE

In a word, no.

All you're going to get is opinions, and many of them based on not very much. Other forums are scarcely better, sad to say.

Just what, exactly, is the threat these 'experts' not even using their real names cite? How do vape electronics vapors differ from the ones from your computer, TV or cell phone? Why is one poison and the rest not worth worrying about? Can they name the chemical(s) or their acceptable concentrations (remember, real experts include exposure levels (usually based on body weight) when defining the risk.....just like is done with drugs? Science just doesn't recognize the risk here.....perhaps because it's not real? Still a good 'my dog (vape in this case) is better than yours......' claim. Good way to trash the rest since they can't 'fight back' from a non existent threat.

Lame, too. In that it 'scares off' good folks, like you?

You ask the key question I think, 'is it safer by combustion?'. Absolutely yes! And in this case we can name the dangerous chemicals and their acceptable levels in everyday life. In their hundreds, we've studied, documented and tested them. Peer reviewed stuff. Not wild speculation on the web by self professed experts.

Consider another point, aside from your health, the cost? Since you're not burning up THC (mighty expensive fuel, doncha think?), breaking it down to make some of those very toxic chemicals in fact, more percentage wise gets to you. Expect your weed bill to drop BIG TIME. Not only do most of us move up to that lovely top shelf bud but our weed bill drops to 1/3 or even 1/4 of what it was. More enjoyment for the buck and you get to live longer to enjoy it? What's wrong with that.

Best regards, enjoy the Solo you got a good one for sure.

It's a fantastic unit that works extremely well. Best vape I've owned to date...

Not to worry, you're still young.......

I'm thinking that the incremental changes/improvements we see in 'mature products' like Solo/Air are small? Useful, at least to some, of course but relatively minor compared to the big ones early on? That is to say Solo I and the OG Air are still great vapes as they always have been. 'Upgrading' only makes sense for some, and IMO the 'improvements' are pretty minor.

Each guy (or gal) gets to make their own call based on their experience and conditions. In those terms it's very hard indeed to go very far wrong with Solo/Air of any stripe?

We are indeed blessed to have so many vapes to pick from, with more on the way. Makers around the world giving us exciting new offerings, competing for our business. Capitalism, gotta love it. Way better than that other way.

Thank you for the compliment....wish I was young again. ;) But with respect to vaporizer ownership, you are correct: I certainly haven't tried them all. Yet.

And again, I have to agree with you concerning the Arizer products. I still love my original Solo (must get the battery replaced) and my Extreme Q. I don't own the Air or Air 2. Being Canadian, I am particularly proud of this company.

I have to admit that the maximum temperature increase of the Solo 2 (220C) really appealed to me. It doesn't matter what I put into the glass stem...works beautifully every time.

Love reading your take on things, @OF. I learn much. You too, @CarolKing.

I've been a very happy customer from day one. I've always loved Arizer's products. It's been a stand up company even when they were having problems early on with the Solo. They made sure they got it right. They are always trying to improve on heir products. Without a lot of false promises they just announce a unit and it comes out a few weeks or days later.

I get so tired of the hype of some companies that overly promote vaporizers that turns out to be a let down. Or the date that they promised gets forgotten in the promotion of the product. The vaporizer gets released at a much later time than was originally promised. What I really dislike is companies promoting preordering before a vaporizer is ready to be released.
A big thank you to Arizer for making this unit a winner.

The Solo 2 is always ready when I am.

Edit
Welcome to the forum,
@djm don't let all those lies that are being told on Reddit or anywhere else scare you. . All it takes is a couple people that start to complain and everyone piles on. I've seen some pretty remarkable statements made that are so full of s*it. We had a couple of members that started dissing the Solo 2 without adequate information here. Thank goodness we have folks on this forum that actually have some knowledge about vaporizers and some knowledge of science. A big thank you to @OF

True there are some really terrible vaporizers out there. Arizer isn't part of them. They aren't a Chinese product, they are made in Canada which should help to alleviate some anxiety. Buying a vaporizer is a big decision and a costly one depending on your budget.

@djm ^^convinced yet?^^ Please come and join us, the vapor is great over here! In my overly complicated way, I forgot your main concern. Yes, vaporizing with Solo 2 will be much less harmful than combustion. I experienced my lungs clearing in the 3-4 weeks after the switch, also no more chronic cough.

@djm The draw resistance has been eased a lot. I don't feel I have a problem personally at all. The original Solo OG from 2011 I had a problem with the draw resistance. Then in 2014 it was eased a little more, now it seems perfect IMO.

Many folks don't even use a screen. There are the four holes in the bottom of the glass stock stem. You do need a little bit more of a coarse grind so you don't dirty up your glass and that particles don't come through.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have to say I tend to leave mine set at 375-380 and never tried the lower temps you used. At 375-380 and really drawing in/a big pull, sometimes I'll feel my throat get a bit dry and let out a massive cloud. Drinking a little water beforehand or using a water stem helps a lot but I'll have to try the lower temps you tried given you got good effects from it with no throat issues. But I wonder.....can you finish a complete bowl at those lower temps/get everything out of the material? Or does one have to crank the temp up a bit to finish off the material?

fwiw, there are some actual studies out there that talk about the "optimal" temps to vaporize. There's some links to the actual studies here:

https://www.leafscience.com/2016/05/18/vaporizing-marijuana-temperature-best/

One of the studies has quite a high temp for max benefits according to this study:

“In general, I would say 210°C is the best balance between efficient evaporation of terpenes and cannabinoids and smoothness of the vapor,” says Dr. Arno Hazekamp, who studies medical cannabis as the head of research at Bedrocan BV in the Netherlands."

210C = 410F which is pretty high up there in my book temp wise.

Also lower temps you indicated with your test on the Solo II state this:

"If a user vaporizes cannabis below 180°C (356°F), they will mainly inhale terpenes because cannabinoids won’t evaporate at low temperatures, according to Dr. Hazekamp. But lower temperatures can be ideal for those who want a less intense and more awake high."

Interesting how the article mentions how different temps impact effects/what we inhale with our Solo II's depending on what we set the temps at. Seems perhaps how we set our temps on our Solo II's can have a big impact on the effects we feel right along with strain choice.

btw, your food in the pics are making me very hungry....love pea pods and what might be quinoa as the grain?

Not much to add as you got some good responses on the matter other than as with all things on the internet, be careful of various agendas......lots of "reviews"/commentary often exist without any reality or facts to back them up. And in more than a few cases people simply post them with an agenda in mind.........or for/against a business entity.

There's still left over at the higher temps, but you get all the actives that are available at these lower temps...if that makes sense .. and it's still quite potent. I highly recommend it as a first sesh of the day. Don't worry about vapor production, just inhale deep, hold, exhale, enjoy. Between 335-345. 350 if you're feeling bold. Lemme know if you do, I loved it.

I have no experience with Planet of the Vapes. But I do recommend you contact Randy at PuffItUp. Let him know you are a recent fuckcombustion.com member and he may give you a discount on the Solo 2. I've only ordered from him once but several members here dealt with Randy. Really nice guy.

I am Canadian, and even with our weak dollar, the deal Randy gave me on my latest vape was the best deal I could find. It wasn't a Solo 2, but he does carry them.

Here is the link to their contact page if you decide to go this route:

Good luck. It's a great vaporizer.
