We recently started trying dispensary gummies (Standard 100mg pack with each gummy having 10mg) after being given a few at a wedding. We had been drinking wine and had a mild wine buzz when someone offered us a couple gummies. After 2 hours I could feel "something" ... and then my wife, without notice, got up and headed for the dance floor. Nobody was dancing so far except her and her eyes were half closed and she had this grin on her face. My wife wouldn't normally storm the dance floor like that. It was then that I realized I was feeling "super content". The high wasn't nearly as intense as vaping/smoking. It felt like a happy, low end electrical current versus the initial zap and buzz that comes from vaping/smoking. I got happy feet and joined the wife. The wedding took off from there. At some point we were given another gummy and we stopped drinking and broke out the vape pen. The high didn't change much other than that super content feeling got warmer/stronger but still no "Woohoo"! feeling.
Having had such a good time at the wedding I picked up a pack of edibles and we used them for some binge watching. Took 2 a piece (each was 10mg) with some ice cream on an empty stomach. I decided not to vape beforehand so I could feel the effect better. My wife had vaped an hour before we started. At the two hour mark my wife said she didn't feel anything. I on the other hand had reached that same warm, content feeling I had at the wedding. We took 2 more gummies. An hour later I noted that I was grinning for no reason. The warm content feeling was stronger and there was a mild case of fuzziness on the fringe but again, no "woohoo"! kind of vape buzz. When I asked the wife what she was feeling...she looked at me, frowned and picked up her vape. My take....because she vaped before the gummies she level set her base high and the gummy high wasn't as intense..... so by comparison she wasn't feeling it as much.
We tried the gummy binge watch again a few weeks later but this time she didn't get high beforehand and neither did I. We took 6 gummies a piece this time (2 every 2 hours) and this time the high was stronger and had a slight couch lock to it but again...didn't have the intensity of a initial vape high.
If I vape earlier in the day and then vape again several hours later I never "feel" like I'm getting as high as I did during the first session of the day. I think its the same with edibles. Vaping before doing gummies may camouflage the gummy high. I also think those stories about taking too much edibles and having a bad experience temper our approach a good bit and that we are still increasing the dosage a few gummies at a time. We are still experimenting ... just got 4 packs of gummies.
