Hello FC hops heads. I rarely drink and when I do, it would be less than a serving, but that doesn't mean I don't have a great appreciation for the stuff (once helped start up a microbrewery). Fortunately, my lovely little darling wife loves the stuff, and now that we live in the Pacific Northwest, I get to taste all the crazy IPA's they seem to go nuts for here. I guess when you live where all the hops is grown, you can expect more than a little bit of it to show up in your beer! Somtimes I wonder just how much beer they actually put in their mugs of hops around here.

I would appreciate any Pacific Northwest breweries to keep my eye out for her.

Be advised.

The first thing this beer does is punch you in the gennies and steel your wallet. It's that pricey.

But then, having made off with your rent, it comes around and gets all gentle and loving. You inhale malty chocolate scents. The head is creamy with a cocoa hue.

Sipping starts with creamy chocolate and glides down your throat. The rye whiskey barrel adds to the complexity but is well balanced. And it uses English and German hops! No citrus to be found in this beer, thankfully.

The beer's final surprise is a roundhouse to the back of the head if you're not careful (luckily, I was). Although there is a halo of alcohol notes at the end, you won't see the 11.7% coming.

Highly recommended if you can find it and can budget it.

Ok, so this one clocks in even pricier than Delusion but seems to get sold as a single.

First time I've found this one. Pours very dark with a creamy head. Since it was sitting in the extended freezer (garage), it started out too cold. As it warmed, the complexities became apparent. Reminds me more of a Guinness style stout but with hints of fig. You know the alcohol is present but it is well contained.

Innis & Gunn Original (From one of the beer rating sites that I agree with, as follows): ..."Rich amber/gold color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of malt, oak, & caramel; Flavor of sweet malt, buttery caramel, toffee, and vanilla; Nicely balanced; Solid ale."
IMO, a nice clean tasting very refreshing beer for after a hard day's work:-)

I've been meaning to add a few new beers I've really enjoyed lately but haven't got to it. So Ill just post them all in one comment. Hope no one minds the extended post..

First is the almighty PUMKING!!!
This is brewed by southern tier and is 8.6% abv. Last year i was on the fence about this brew this year but i couldnt get enough this year. Definitely a great pumpkin beer to try.

Second Malt Monster: Wallace, Wee Heavy From The fort Collins brewery at 9.8% abv. This was obviously quite malting but not too much I liked this beer a lot just couldnt drink a bunch of them haha

Third is three 12 oz bottles that are regulars in my take out sixers.

Dubhe (doobie) Imperial black IPA from Unita Brewing Co. This beer is 9.2% abv and very smooth a quick ipa taste mellowed out but the dark richness, Also brewed with Hemp Seeds.

Gran Met from Voodoo brewing Co. This is a local beer with a nice 9.5 abv. Its a belgian style ale, its a great all around beer and is just now available is 12oz as well as the big bottle.

Arcadia B-Craft Black IPA form Arcadia brewing co. This is 8.5% abv and another great beer to try i really enjoy the initial hop taste followed by the sweetness of a dark beer.

Fourth is going to be the ONLY Terrapin so far that i didnt like.

Guano Loco side project # 23 by Terrapin beer co. This is a 8.6% abv and is called a Chili pepper brownie ale. I took the gamble on this one and lost luckily it was half off. I knew the combo wasnt like anything i had tried so i wanted to give it a far chance. unfortunately i couldnt finish the bottle it was the dry chili pepper taste that i couldnt stand.

Fifth and final is 2 very surprising holiday brews.

Nissefar from Haand Bryggeriet is a xmas brew thats 7.0% abv. This a dark beer and quickly became a holiday favorite sip after sip.

Bestefar from Haan Bryggeriet is a winter warmer thats 9.0% abv. Just like the Nissefar this beer was better each and every sip just a little more smokey flavor than the Nissefar.

Together this is the best one two punch holiday/winter brew I've had this year. This was a new brewery to me but i will be trying others from them after this 2 shining brews found my heart. I actually liked them so much i went right back to the store to get two more the next day for they went til next year.

I try to not add to much personal opinion on flavor since everyone taste is different and i probably dont know what im talking about haha. I just want to share the beers ive been trying and enjoying im sure a quick google search of any of these beers will have tons of reviews from people who people know what they r talking about. thanks for looking hope u can try some of these brews too.

I don't like drinking beer really to get drunk, but I'll do it if I need too. Kind of a bit old to crush the case of Keystone anymore, really only drink to get drunk if I'm out with a bunch of friends from high school. Tolerance is nothing like it used to be though, I do think I was the first one sleeping on new years, at like 12:05 lol. I drink shitty beer too when out at the bar to keep in control, though I usually start with a shot too.

I do like craft beers when lounging, though I still rarely am buying them. I'm much more partial to coffee to drink while relaxing around the house, or Coffee + Kahlua if I'm looking for some alcohol, or Coffee + CannaOil if I want to get high.

That being said, I bought a six pack for the Super Bowl of "Fathead's Sunshine Daydream Session Ale" Not gonna lie, it initially caught my eye by the groovy box art, and Fatheads has a bar down in Pittsburgh that is AWESOME, so I figured it would be quality and was familiar with the name.

It's.....really really really good. Maybe my favorite beer in awhile. Its an IPA and I fuck with that, but it has some citrus tastes to it, they say on the box its "refreshing" and that really is the best way to describe it. Has that hoppy IPA taste, but its surprisingly easy to drink and tastes really good. Quenches my thirst after some vape rips. Will definitely buy some more.

Edit: Saw post above, have actually had the PumKing before and it is indeed awesome. One or two though is enough for me, those specialty flavored beers really can only have 1 or two before I'm tired of it.

Also, I am a fan of darker crafts in general and not really a hophead, though I like IPA's, its not like its IPA or bust. There is a beer sold by me called Java Head that is a coffee stout, amazing. Huge fan of the chocolate/coffee type of stouts, or anything pretty dark like that

I like everything Haan Bryggeriet makes. They are always a little expensive but extremely well made beers.

I much preferred Southern Tier's Warlock over Pumking this year. Unfortunately they are distributed by Budweiser down here whom I refuse to support. That being said, I did try both of them at other peoples expense. :)

Love Fathead. Their Sunshine Daydream is right up there with AllDay IPA from Founders and Invasion from CCB as my goto session beers. Their Spooky Tooth Pumpkin was one of my favorite pumpkins this year.

I've been loving this lately. My local beer store only gets one 24 case of tall cans per week. You gotta get it when you can! It's really heavy on the hops and has a nice citrus aroma and flavour. It's strong at 7.1% ABV, so you just kind of sip and enjoy. Or slam it down and get smashed... I prefer the former but the latter is nice from time to time.

I happen to have a 6 pack of this right now and I'm really enjoying it. My favorite seasonal beer is disappearing from shelves, I was lucky enough to have some on tap at World of Beer. After the hops wreck your taste buds the green tea comes in hard, even though I know its coming the green tea catches me by surprise every time. My fridge is full of Stone beers right now... I like it that way.

Im looking into this as we speak!! Which do you prefer canned or bottle? How does the quality/taste differ?

For me, canned or bottled beer taste the same. But, when serving friends, I like the presentation of a bottle better. When having a nice cold one myself when working outside (gardening, etc), I like cans better. ENJOY!!!

Found another tasty IPA from San Diego. Surprise! :lol:

Coronado Skull Wrapper. If you're a hop-head you'll probably really enjoy it! Mega hops up front (much Simcoe & Nugget) , but settles down very nicely on the finish. Love most Cornado IPAs, but think this one is really something special.

Sorry. Another pic snagged from web. I usually feel too cool to be taking pics of my beers in my crowded local watering hole. Not that I am that cool, or I never take pics of my beers, just wasn't up for the obigatrory teasing from all the other regulars. :brow:

Looks good! Haven't had much luck finding the Stone Delicious in bottles yet, myself. Had to stop looking for a few days, because I seldom leave a store empty handed and fridge is too full! Certainly not a bad problem! :cheers:

Most chili beers I've really enjoyed are ones that are in the, "Mexican Chocolate cake," type variety.

So usually an Imperial/double stout with chocolate, cinnamon, and chili added.

Just had a decent one from Clown Shoes brewing the other day called Chocolate Sombrero. Not bad.

My favorite beer with heat though so far was The Lost Abbey's Track #8. Belgian quad aged in bourbon barrels, then with cinnamon and chili added. So gooooooood...

Birdsong, a local brewery makes a Mexicali Chile Stout that falls in the variety you described - it isn't for me though. It seems like all their other brews are overshadowed by their signature Jalapeno Pale Ale, its the most common one I see at least. Its my favorite pepper-based beer to date. Good thing it can be found at most local restaurants and bars that have a decent selection of craft beer. Its hopped up just enough to remind you its a pale ale but not enough to cover up the the jalapeno flavor which IMO is pretty strong, little to no heat to speak of. Occasionally it'll come garnished with a slice of jalapeno. Unfortunately I don't know if it can be found of state, Birdsong is a pretty small brewery...

I need @EveryDayAmnesiac to back me up on this one! If you haven't tried it, you need to drop whatever the hell you're doing and go find some. I don't care how far east you have to drive.
