I use Samsung cells, look like the ones linked above and on the end of the previous page of this thread, they have a b.

They work good. Don't do what I do. I take stupid chances.

My air seems to fit both these Samsung cells and the stock cell the same, but that is only to the naked eye.

The temp stays rock solid. If it's cooling down it's not indicating it anywhere.

Since you know it's happening to some degree either the senor is not responding in a timely manner of (IMO more likely) it's not being displayed. This is called 'masking' or sometimes 'window masking' in the industry. You see it on other vapes, the temperature rises a degree or two at a time until it gets near the target, then suddenly jumps to exactly the target (even though it can't be there quite yet).

Otherwise customers might get obsessed on unimportant, strange as that idea might be.

Thermodynamics is a strict science. The rules are laws, always in effect. Heat flow (like taking a hit) automatically means a temperature drop where it matters, detected/displayed or not. I did a series of tests on Ascent, another glass lined conduction vape. Here's one at idle, their 400F agrees with 'my' 399.9 pretty well?

Here it is again a couple seconds (enough time to lay it down and grab the camera) after a heavy hit. Notice it's dropped 40F (I could get as much as 100 degrees! To 300F in heroic hits):

Notice the display on the unit still says '400F'........

Do yourself a favor and don't order until @OF weighs in.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but don't hold your breath as it's likely to be a while before I get an Air II to check out (I tend to be careful not to get into discussions not backed in experience.......). Until then my advice remains 'stick to the factory 18650. If it can be confirmed the exact same unit can be bought elsewhere that should be fine......who's in the position to certify that? Recall I supported buying replacements from Centizen for Air I? Same here?

They work good. Don't do what I do. I take stupid chances.

Love it, 'another self realized man'?

What's the old joke about 'what are the last words of 3 out of 4 redneck teens?'. "Hey, y'all, check this out!".

Regards to all.

They include an interesting little excerpt in the user manual on this subject.

Don't really like linking but had seen someone got one on reddit , here is a link to the imgur pictures - https://imgur.com/a/2geah , gonna try and order one later today as my og Air has not skipped a beat since day 1.

Hey that's my album! Posted it a bit earlier in this thread in case anyone wants to read my initial impressions that go along with it.

@ClearlyCannabis Can you do some more heatup time comparisons?
Only 11sec faster would be very disappointing for me.

I've been messing around and found it's mostly the last 30 or so degrees that really adds to the heat up.

I usually vape on green on the original Air (390°F) and I've found that the Air II hits the same temperature a good 20-25 seconds before the original Air. There is an improvement there but it's not massive. Still that's a 30%(ish) improvement in heat up time.

I think if I was to upgrade my OG Air I might have to go for the Solo 2. I always wished I had more built-in battery life, instead of needing to carry around extra cells. The heat-up time improvements and slimmer size of the Solo 2 make that even more tempting. Still, this vaporizer looks great, and I can't picture this new Air really letting anyone down.

Do you heat and compare them empty or full?

The test in the album was empty as I figured that the thermal sink the little bit of herb posed was pretty minimal. It is possible the Air II can keep up better with the added material to heat up.

All of the subsequent use has been full stems through the Air II. I'm in the process of selling my original Air so maybe I'll take a few more measurements before it leaves my hands if I have time before it sells!

How's the draw resistance? Same air path?

BigJr48,

They've done something to the air path that's for sure. The draw resistance is a lot less than the original Air. I would go as much and say it's even half as restrictive.

@ClearlyCannabis thank you for the excellent info and photos so far, is there any chance you could unscrew the heat guard and get a couple pictures of the gap between the heater and the body tube? Just curious if they changed the wiring or anything in there.

As long as cell phone photos work! Looks pretty similar to the original Air.

Underneath the heater looks a good deal different vs the original Air. Seems hollow? Super hard to get an image of it however, the heater is in the way.

Not that I'm going to buy an Air because I have the Solo 2 and a Grasshopper for stealth situations. I also have the Arizer Air OG. I would think the tempreture display on the new model and being able to choose your exact temp would be more important than heating up 30 seconds quicker than the Air OG.

Everyone has different priorities. You know it's well made from an excellent company that's been around for a while.

So if looking for a new portable that's somewhat stealth this unit might be right down your ally.:2c:

Random observation for your consideration: My Air I body is painted Aluminum, that sure looks like injection molded plastic to me.......is it?

If so, that should take a big bite out of the cost, once the mold is 'paid off'.

TIA

OF

I'm almost positive the body is aluminum or at least some sort of metal. The finish is pretty interesting but it feels identical to my original titanium Air.
