Indeed they are. In a fun way, too bad for Arizer. Nobody seems to wear theirs out and need to buy a replacement?

So they're reduced to trying to sell smaller versions (Air) or different colors. Or put a digital display on it.

An open question to those with Solos now, did you ever have one fail except for wearing the battery out with LOTS of good service? I don't recall a single report of a honest failure in service?

They seem to build them to last, hopefully that will carry over to the new model.

I had a old solo die on me. Tried replacing the battery still did not work. The lights would just flash and then turn off. Never got it fixed. I also had a EQ fan die on me after a few months. Arizer products do break occasionally. That Solo was used and abused though, it had seen some good times haha. Rip Solo l

Never had a solo but I've followed the thread for years. Never really saw any serious issue with them reported. My EQ is a tank too. I've only had issues with the air. Bought it when it came out and have had to warranty it several times. Each time I've noticed my air will randomly stop ripping. Not like the unit turned off but significantly weaker hits. And then the next hit is like a dragon lol. Most bowls don't start ripping until the second 10 minute timeout and even then I think I'm leaving some goodness in the green because it's not really as cooked as it normally is. Arizer has been a boss about replacing what seems to be a heater issue but they claim is an unrepairable circuitry issue. Now that I'm outta warranty and my third replacement is doing the same thing after a year, they wanna charge me $130 to fix it if it's the same circuitry issue. Planning on getting the Solo 2 on sale as a replacement that way I have a vape and then maybe send the air to arizer too see what's up lol. I will agree with the poster above. They do take a beating but they do break down lol

Yeah, I hear that about the GH as well. Great ride for a sunny afternoon if it doesn't break down and leave you walking back to town? I guess every industry has it's "Hanger Queens"? Maybe this is the poster child for portables.......

So true what you say about the warranty. As a "cost of goods sold", warranty service/replacements must be trivial (I'm used to 10% as a starting point). Some vape makers can go broke with a 30 day money back offer.

Back when I used to do Marine (electronics) Service we used to joke about giving a '15, 15 Sea Marker Guarantee'. That's 15 days, or 15 NM (Nautical Miles) or until you pass your first Sea Marker. Since there was almost always a marker outside the harbor, once you left the Marina you were on your own......

That's what I expect, wouldn't you? You can heat the cup up faster by brute force or confining the heat to a smaller oven (sounds like this happened?). But it's still a conduction vape at heart and the heat can only soak through the glass so fast. To make it heat faster you'd have to raise the cup temperature (bigger differential, faster transfer), but then you run the risk of overtemperature/combustion.

If you want it significantly faster cold to vapor you'll need to get the glass out of the heat path I'm thinking?

Battery life has my attention. Or is it 'curiosity'. It's either got a higher capacity battery on board or a smaller and/or better insulated oven......or both?

Soon all these things should be known.

I've used mine a couple times today (came this morning!). I can't compare to the original Solo, but this thing is pretty sweet. Works GREAT. And yes, I find waiting 15-30 sec after the display shows the correct temperature is about right. Maybe doesn't need to be that long, more experimentation ahead!

Oh I should clarify. I'm sure they have ramped up the oven heater as we have heard in a few reports, but is it effective as, say the Boundless CF/X with its 25 seconds to produce clouds, or more akin to the Pax 3 which people report did not improve upon the speed of its vapor production (compared to Pax 2).

If the Solo II is even 10-15% faster heating up than the Arizer Air, and it indeed keeps up better through a water pipe, then I'm sure I'll find one in my arsenal within the next few months.

This us what happened to my Solo or though to be fair i haven't replaced the battery, but sometimes it will heat up and other times the first light blinks for 10 seconds and turns off.

I like the look of the Solo II. Not sure how it will fit along side my CF and Focusvape though. And the sticky brick vapes have my attention as well. So many great great choices . Aren't we so fucken lucky!

I think that depends on the preheat of the stem. If I put the stem in when I turn it on it gets thicker hits earlier. If the stem takes 10 seconds to preheat all the way through it's still ready 90 seconds faster than with a Solo. 30 second heat up plus 10 second stem heat soak is quicker than 90 second heat up and 10 second stem heat soak. So it's faster no matter how you slice it. The matter of the herbs coming up to temp is constant regardless of the vape. Am I marketing sense here? The advertised heat up time for the Pax 2 and 3 is only 15 seconds difference, while the Solo and Solo II heat up time is different by minutes.

@Stu - like a dream! I was able to put the Solo II in its belt clip case in that same fanny pack along with the FF2, Focus Pro, CFC, IQ, Pax 3, Xmax, and even the MV! I guess that pic is gonna follow me forever, huh!?!

Anyone able to compare it to the air? @OF, you have had the Solo and the air if my memory is correct, which do you prefer? If the solo2 is anything like the original and you like the Solo better I might just buy a solo 2 instead of paying to fix my air. I love the convenience and lack of maintenance of the air so I need something similar. I have a pax and a Firefly and don't care for either lol.

I own the Air and I want to compare the chamber of the Solo 2 to see what improvements where done with the airflow which will determine if I buy the Solo 2.

With the increased battery and a car charger this would be a good one for camping or other holidays.
And it looks like the Solo 1 car charger should work it.
I've camped well with Solo 1 before.
If it was for around the house I'd get a regular Solo or NLE, but I'd be hoping to make the most of the slim profile or good battery life if I pick this one up.

Based on my experiences with tuning Solo stem loads, and knowing you liked smaller amounts at one point? in the Crafty, I think you could be impressed with this unit overall compared to most other competitors to date!

I have one if possible!?
I'm thinking about bringing my Solo 1 or this new Solo 2 overseas sometime.
So on a Solo 1 you can spin off the top cap and brush away some crumbs, iso wipe and maybe do burnoffs before travelling.
Is there a gap where crumbs can fall in on Solo 2? Or can you remove the cap and clean them?

Maybe its sealed very good at the top but I did hear the cap seems quite fixed.

My bad @OF. Was unaware you've said it before and I've been off the forum for a bit after I had my kids and life just went into autopilot lol. I was super active and remember reading a a lot of your posts on the air thread lol Appreciate. I'm the complete opposite. The airs short stems irritate my throat ( probably cuz I vape on red all the time) so I ordered the curved solo stem from Randy and I use that in the air lol. Yeah i think I'll probably go the Solo 2 route when they drop a 420 sale and send my air in after I get the Solo so I have a backup
