I ended up with a 5oz bag of larf and trimmings and am thinking about water curing an ounce or two for edibles to see if it makes my butter/oil a little less fragrant. Anyone try this technique for edibles before?
You don’t need to wait a day between plunges. I simply plunge, wait an hour, and plunge again. Repeat until nearly clear. You can do it in a few hours100%
I always (except this latest time) do a water cure before I cook with it. I use a french press and change the water daily until it runs clear.
Sandwich the buds between 2 coffee filters and tape it to a fan to dry it out.
WCing is the answer to eliminate the taste.
When you dry it in the oven after water curing, it believe it does the decarb at the same time, so I don't think doing a decarb before is neededAny one try water curing after de-carbing? It might help too, but I’ve never tried it. Thinking it would be a bit like water curing ABV.
I was wondering though if it would further decrease the taste to water cure after decarbing as well. I guess I can give it a try next time and see…When you dry it in the oven after water curing, it believe it does the decarb at the same time, so I don't think doing a decarb before is needed
That's a method I've never heard of before. Do you skim the chlorophyll off the top or something?I don’t have any experience with water curing. However, I “wash” my butter. I typically make butter with the crock pot method. After refrigerating and collecting the butter, I remelt the chunk of butter in a fresh batch of hot water give it a good stir. This cleans a lot of the green color and taste from the butter.

Hey did you try water curing your decarbed weed? I came to Google to find out and stumbled across this post haha.I was wondering though if it would further decrease the taste to water cure after decarbing as well. I guess I can give it a try next time and see…
I personally would remove the seeds - but the question begs, why do you have seeds to begin with? This season I've water cured my ABV and the difference was amazing... no nasty taste/smell and have used it with and without the plant matter.
Have moved on to big bag 'o trim and the question I have is...
Do I need to remove the seeds (quite a few) before I water cure?
Will the seeds start the sprout process? Will that affect the final product?
Will it be a malting like in brewing with a release of growth enzymes?
Am I overthinking it...
I did an experiment a while back called "From schwag to not bad?" where I had a good amount of trash that I watercured.I thought 'Big Bag 'o Trim' was self evident. Lots of leaves, VERY dry, seedy as all get out, not well cared for after they took out the nice colas.
Main reason it's all going to edibles (most all, still vaping for quality control purposes). Have about a half pound in total, processed 2 batches so far with a third that is still soaking for the next run.
Been meaning to write up my exploits in butter craft, but still working on it...
