I have to confess – every once in a while, I go a couple days where I primarily smoke joints, and every time I can't help but get this nagging thought that maybe, after all the money and time I've spent on vapes, maybe I still prefer the high from smoking joints over any other consumption method.
This thought overwhelms me with dread. I'm being dramatic, obviously, but I am genuinely annoyed by the possibility that I prefer the signature of smoking a joint over any single device I own. And for me, especially in recent years as I've transitioned to microdosing, signature has become my primary criteria for evaluating vapes, over flavor and cloud production.
But all of this also makes me wonder: even if I prefer the signature of a joint to any single device of mine, maybe there's a way that I can approximate the feeling a joint by using multiple devices in rapid succession. I say rapid succession because I believe that I feel the signature of a given consumption method most profoundly at the initial onset, and so the goal here would be to create one single hybrid signature, rather than layer signatures.
I don't really see much discussion on FC about pairing specific vapes together in a single session to bring out the best signature, but there might be some real untapped potential there.
So with all this in mind I wanted to ask the class: how would you describe the signature from a joint, on the scales from conduction to convection, stony to heady, dark to bright, and mellow to euphoric? For me a joint feels closest to hybrid vapes, but with an extra bit of bite and euphoria.
Do you have any thoughts on devices you could pair together to replicate that feeling? Also just curious if there are any vapes you all think complement each other really well in a single session.
My current theory is that if I hit a more conduction-heavy hybrid, and then top it off with some light convection, I'll be able to get close to the feeling of a joint. My friend has a Prrl Labs Neo I'm waiting to borrow – I tried it once a month or so back, and for some reason I have this feeling that it'll be be just the convection device I need to give my high that extra bit of bite and euphoria.
